Hillary Clinton/Hope DavisJulianne Moore has stepped out of the role of Hillary Clinton in new HBO Films/BBC Films movie The Special Relationship, due to a scheduling conflict, and will be replaced by Tony nominee and In Treatment star, Hope Davis, The Hollywood Reporter says.

The movie follows the unique and often bumpy relationship between President Bill Clinton, played by Dennis Quaid, and the new British Prime Minister Tony Blair, played by Michael Sheen, in the late 1990s.

Michael Sheen played Blair in The Queen, and his onscreen wife Cherie Blair in that movie will again be played by Helen McCrory. The film will be directed by Richard Loncraine, and is written by Peter Morgan.

Julianne Moore, Gael Garcia Bernal Do ‘Blindness’ Premiere

September 16th, 2008

Adrien Brody makes a surprise appearance during the Blindness premiere held at the Elgin Theatre during the Toronto International Film Festival. He’s sporting a burly beard, and almost goes unnoticed.

Julianne Moore, Gael Garcia Bernal, Mark Ruffalo and director Fernando Mereilles are among the all-stars in the mystery drama that tells the story about what happens when a town is overcome by loss of sight.

“I love Toronto,” Julianne says. “My family likes it here, too. It’s a great city.”

And, what about the cast?

“There are tremendously talented people coming out of Latin America right now,” Julianne says. “It was a privilege to work with them.”

Here is Gael, who asks if we’d like him to speak in English or Spanish.

“This is the official premiere of the baby,” he says. “I feel all right. Everything’s good. Life is good. I’m dying to see the film because this is the new version. I saw the first version in Cannes, and I’m looking forward to it.”

Time for baby talk about the little one he’s expecting with girlfriend Dolores Fonzi.

What’s next?

“I don’t know!” Gael says. “I really want to know. I’m unemployed at the moment.”

Did Mark bring the family to Toronto?

“I took her as a date,” he says, pointing to wife Sunrise. “It’s going to be a six-day date.”

The three kids are at home.

Blindness is in theaters September 26.

Julianne Moore: Naked Is Nothing!

May 29th, 2008

A lot of people would think of getting naked in front of millions of movie-goers as kind of a big deal. But not Julianne Moore. She just can’t see what all the fuss is about.

In fact, the Boogie Nights star told Parade.com that a gun shot in a movie should be a lot more shocking to viewers than a nude shot.

Julianne, 47, has stripped for several roles, including Body of Evidence and the Big Lebowski. And the End of the Affair and Boogie Nights and Short Cuts, as well as her 2007 film Savage Grace.

But she says that people’s obsession with nudity means that her more clothed work is overlooked.

"I think it is unfortunate that we have this incredible fascination with actors being naked, when in fact, it’s really not very important," she told the Web site, "and for the most part it does have something to do with the film.

"When you see a gun going off in a movie it’s a pretty shocking and horrific thing, and nobody ever talks about that," she huffed.

"I’ve done a lot of films and I’ve only taken my clothes off in few, but people can’t stop talking about it."

Julianne, whose latest movie, Blindness, premiered in Cannes last week, also said that filming a screen kiss is more frightening than a sex scene.

"The scariest thing to do for me, frankly, is to kiss an actor because that’s very intimate," she said.

"Whenever you kiss anybody in real life for the first time, it’s terrifying. If you have to kiss an actor that you are working with it’s equally terrifying."
