Josh Hartnett puts the rumors to rest about his health scare during the New Yorkers For Children Fool’s Fete to benefit youth in foster care held Wednesday at NYC’s Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
On March 30, the actor was hospitalized for several days with a gastrointestinal problem.
“I’m in great shape,” Josh, 30, tells me. “They made a huge deal out of it because I left the Chateau Marmont. That’s where I always stay. I got sick. I went to the hospital. I’m fine. I just had a stomach virus. It was literally a 24-hour thing. I was so dehydrated that I needed to be on a couple IVs, but I’m good now.”
How did he get it?
“It’s been reoccurring because I spend a lot of time in Third World countries,” Josh says. “I drink the water occasionally when I shouldn’t in the shower, and it sometimes catches up with you.”
He continues, “I’m in perfect shape. I had a little stomach virus, and I went to the hospital, was on an IV, got out the next day. Everyone flipped out about it. Nothing to worry about. I’ll be around for a while.”
Although he won’t I.D. who he is dating when Kirsten Dunst is name-dropped, he reveals he’s looking for “honesty” when it comes to relationships, and eligible bachelorettes can win his heart by tuning into his favorite sitcom Eastbound and Down.

Either the stomach problems that had <a href="http://okmagazine.com/search/hartnett" target="_blank"><strong>Josh Hartnett</strong></a> laid up in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Monday weren’t as dire as they were first made out to be, or the actor is putting on a brave face and partying through the pain.
Last night, Josh, who was released from the hospital as early as Wednesday, made his way out to Hollywood hotspot MyHouse, where he hunkered down at a table in the club’s ultra-VIP sunken living room with four guy pals, including actor Stephen Dorff.
Dressed casual in a black beanie and black frames, Josh partied all night and even met up with buddy Jared Leto on the way out to hit up some after-hours festivities. If only everyone had such quick recoveries!

Though it was first reported by OK!’s own Simply Jen blog on Wednesday, Josh Hartnett’s rep has finally confirmed that the star is out of the hospital.
The Pearl Harbor star was taken by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles early Monday morning for what were said to be "severe abdominal pain."
But E! Online is reporting that he has since checked out.
"He is out of the hospital," Hartnett’s rep, Susan Patricola, told E! News. No further details—including the actual date of his release—were given.
The website also said Friday that Sienna Miller reportedly flew from Miami to visit him in the hospital Wednesday.
The actor had been picked up by an ambulance the Chateau Marmont hotel in West Hollywood.
TMZ reported at the time that the actor wasn’t carried in on a stretcher and was able to walk to the transport on his own.
Reports indicated that Hartnett was suffering from a flare-up from a previously existing gastrointestinal problem.
