Rachael Ray isn’t exactly the quiet type. So it sounds like this Christmas is going to be quite a shock for the TV chef.
Last night she told OK! that she’s going to be temporarily silenced by throat surgery in December — and will spend the holiday writing out everything she wants to say on pieces of paper!
"I’m going to be celebrating very quietly," she told us at Rosie O’Donnell’s Building Dreams for Kids gala in New York.
"I’m having voice surgery on the 16th and I have to be quiet for two weeks. Can you imagine? It will truly be a silent night!"
While she’s recovering Rachael is going to write notes to her husband, John Cusimano, but it doesn’t sound like she’s going to have any less to say.
“I’m going to get lots of notebooks," she explained. "I’m going to get the callous I had in grade school back from writing!"
Rachael said that the surgery to fix a problem with her throat — which has meant she suffers laryngitis-like symptoms on an almost weekly basis — is very simple and that she’ll be back at work (and loud again!) by early January.

Rachael Ray’s rocker husband, John Cusimano is opening up about the recent rumors circulating that he and his wife are in the midst of marital hell.
In an interview with Extra, Cusimano says, "It was like, ‘What?’ It’s so frickin’ weird, but now I think of it as, ‘Ah, it comes with the territory.’ "
Cusimano also reveals what it’s like living with the kitchen queen and admits he may never have married Ray if she wasn’t a fan of his band. "What I didn’t know was, and she secretly told me later, ‘Oh no. This guy’s in a band. I hope he doesn’t suck.’ "

While most people go home from work to unwind, Rachael Ray brings the office home with her.
The celebrity cook extraordinaire’s favorite thing to do at home is exactly what she does all day at work — whip up meals.
“She cooks all the time!” her husband John Cusimano tells OK! at the Food Bank event. “She’ll be at work and have to cook three or four meals. To unwind, believe it or not, she likes to cook.”
John certainly doesn’t mind that. “Me and my stomach are very happy about it,” he says.
As for Rachael, she says she cooks dinner every night and isn’t short on recipes. “We make dinner every night so that’s as varied as there are numbers of days in the year,” she says. “We make something every night.”
You can be sure Italian food is one of the staples on the dinner table at the household though. “We eat a largely Mediterranean diet, so lots of canned fish, lots of canned tomatoes, lots of canned peas, lots of fish,” Rachael says. “We love sardines and anchovies, which are also healthy for you, which is great. Pasta, of course. You’ve gotta love it.”

Every week, it appears as if the tabloids are trying to find a new reason to split up one-woman industry Rachael Ray and her husband, John Cusimano. But in spite of the rumors, the foodie and her lawyer/musician hubby still appear to be going strong.
“I’m a happily married lady,” Rachael tells TV’s Extra in an interview to air Monday night “I have a man who does the dishes for me, does the grocery shopping. He’s free legal advice. He’s awfully handsome and he’s a rock star too. Why would I give him back?”
And when it comes to responding to the rumors every time they pop up, Rachael says they fight back for the sake of her and John’s families. “Every time we’re on the cover of some tabloid and it says something awful about us, we spend all day answering… people that are worried about us,” Rachael explains. “It wasn’t so much important for us as it was for the people that care about us. I thought it would give some relief to an otherwise crazy situation. Every week, it’s texting back… still fine, still happy, we’re good.”
