Christina Aguilera: Ready for Baby #2!
December 4th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff
When asked what was the last thing her son Max did to surprise her, Christina Aguilera smiles and says, “He’s a bundle of amazing surprises!” The star, who turns 28 on Dec. 18, and her husband, Jordan Bratman, want to add to their family because she says becoming a mom has been such a great experience. Christina, whose greatest hits album Keeps Gettin’ Better is being sold exclusively at Target and target.com, spoke to OK! about her son, Max, who turns 1 in January.
Any plans for a sibling for Max?
I hope so. We definitely want to have another child. Having Max has been an amazing experience. He surprises e every day. In a year, he has grown so much, now he crawls and is starting to walk.
What makes your marriage work?
I have the most wonderful partner in Jordan. We make it a priority to work on our marriage. You have to take it seriously and respect each other and be a team. We always have date nights as well — it helps to keep the marriage alive after you have kids. My husband and I love to play board games together!
What advice would you give to the 20-year-old Christina?
I would have told myself that anything is possible because it is. Also, work hard and trust your instincts.
Why did you decide to exclusively sell your album at Target?
I had worked with Target in the past and I really loved the fact that they listened to me as an artist. I am very particular with my album, from the music to the photos to the ads. Target really allowed me to give my input and put my stamp on the campaign. I shared with them what my inspiration was and they let me run with it.
You’ve collaborated with Madonna before. She’s another working mom, has she inspired you?
For so many years she has been such a great business woman and a model-type that broke so many boundaries and stereotypes for women, in this business in particular. She was the queen of criticism for her day and age and thank God she was the first to bare it all and she keeps going, so I support her 100 percent. She’s a mom of three and still doing it, on tour. I’m having trouble gearing up for my tour just thinking about how it’s going to be for Max, but we’re a traveling family and that’s just the way it’s going to be.
Do you get nervous before you perform?
I think any good performer does as we want to give it our all for our fans. The biggest worry is living up to the fans expectations. But once you are on stage you let the adrenaline kick in.
What’s your favorite song to sing live?
You can’t ask me to pick — it’s like asking which child is your favorite! They are
all very special to me. “Genie in a Bottle” was my break into mainstream, so I hold a place for it. And I think “Beautiful” is such an inspirational ballad.
If you had a genie in a bottle, like your song said, what would you wish for?
You know what, looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing. I am really blessed.

Jordan & Xtina: Whee-ly Different!
September 11th, 2008
While husband Jordan Bratman hailed a cab outside NYC’s SoHo Grand Hotel on Sept. 2, Christina Aguilera, 27, opted for a limo.
She was hardly a diva the previous night, signing photos of herself for fans. "Her baby Max kept trying to grab the photos," an onlooker tells OK!.
The new mom stirred up old rivalries when it was announced that both she and Britney Spears would be at this year’s VMA Awards. Britney opened the show, and Christina later performed–the first time since giving birth to her son Max, 8 months.
"I’m very excited," she said. "This will be his first time watching me perform on television, but only for a little while because he’s not allowed to watch television yet."
Christina Aguilera Confirms VMA Performance
September 4th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff
Less than a day after it was announced that Britney Spears would be making an appearance — but not performing — at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards, it was confirmed that another singing superstar mom, Christina Aguilera, would both be showing up to the 25th annual ceremony and singing live.
"I’m very excited," said Christina about the news, which was announced at a press conference at Paramount Studios in L.A. Refering to her 8-month-old son Max Liron, Xtina said, "This will be his first time watching me perform on television, but only for a little while because he’s not really allowed to watch television yet. I’ll make an exception for the VMAs."
British comedian Russell Brand, who was on hand for the announcement, joked, "That kid is going to grow up with a hell of an Oedipus complex!"
In 2003, Christina and Britney made the list of most memorable VMA moments when they joined Madonna for a three-way, all-girl smooch after the Material Girl’s show-opening performance of a medley of her hits.
Also confirmed for Sunday’s ceremony:
• T.I. will perform with Rihanna.
• The Jonas Brothers (who Brand labeled "God’s favorite virgins") will perform and have asked to be introduced by Taylor Swift — a request that Brand joked was "made from below their sexy little waists."
• Katy Perry will perform Madonna’s pop classic "Like a Virgin."
• Pete Wentz will somehow be involved with the beginning of the show, "probably with his wife, who is pregnant" said Brand.
• Kanye West will close the show with a performance.
Check it all out when the VMAs air live on MTV, Sunday night at 9pm ET.
Christina “Excited” About Rock the Vote PSA with Son
June 26th, 2008
Knowing full well her 5-month-old son Max will be subjected to an exorbitant amount of press through his life, Christina Aguilera decided to take matters into her own hands and expose him on her own terms — in a Rock the Vote PSA.
The Grammy-winning songstress recently filmed a PSA with her little guy in an effort to encourage the youth of America to vote in the upcoming presidential election.
"Being that I am someone that is in the limelight, I just figured he is going to be, time and time again, probably, subjected to, you know, the press, in one shape or another and in a way, where I’m really not going to have much control over," Christina said on Larry King Live Wednesday night.
"And so what a great way to sort of subject him in such a positive way and in such a great time in history to do something as positive as getting people to vote and getting people to care about their country and get excited about this change."
"Extra excited" about involving her family in this historic presidential campaign, Christina, who’s married to music executive Jordan Bratman, hardly hesitated to say "yes" when Rock the Vote approached her with the idea.
"In particular, for me, being a new mother, you know, it was really important for me to get involved and get excited about this election in particular, being such one of change and new development for our country and for the future of my son," the 27-year-old said.
The ad, which will air this summer, features Christina cradling an American flag-swaddled Max while cooing a lullaby version of "America the Beautiful" to him. Toning down her normal vocal acrobatics was, of course, necessary.
"Since I’m holding my son, I’m not going to, you know, belt in his face or anything like that," she said. "But it was really, really nice to bring it down to a really intimate moment between me and my son and kind of symbolizing what this song means in the sense that it’s passing it on to the next generation. It’s trying to contribute in a way to make the future better for my son."
