Russell Brand To Star In Pirates 4?

Russell Brand’s been sailing on choppy waters this week.

Just days after he resigned from his high-paid job at the BBC for making ‘indecent’ prank calls, it is being reported that Russell could be about to climb aboard one of the biggest movie franchises of all time.

The Brit, who was a controversial choice to host this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, is said to be "thrashing out a deal" to appear as Captain Jack Sparrow’s younger brother in Pirates of the Caribbean 4.

According to Britain’s Sun newspaper, the flamboyant actor could be paid up to $8milllion to play alongside Johnny Depp and Keith Richards, who is expected to reprise his role as Sparrow’s dad.

The paper quotes their source as saying: "There couldn’t be a role more perfectly suited. There’s a lot of Jack Sparrow in his mannerisms and behaviour.

"Depp’s accent isn’t a million miles away from Russell’s either.

"Russell joining the Sparrows alongside Johnny and Keith Richards as their dad will complete the ultimate on-screen pirate family."

On Oct. 29, Russell quit his job hosting a late-night show on BBC Radio 2 after the station received thousands of complaints about a broadcast in which he and another BBC star left messages on a 78-year-old actor’s answer machine claiming that Russell had slept with the man’s granddaughter.

Rolling Stones Make Love, Life Work

The Rolling Stones are blessed with loving long and aging healthfully.

Ron Wood describes his bandmates. “Mick never stops moving. Charlie is a mischievous schoolboy, and Keith is a devious schoolboy.”

What’s the pecking order in the posh accommodations category?

“Mick on the top bunk, then me, then Charlie.”

On the lucky-in-love front, Keith Richards, 64, will celebrate 25 years with wife Patti Hansen in December.

“There is no secret to it,” the father of two says. “It’s another love. It’s a matter of protection. Sometimes we fight, sometimes we don’t.”

Also, Ron, 61, has been married to wife Jo for – well, a long time.

What’s his magic potion?

“Remain friends,” the father of four says. “We’ve been together over 23, 27 years. I’ve got no idea. If you’re friends with someone, you can hang with them, you know?”

Since Ron says the Stones will never retire, these ladies are giving their husbands away to the road.

“We’re like the old blues boys,” Ron says. “I think we’re going to rock till we drop. I have an uncontrollable energy. I can’t stop. It’s so funny. I can’t sleep. I enjoy myself all the time.”

Uh oh, it’s another actor-turned-musician. Ed Westwick, who plays Gossip Girl smarm-master Chuck Bass, and his band the Filthy Youth played at New York City’s the Annex this past weekend. In the audience—fellow Gossip Girls Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford and Jessica Szohr, reports Rush & Molloy. Westwick lived up to his band’s name when later that night, after allegedly imbibing plenty of drinks onstage, stumbled outside and yelled, “I’m so f—ed up!” What a rebel soul!

 

The love between Mick Jagger and Keith Richards will forever endure—right? “He’s full of piss; someone has to extract it,” said Richards to describe his relationship with the Rolling Stones lead singer. But they really do love each other. “Sometimes [Mick] gets heated at me…but it never really lasts because he knows he’s full of it,” the hard-living craggy-faced Stones guitarist told Rush & Molloy at the premiere for the Martin Scorcese documentary on the Stones, Shine a Light.

One woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure. Just ask Stavros Niarchos—vaunted ex of both Mary-Kate Olsen and Paris Hilton. The Greek shipping heir was seen on Saturday night leaving a party with not one, but three, women. Niarchos patted each on the head and counted them as they walked out, reports Page Six. Proving his stellar mathematical skills, the young Niarchos then counted out loud, “one, two, three,” before hopping into a waiting Escalade with his bevy of beauties.

Los Angeles police are considering whether to open up an investigation into allegations that Britney Spears has been drugged. Brit’s mother, Lynne Spears, claimed in recent court papers that the pop singer had been drugged by pal Sam Lufti in an effort by Lufti to take control of Spears’ life.

 

The Olsen twins — in print! Continuing their uber-world domination, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have signed up to put out a coffee table book about fashion called Influence, due out in the fall. The book promises exclusive shots of the twins in all their homeless chic glory and will feature interviews with many of their famous fashion friends.

 

Rolling Stone Keith Richards says “just say ‘no’?” That’s right! The former junkie warned his younger counterparts to “lay off the dope. That’s my advice now to all younger, uh, members who are into this sort of thing. I knoooow the fascination, but it ain’t worth it," reports the Mirror. Here’s hoping Amy Winehouse gets the memo.
