Amy Adams “Wasted” Her 20s Hunting for a Man

July 8th, 2009 / Author: Mary Beth Quirk

Ladies Home JournalIn the new issue of Ladies Home Journal Amy Adams opens up about finding love with actor Darren LeGallo — and about all the years she squandered trying in vain to find a perfect man.

“I spent most of my 20s looking to find a man. What a waste of energy,” Amy admits. “Now I actually have a man and I’m able to focus on becoming a woman.”

A huge turning point in her life — both romantically and professionally — came while filming Julia and Julia with Meryl Streep.

“I got engaged on this film — the day before I finished shooting,” she explains. “Maybe this is a very, I don’t know, young girl statement, but when you’re not seeking to gain the approval of your man, it’s amazing what you can accomplish.”

Christie Brinkley Staying Strong

June 1st, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

After a nasty divorce trial, it’s no wonder Christie Brinkley isn’t the biggest fan of tying the knot anytime soon… if ever.

"I would never get married again," she tells Ladies Home Journal in their July issue. "With what I know I don’t see why anyone would get married."

But far from feeling sorry for herself about her split from Peter Cook, Christie is making amends to everyone else!

"I feel like I should apologize to everybody for them having to read all that tawdry stuff, and having it delivered to their kitchen tables when their kids are around," she admits.

Her marital troubles haven’t put her off love entirely, but she does have a somewhat practical approach to romance.

"I totally believe in true love.  And I think couples should celebrate their love over and over again," she says, adding, "In fact, right at the beginning of a relationship, I would formalize an exit strategy."

So will Christie be looking for love again anytime soon? Not until she’s totally ready.

"I haven’t always followed my own advice, but I’ve always believed that you’ve got to be whole before starting with someone new," she explains. "You’ve got to find that inner peace.  I’d have to feel, ‘Okay, the time is right to be open to that again."

Ellen the Blushing Bride!

February 4th, 2009

While many little girls may dream of their wedding days, imagining their dresses and the flowers they’ll have, Ellen DeGeneres says she wasn’t one of those wishful young women, until she met her wife, Portia de Rossi. The talk show host, who is a new spokeswoman for CoverGirl, admits that she felt her most beautiful on her wedding day.

"It’s just very emotional," she reveals in the March issue of Ladies Home Journal of her union with Portia. "You find the person you love, you think you’ve come this far… and anyway, I never thought I’d have a wedding, and I did, and it meant more than I imagined.”

And although she’s one of the faces of a makeup company, Ellen isn’t focused on her looks.

“To me it’s sad to be defined by beauty, because it’s something that goes away and changes," she says. If you’re trying to chase that forever, you’re in trouble.”  However, she adds, "As I’ve aged and matured, I just feel better about myself, more confident and more comfortable in my own skin.  As that’s happened, I think I look better than I’ve ever looked, because that’s just what happens when you feel better about yourself.”
