Kiefer Sutherland Grateful for Support

Kiefer Sutherland might be going through a bit of trouble with the law, after an alleged head-butting incident involving designer Jack McCollough at a Met Institute Costume Benefit after party last Tuesday, but he seems to be handling it well.
The actor spoke to Entertainment Tonight at the season finale party for 24 last night, in an interview airing tonight.
"I’m not really in a position to comment until the situation is really dealt with, but I’ve felt a lot of support and I’m grateful for that," he tells ET.
Kiefer turned himself in last week and was charged with one count of misdemeanor assault.
Kiefer’s Camp Releases Statement

A week after Kiefer Sutherland allegedly headbutted designer Jack McCullough at a Met Costume Institute Benefit after party, and days after he turned himself in to the NYPD, his lawyer has released a statement on his behalf.
"We are troubled by the untruthful and self-serving information circulating regarding Kiefer Sutherland and events of last Monday evening," reads the statement from Michael C. Miller, from the law firm of Steptoe & Johnson." We are confident, however, that the investigation being conducted by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the NYPD will confirm that Kiefer Sutherland was neither the instigator nor a wrongdoer in this incident. Out of respect for this law enforcement process, Kiefer Sutherland will not be making any comment."
Kiefer was charged last week with one count of misdemeanor assault and was issued an appearance citation.
Kiefer Sutherland Turns Himself In

Kiefer Sutherland took responsibility for his actions today, as he turned himself in to the NYPD. He allegedly head-butted designer Jack McCollough at a Met Costume Institute Gala after party earlier this week, E! News reports.
The 24 star arrived at the NYPD’s 1st precinct today and was charged with one count of misdemeanor assault and was issued an appearance citation. He’ll be able to travel before his arraignment.
The strange incident apparently occurred when Kiefer confronted McCollough, who he says made a slight against Brooke Shields, also a guest at the event. He then head-butted the designer. However, Brooke’s reps say the designer hadn’t done anything to provoke the attack.

Kiefer Sutherland and his wife of eight years, Elizabeth Sutherland, are officially divorced.
The 24 star and his wife separated almost ten years ago and Kiefer filed for divorce back in 2004. The divorce was finalized on Friday. According to court documents, Elizabeth will go back to her maiden name.
Kiefer, 41, and his ex-wife had no children. Keifer has a child from a previous marriage.
