Kim Raver’s Brand New Gig

March 10th, 2009

Lipstick Jungle may not be technically cancelled by NBC yet, but that hasn’t stopped some of its stars like Kim Raver from getting new gigs.

"I’m really excited," Kim tells OK! of her new ABC drama pilot where she plays a knockout news reporter. "It’s [produced by] Shonda Rhimes from Grey’s Anatomy. It’s about reporters in Washington and it’s called Inside the Box, everything that kind of goes on creating a news channel. It’s really great."

Lipstick
co-star Lindsay Price also has a new show in the works.

"Lindsay’s new show ("Eastwick") is ABC, and mine’s ABC so at least we’ll have that connection," Kim told OK! at Modern Bride’s "Project Bridesmaids" to benefit Planet Hope. "I’ll miss Brooke [Shields] and Lindsay but we’re so close now. We talk almost every day."

So is there any hope that Lipstick Jungle still might come back?

"We’re doing other projects but we still have one foot in and one foot out," Kim says. "Brooke and I, our kids play together and we’ll always have that."

Brooke Shields’ Tea Party

Brooke’s Tea Party

October 23rd, 2008

Brooke Shields bowled over guests at a Tupperware Tea Party, held at The House, a 19th-century carriage house turned restaurant, in NYC on Oct. 18.

The Lipstick Jungle star and spokesperson for Tupperware’s Chain of Confidence
campaign nibbled on lobster cod cakes as guests sipped Tupper-Tea-ni’s, all to
raise funds for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s SMART Girls program.

“Tupperware was one of the first companies to say it’s okay to be a mom and still earn a living,” Brooke told OK!.

The busy mom of two then proudly showed off her own Tupperware line,
Radiance by Tupperware, to her co-star Kim Raver and Jane Krakowski from 30
Rock
.

“We’ve made many pancakes Saturday morning using them,” chuckled Brooke, who admitted she’d like to expand her family.

“Maybe we’ll wait a couple of years and then adopt,” she said.

Fellow Lipstick star David Alan Basche kept a protective arm around his pregnant wife, The Starter Wife’s Alysia Reiner, and Brooke’s on-screen hubby, Paul Blackthorne, made an appearance.

"He’s here on the dot, cleaned up and dressed so cute,” Brooke cooed. “Thank
you, on-screen husband.”

Robert Buckley: More Skin!

September 16th, 2008

To watch Robert Buckley in a scene as his character Kirby on NBC’s Lipstick Jungle is almost certainly to see him without his shirt off (and that is not a bad thing), as the younger man romancing Kim Raver’s married character, Nico.

Hold onto your remotes ladies, because the hunky blond says he’ll be showing even more skin on season two of the show.

"It’s Kirby, so let’s be honest, he’s going to find himself in a couple situations sans T-shirt," he told reporters at the Lipstick Jungle season two premiere party hosted by Maybelline last night at Studio 450 in NYC.

How does he prepare for those stripped down moments?

"There’s a lot of crossing of my fingers and praying and hoping that the lights find my body correctly and make it look flattering. And probably some last minute jazzercising," he jokes.

Besides seeing him practically naked, Robert tells OK! we’ll also see more developments with his character.

"We’re going to get to see [Kirby's] mom, and I assure you that that is a very, very interesting turn," he reveals to OK!. "And there’s also a whole new element that you’re going to see at the end of the season and new emotions that you haven’t seen before. It’s a good time for Kirby."

As for remaining a one-woman guy, Robert won’t give away too much about his character, but does hint, "he certainly does his fair share of romancing and heartbreaking."

With a smile like that, we’d let Kirby (or Robert) break our heart any day!

Stars Dish Out Beauty Tips

August 12th, 2008

Stars have access to the best in beauty, and are eager to share their tips for looking good.

“I always say natural’s the best way to go because when you go to a nice dinner and you darken your makeup up, they think ‘wow, that’s a difference’ rather than wearing the same thing every day and you just look normal every day,” Selena Gomez tells me.  “Natural’s always the best way to go.”

“Drink lots of water – that always helps – and I don’t really go out in the sun anymore, which is a good thing because I used to go out in the sun a lot ‘cause I’m from Florida,” Brittany Snow tells me. “My skin has changed drastically when I don’t. I’m kinda just trying to stay away. Bronzer. Bronzer’s my best friend.”

“If you want to look more awake, you can put white eyeliner in either side of your eye and it makes your eyes look like they pop,” Natasha Bedingfield says.

“I don’t take off my makeup, I eat fast food, I do everything bad,” Danity Kane’s Aubrey O’Day tells me. How does she get photo-ready? “My biggest thing about pictures is how you feel. The pictures where I don’t look as good, I’m not as happy, I think, so however you’re feeling inside as a person that day kind of comes out in photos.”

“Sleep!” Diane Kruger says.

“I wear a big smile,” Sara Bareilles tells me.

“Moisturize before you put your makeup on, always,” Emmy Rossum tells me. “It’ll make you extra-glowy in the summertime.”

Rihanna can’t get enough of Cover Girl makeup.

“I love their products, so I always use their products.”

Kelly Ripa tells me, “Hire a good makeup artist and hairstylist. That’s it. I mean, really. I’ve tried to do it myself and it never works out. I need experts. I need all the experts I can get.”

Bijou Phillips
has odd advice.

“Go in the sun and don’t wear sunblock,” she tells me. “It’s true. Sunblock changes the molecular structure of UVA and UVB rays and turns it into something else that isn’t real molecules so they sort of become free radicals. The second the sun hits your skin, the UVA and UVB molecules turn into foreign molecules that our bodies don’t really know how to identify. So your face is covered in free radicals, which I think is the main reason people get skin cancer.”

Oh really?

“Yeah because it’s changing the molecular structure of these molecules and cancer is a large amount of free radicals. You’re putting this thing on to not get cancer but you’re actually putting the most horrible thing you can on your face, which is free radicals that your body doesn’t know how to identify. I think it’s increasing the chances of skin cancer. But there are natural sunblocks you can get, but if you get a good base tan and you don’t burn, you’re pretty much OK. Just wear hats and sunglasses. You don’t need to cover yourself in 45. It’s bad for you.”

Ashanti swears by her own OPC-3 Beauty Blend.

“It’s a powdered vitamin,” she tells me. “It’s really good for skin and nails and internally for your immune system. With me traveling so much and going in and out of airports, there’s a lot of germs. It helps build up your immune system and gives energy.”

“Water,” Kim Raver says. “No, I’m joking, but there is some truth to that. I find that if I don’t drink enough water, it definitely shows in your skin. But then I would say mascara, eyelash curler, and Clarins makes this easy facial soap at night, which is the best thing ever.”
