Angelina Heads Home with Twins

July 19th, 2008

One week after giving birth to twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, Angelina Jolie has finally gone home from the hospital in Nice, France, where she had been staying for almost three weeks.

"Mrs Angelina Jolie left the clinic Santa Maria of Foundation Lenval early in the morning, on July 19," reads a statement on the hospital’s web site. "The mother and her babies are doing very well."

Despite the brigade of photographers and reporters camped outside the hospital, Angelina was able to leave the hospital without being spotted and return to the rented countryside estate she and the family she shares with partner Brad Pitt have been residing in since coming to France for the Cannes Film Festival in May.

It’s a Girl — and a Boy — for Brad & Angelina!

July 12th, 2008

It’s official! After several false reports, Angelina Jolie’s doctor has confirmed that the Oscar winner and her partner, Brad Pitt are now the proud parents of twins — one boy and one girl — named Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline.

According to Dr. Michael Sussman, the doctor who delivered the twins at Lenval Hospital in Nice, France, the children were delivered by C-Section on Saturday evening and weighed in at 5.03 lbs (Knox Leon) and 5 lbs (Vivienne Marcheline).

"Everything is going well," said Sussmann in a statement to the Associated Press. "The mother, the babies, the father are doing marvelously well."

Angelina had checked into the hospital on July 1 in anticipation of the birth.

The babies are the fifth and sixth children for the longtime couple and make big brothers and sisters out of Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 2.

The actress emphatically "announced" she was pregnant at the Independent Spirit Awards in February, flaunting a very pointy baby bump on the red carpet. After months of keeping silent, Angelina finally confirmed reports she would be having two great expectations on the Today show in May when Kung Fu Panda co-star — and new dadJack Black let it slip.

"Poor Jack! Immediately when he saw Brad, he apologized," Angelina has said. "But we both told him very clearly that we had only waited because, as you do with any baby, but especially twins, you wait until all results are in on their health, and that we were past that point and if somebody had asked me directly, I would have said yes. So he didn’t do anything but take the heat himself."

Just two weeks later, rumors swirled that the 33-year-old Wanted star had delivered her babies in France, but were later squashed by her rep.

Though Brad, 44, and Angelina have been quite vocal about expanding their clan, the Oscar winner says they weren’t expecting to multiply so quickly, admitting the dual pregnancy was a "shock." And while parenting six kids may sound difficult to many, the two are up for a challenge and are determined to make it work.

"Our real focus now is: How do we make sure that the babies’ coming is not upsetting to other kids and makes them feel included," Angelina said. "We’re trying to find ways where it can be a fun group thing. But the hard thing is every single day trying to find time for each of them privately. Everybody gets special time so we can make sure we know where they’re at."

Jack Black Gets Slim & Trim

June 6th, 2008

There’s a little less of Jack Black to go around these days!

The lovably rotund star looks particularly trimmed and fit in his upcoming Vietnman War comedy, Tropic Thunder, and there’s a definite reason for that. After getting more than an eyeful of himself on a 40-foot screen, Jack decided it was time to cut the fat.

"When I saw my rear end in my nude scene in Margot at the Wedding, it actually had a double chin," he tells Parade.com. "I’ve joined a gym because the next time you see me naked I’ll be trim."

Although looking good in nude scenes is priority No. 1, health played a factor in the 38-year-old’s decision as well.

"I want to feel good too," he says. "Now If I eat a cheeseburger and fries, it tastes so good at the time and then right after it’s like, ‘What did I do? Why?’"

Tropic Thunder, co-starring Ben Stiller (who also directed the film) and Robert Downey Jr. revolves around three actors filming a movie about the Vietnam War. Craziness ensues when their director ditches them mid-production.

"I play kind of a Chris Farley-esque type , an actor, who is big into the excesses of the industry," Jack says of his character, Jeff "Fats" Portnoy. "He parties too hard. It’s about shooting a film about the Vietnam War film in Hawaii. My character is looking for a shot at an Oscar because usually he makes fart comedies. Come to think of it, I guess it kind of mirrors my actual reality."

The film hits theaters Aug. 15, but those longing for a dose of Black attack can check out the comedian in the animated Kung Fu Panda, which opened today. Since it was a voice role, Jack, who just welcomed his second son, did not get the chance to learn some martial arts and kick some ass — but he has in the past!

"When I was a kid, I took karate and judo classes," he says. "I even won a trophy in a judo tournament, but I confess I outweighed the competition by 20 pounds. I never took any kung-fu classes though, I just saw it on TV and in the movies."

It’s a Boy for Jack Black!

June 2nd, 2008

Jack Black is a dad again!

The funnyman’s wife, Tanya Haden, gave birth to a boy named Thomas last week, Entertainment Tonight reports.

The 38-year-old announced the news to ET at the Kung Fu Panda premiere, telling the show his new son was "fresh out of the oven."

Thomas is named after Jack — the actor’s given name — and is the couple’s second child and joins big brother Samuel, who turns 2 on June 10.

Hopefully now, Samuel will know which of his parents gave birth. Jack’s been bumping bellies left and right with Tanya and his expectant Kung Fu Panda co-star Angelina Jolie, but because of his round midsection, he recently revealed on The Tonight Show that his son thought daddy was pregnant too.

“He sees mama’s bump on her belly and he goes up to her, points at her belly, and says, ‘baby,’ so he knows. But then the other day he pointed at my belly and said, ‘baby,’ so I don’t know if he really has the concept down,” Jack said. “And he also pointed at my chest area and said, ‘boobies,’ so I need to drop a couple [pounds] I think.”

Where in the World Will Angelina Give Birth?

May 15th, 2008

Details about Angelina Jolie’s pregnancy are being revealed daily, thanks to her Kung Fu Panda co-stars, but one piece of information the actress won’t divulge are her twins’ place of birth.

Though she and Brad Pitt have holed up in France for the past month, Angelina says they have yet to decide where in the world she will deliver the babies, which are due Aug. 19.

“I actually haven’t completely decided, but we are certainly thinking of France,” she says at a Kung Fu Panda press conference at the Cannes Film Festival. “[French] is a second language in our house. I’m still learning so I’m not going to attempt it here today, my rusty French. But my children are starting to speak French, so being here is very good for them, for their language at this time.”

That’s not the only language Brad and Angelina’s brood are learning. Maddox, 6, and Pax, 4, are also learning Cambodian and Vietnamese, along with their respective birth countries’ cultures.

“They know their flags and they know their music, and they know a whole lot about their culture,” she says. “And we bring in as much as we can, and we’ll continue to as they get older.”

Her boys were definitely on her mind when she agreed to sign on to Kung Fu Panda, the 32-year-old says. “The film wasn’t something that I was looking for, but was thrilled when it came my way because I knew how much it would mean to them and how special it would be because of that.”

All of her kids, including Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, who turns 2 on May 27, have seen the flick and “loved it.”

“[That’s] a huge deal because they’re my biggest critics,” Angelina says. “But the truth is, I would have done this film if I didn’t have children, because I think the message is great and I had so much fun doing it. It’s a real pleasure as a mom to be able to bring the kids to a film that you also really feel is a good film.”

And as for whether or not she and Brad will continue to add to their brood after babies No. 5 and 6 arrive, the Oscar winner quipped, "Not at this time, you never know. More babies… You know me!"
