Seems like there’s no chance of Kate Walsh ending her marriage with Alex Young amicably: her lawyer Laura Wasser has gone ahead and requested a trial date in their divorce, TMZ reports, which isn’t a sign of friendly terms.
Alex is reportedly all about getting info on the house they bought before they were married, and Kate allegedly feels pressured to give him informaiton she thinks he already has. The two were only married for 14 months.
Complicated, but it boils down to this: getting a court date means they’ve got to settle things on their own, or they’ll go before a judge. Alex’s lawer tells TMZ the case is "nowhere near ready for trial."
PICS OF KATE AND ALEX IN HAPPIER TIMES:
Kate Walsh has had an amazing past few years. A brief stint on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy in 2005 led to her own spinoff show, Private Practice, making her a household name.
But in a new interview with Redbook, the actress shares some of her not-so-happy times–most recently her whirlwind romance, marriage and divorce from Alex Young.

"I don’t think anyone gets married thinking that they will get divorced," Walsh says. "We certainly did not. Alex and I still care for each other, and I wish him nothing but the best. The silver lining to this, however, is that I have a wonderful family and a great group of friends who really showed their support and encouragement and for that I am truly grateful."
Walsh is quick to add that she doesn’t wallow in self-pity. When asked to describe herself in three words, she blurts out "funny, willful," and–"troublemaker."
And art seems to be imitating life on the set of her own show, Private Practice. This month, her character, Dr. Addison Montgomery, returns to the set of Grey’s Anatomy, where she and Dr. Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) ties up some loose ends. "We explore the history of Addison and Derek, and they get this sort of closure," Walsh says. "That’s been really fun to do, because they got divorced and that was the end. Now this is facing it and dealing with it."
But back to that troublemaking trait—when asked what mischief she most misses getting into, Walsh says, "I still like to make crank calls! Remember when you could mildly stalk a guy? Not anymore man. They can be at your front door in five minutes. There’s just no mystery now."
Kate Walsh’s marriage was flatlining from the start, say friends of the Private Practice star and her movie executive husband, Alex Young.
“They fought like cats and dogs,” a source tells OK!, of the doomed 15 month union.
“Even before they got married, they were always bickering. And not over anything important; it was always stupid, petty things.”
The pair tied the knot on Sept. 1, 2007, in a lavish Ojai, Calif., wedding featured exclusively in OK!, but pals of the couple were hardly surprised when Alex, 37, filed for divorce from Kate, 41, on Dec. 9.
“Shocked? I was more shocked to hear that they were getting married,” the pal says.
“They loved fighting because the making up was great.”
Looking back, it didn’t sound like things were off to such a promising start.
Just five weeks into their wedding, Kate said on the Ellen Degeneres Show that she didn’t feel like she knew where to go with the relationship.
"There was this kind funny moment after we got married, all of the hoopla’s over, and you get home and you’re like, ‘We’re married. Cool, what do we do now?’," Kate, who plays Dr. Addison Montgomery on the ABC show, told Ellen.
Only a little more than a year after Kate Walsh wed husband Alex Young, the Private Practice star and her husband are calling it quits.
"Papers have been filed to amicably end the marriage of executive Alex Young and actress Kate Walsh," a rep for the actress confirms in a statement to OK!. "The couple remain on friendly terms and sincerely hope the media will respect their privacy during this difficult time."
Entertainment Tonight was the first to report that movie executive Alex filed for divorce from the actress, citing irreconcilable differences.
The couple met in February of 2007 and were enaged only three months later, followed by their Sept. 1 wedding that same year, in a ceremony featured in the pages of OK!. The star’s Grey’s Anatomy co-stars were on hand to celebrate the union, including Katherine Heigl, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson and Sara Ramirez.
"I’m living the dream," Kate once said of her love life and successful TV career.
