Lance Armstrong Welcomes Baby Boy!

June 5th, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

Champion cyclist Lance Armstrong is nothing if not unconvetional. Perhaps that’s why he decided to announce the birth of his son on Thursday night not through a rep or through a statement to the press, but on Twitter.

Shortly before midnight ET on Thursday, Lance posted a link to a baby photo (scroll down for the pic) and the following message on his personal Twitter page:

"Wassup, world? My name is Max Armstrong and I just arrived. My Mommy is healthy and so am I!"

MEET MAX ARMSTRONG:

That was followed about another later with another Tweet:

"@maxarmstrong1 weighed in at 7lbs5oz and is 20 inches long."

As of early Thursday morning, the @maxarmstrong Twitter account was locked and had no followers. But then again, the baby is only a few hours old. Give him a day or two before he joins the rest of the Tweeting celebrities.

Max’s mom is Lance’s girlfriend Anna Hansen; he’s already the proud father of three children with his ex-wife, Kristin.

Last Crumbs…

March 24th, 2009

One last bit to share from experience in Austin…As I ate over-priced takeout sushi from a local sushi spot in LA last night, I was reminded that good everyday takeout/delivery sushi can’t be taken for granted – even though they’re a dime a dozen in NYC.

Then my mouth watered with the memory of the best sushi I’ve ever had, a few days ago – in Austin! Who knew that one of the best sushi restaurants, or restaurants period, in the world, resides in Austin, TX? Uchi. If you live in Austin, ever visit or pass through, make sure to stop at Uchi, a Japanese/ sushi restaurant that also serves a wagyu steak that dances on your palette as it melts in your mouth. Uchi is enough to make a foodie out of the most inexperienced palette. My friend Joyce Sevilla called it, “A party in your mouth.” We told our waitress that the chef Tyson Cole should be on Iron Chef and she said, “He already was.” He had left by the time we ate, but we met Dhef du Cuisine Paul Qui who was amazing. Flattery gets you everywhere -he sent us a complimentary foie gras. Not typically a foie gras fan, I tasted it on principle, and I liked it. I’m told Lance Armstrong, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin are among a host of celebs that love Uchi in Austin too. I want to petition for Uchi to open in LA.?? Our other dinner companion, Rembrandt Flores, even said he’d be a primary investor. You hear that Uchi?

Lance Armstrong in Hospital After Bike Crash

March 23rd, 2009

UPDATE 3:29pm:  Lance speaks about his injury, saying: “In 17 years as a pro I have been lucky to avoid one of the most common cycling injuries. The crash has put my upcoming calendar in jeopardy but the most important thing for me right now is to get back home and rest up and begin my rehab."

———-

UPDATE:  Jaciento Vidarte Chief of Press for the Cyclist’s Lap to Castilla & León tells OK!: “It was about a group of 120-130 cyclists, and they all ride pretty close to each other. At any moment with any wrong movement coming from anyone, no one knows who it is or where it came from. Two cyclists can collide, and then some others behind can fall down. One can have bad luck, fall, and just break something… "

"It was a pile-up, and it was a fall down 17.49 yards. A lot of cyclists have fallen at the race. There have been about fifteen other cyclists who have been involved in pile-ups, but none have fallen as hard as Lance Armstrong. The fall was 9.92 miles before reaching the finish line. It was about twenty minutes before reaching the finish line. The race started at twelve ten in the afternoon. Today the [Cyclist’s Lap to Castilla & León] was a little over 109.12 miles long. The race would have been done at approximately 4 p.m….

"He has broken his right collarbone. This afternoon, he will be out of the hospital. At the hospital in Valladolid they will not perform surgery on him. But surgery will be a decision that will be determined later by doctors… He came by himself [pregnant girlfriend Anna Hansen was not with him].”

UPDATE: CNN confirms that doctors say he broke his right collarbone, and since it was a clean break it should make for a quick recovery.

According to CNN: Doctors were determining whether the record seven-time Tour de France champion would need surgery said Jacinto Vidarte, spokesman for the Vuelta Ciclista Castilla y Leon race.

Armstrong could be out three to four weeks, Vidarte added, following a crash that involved a group of 15 to 20 riders some 20 kilometers from the finish."

Cancer survivor and seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong has been taken to a hospital what may be an injured collarbone after falling during the first stage of a five-day race in Spain, ABC News reports.

Lance has taken up cycling again, and was riding with the Astana team in the Vuelta of Castilla and Leon race. Spokesman Philippe Maertens says the Texan was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

CNN reports that a group of 15 to 20 riders fell, according to Bartosz Huzarski, a cyclist racing for the Italian team ISD. It appears that only Lance said he was hurt.

Lance’s Baby Conceived Naturally

December 24th, 2008

Following the news that seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong is expecting a baby with girlfriend Anna Hansen, a spokeswoman for his cancer foundation has confirmed that the baby was conceived the good ol’ fashioned way!

"The baby was conceived naturally," spokeswoman Rae Bazzarre said in a statement to the AP on Wednesday.

Armstrong’s three other children with ex-wife Kristin were conceived through in vitro fertilization with sperm he froze before undergoing chemotherapy for testicular cancer.

Of the news, Lance said in a statement, ”Anna and I are thrilled to confirm that we are expecting in June and our families are ecstatic and grateful. We are very much looking forward to what 2009 brings on many fronts. We appreciate respecting our privacy, as we are both eager to celebrate the holidays as a family.”

Three years after retiring following his last Tour de France win, Armstrong announced in September his return to competition and the Tour de France in 2009. He called his comeback an attempt to raise global awareness in his fight against cancer.

Lance Armstrong to be a Dad Again

December 24th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

Congratulations to Lance Armstrong and his girlfriend Anna Hansen, who announced last night that they are going to become parents together.

"Anna and I are thrilled to confirm that we are expecting in June and our families are ecstatic and grateful," the Tour de France champ said in a statement. "We are very much looking forward to what 2009 brings on many fronts. We appreciate respecting our privacy, as we are both eager to celebrate the holidays as a family."

This will be child number four for Lance, who is already the father to son Luke, 9 and 7-year-old twin daughters Isabella and Grace, with ex-wife Kristin. All three children were conceived via in vitro fertilization.

Since splitting from Kristin in 2003, Lance has been romantically linked to rock star Sheryl Crow, actress Kate Hudson and socialite/designer Tory Burch.

Kate Hudson: “I Love Living Alone”

September 18th, 2008

After starring in a number of feel-good romantic comedies and making tabloid headlines with a string of high-profile boyfriends, single mom Kate Hudson is changing her image onscreen while navigating the dating waters as best she can.

In an interview with Parade, the star of My Best Friend’s Girl opens up about the potty-talking and steamy love scenes with Dane Cook in the new film.

"I actually talk like that. It’s like the first time I actually felt, ‘Oh, I can say the sort of inappropriate things that I say sometimes in real life when I’m talking about people in and out of relationships and stuff.’ It was fun to swear in a movie which I’ve never really done before."

However she, adds, because she has young son, Ryder (father is ex-husband Chris Robinson), Kate trys to keep her language a bit cleaner.

"Now that I have a son, I don’t do it as often on a day-to-day basis," she tells Parade. "But boy, yeah, I can throw out some bad words every once in a while."

After her marriage ended in 2006, Kate has had romances with famous names like Owen Wilson and Lance Armstrong, but is currently single.

"I guess I’ve been in the dating game for like two-and-a-half years now," she says. "But I’ve only dated like three guys. It’s like you meet people, and you enjoy people, and they either work or they don’t. Then one day, you find the person that actually really works."

Although she had a tough transition after her divorce, Kate says that she’s learned to embrace her life as it is.

"Now I love living alone. But the transition to getting there had its ups and downs like loving it and then not liking it. But once you settle into it, it’s really nice."

Matthew McConaughey’s Mini-Me

July 16th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

Looks like the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

With a buff surfing aficionado for a dad and a Brazilian model as a mom, Levi Alves McConaughey was bound to get his parents Matthew McConaughey’s and Camila Alves‘ good genes, and that in fact he did.

"Levi looks just like Matthew," a friend of the couple tells OK!, adding that the tyke, born July 7 as OK! exclusively reported, has his dad’s curls and his mom’s dark hair.

Another thing Levi got from his parents? Their famous friends! Among the first people to visit little Levi were Matthew’s close buddies, fellow Austinite Lance Armstrong and his gal pal and Matthew’s frequent co-star, Kate Hudson. The two stopped by two days after Levi’s arrival with a gift — somewhat — in hand. The seven-time Tour de France winner offered to teach Levi how to ride a bike, the source adds.

But first things first, Levi will settle down with his parents at home.

"[Matthew] is really getting into being a dad,” the pal says. “He’s enjoying every second of it and is helping Camila out with diapering and bathing so that she has time to rest up and recover from the delivery.”
