JOHN TURTURRO TALKS SUSAN SARANDON, LONG-LASTNG MARRIAGE

September 8th, 2007

John Turturro directs Susan Sarandon in the musical Romance and Cigarettes (out now).

“She’s really funny,” he tells me. “She’s a person who’s always aware of every person on the crew. If anyone has a problem, she’s the person who will take care of it. She’s a real team person. She likes to take care of everybody. She’s a lovely person.”

John, 50, has been married to wife Katherine for twenty-two years, and they are parents to two sons Armedeo, 17, and Diego, 7. The couple enjoys traveling, exercising and listening to music together. Why are they a match made in heaven? “We listen to each other. We still like each other. We still discover certain things about each other. It’s hard to be in a long relationship, especially in this business. She’s someone I respect, too.”

EDIE FALCO FEEDS HER SON – AND HE GROWS!

August 31st, 2007

It took a movie musical starring her former Sopranos co-star James Gandolfini and directed by John Turturro to tear Edie Falco, 44, away from her 2 ½ year-old son Anderson. “He is beyond spectacular,” she told me at the premiere of Romance and Cigarettes on August 30. “I can’t believe what happens when you just feed this little guy. He grows and grows, and becomes smart and funny and has a personality. I’m just dumbfounded.”

So how has motherhood changed Edie? “It’s slowed me down,” she says. “It’s made me realize it’s not really all about me, which is a very good thing to learn at a certain point in your life.” Post-Sopranos, Edie says, “I’m reading a lot of scripts, and hoping to find something I’m excited by. Thus far, I’m a little daunted, but I’m looking.”
