Stars Come Out to Support the Troops

November 12th, 2007 / Author: cwillett

Former Dorito spokeswoman Ali Landry looked dazzling after giving birth to her daughter, Estela, only four months ago! But it was her latest movie Bella that had Ali all excited.

“It’s been doing so well. It really is the little engine that could at this point. We’ve been holding our numbers so strong for weeks in a row now and it really is a miracle. We had no money for advertising so we’ve been traveling with this movie for the past three years so it’s great. All our efforts have proven right,” she said at the A Salute to Our Troops event held on Veterans Day.

Meanwhile Til Death star Joely Fisher revealed she was anything but scared to turn the big 4-0 last month. “40 and fantastic! I had a giant party and people entertained me. We did it in grand style!”

She also had some kind words for co-star Brad Garrett who lost his father a couple weeks ago. “He’s a gentle giant. He wears his heart on his sleeve. He’s gone through a lot this year. I’m sure it’s very upsetting. He had a very special relationship with his father and he’s dealing with it. We were texting just this morning”

The cast of Rescue Me had a lot of laughs when they found out co-star Daniel Sunjata is this week’s Man Candy. “You just gave us fodder for the fifth and sixth seasons!” joked Callie Thorne. The rest of the cast really couldn’t stop laughing!

OK! Exclusive: Brad Garrett Suffers Another Blow

November 8th, 2007

The writer’s strike may offer a welcome reprieve for Til Death star Brad Garrett, who’s been in and out of the headlines recently. The towering actor got into hot water over the summer for allegedly swinging at a paparazzi’s camera, and just recently he and his wife of seven years, Jill Divens, finalized their divorce.

Now Garrett’s been dealt yet another blow after his father passed away last week. Brad’s co-star Joely Fisher tells OK! that her pal is holding up, but that it’s been difficult.

“We’ve gotten to e-mail back and forth and he’s going through, once again, a really dark time for him,” explained Joely. “I sent him my prayers and said, ‘Don’t worry, we’ll hold down the fort.’ “

As for Fisher, when OK! caught up with her at Tara Home in West Hollywood, where she hosted the book launch party for Alter Your Space: Guide to the Restorative Home by Jagatjoti Khalsa, she’s trying to keep busy while Til Death is on “involuntary hiatus” because of the writers’ strike and jokes she may try to “do an album finally. I don’t need a writer for that — at least not one in the guild.”

“Wonder Wife” Joely Fisher Learns From Her Girls

October 1st, 2007

Joely Fisher may be the parent, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t learn a thing or two from her kids. The ‘Til Death star tells OK! at the CelEBration at the Pier event that her daughters, Sklyar, 6, and True, 20 months, with husband Christopher Duddy, are constantly schooling her — in a good way.

“They teach me everything,” Joely tells OK!. “They teach me perspective. They teach me to not take myself so seriously. They teach me that my job is a job. It’s my career, but it’s not more important than what we do when we’re not working.”

So what do they do during her downtime?

They spend the day together. “Just being able to be with them. Tomorrow we’ll probably go sit in a park where nobody is. Playtime.”

But it’s not always fun and games. Wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the term “Wonder Wife,” the 39-year-old says she’s worked hard to earn that prestigious title.

“I am a superhero,” she jokes. “I bring home the bacon. I put it in the pan. I change the diapers.”
