Brit’s Manager: Movie Shows She’s a Star

November 21st, 2008

As one of the trusted voices by Britney Spears‘ side as she reemerges into the spotlight, manager Larry Rudolph says the pop star’s new documentary, For the Record is all about telling it like it is.

"We went there with it," he told MTV news last night at preview of the movie in L.A. "You see Britney in a light you’re not used to seeing her in. She’s intelligent, she’s introspective, she’s honest. By the end of the film you really understand who she is in a way that you just never imagined. … It is so not a puff piece."

As for what fans can expect to see in the 90-minute documentary, Larry says they’ll see what they always have about Brit – her star quality.

"She’s got a unique set of talents. She’s got a blend of certain talents," he says. "She’s a great singer. She’s a great dancer. She’s got an amazing image. She’s incredibly likable." In short, he sums up, "She’s got this intangible thing that makes her a star."

The documentary is set to air on MTV on Nov. 30, a few days before Britney’s new album Circus debuts on Dec. 2, her 27th birthday.

Britney Set for Return to VMAs

September 3rd, 2008

One year after nearly killing her career on the MTV Video Music Awards stage, it’s been confirmed that Britney Spears will be returning to the VMAs on Sunday to kick off their 25th anniversary ceremony. Unfortunately, unlike last year where the singer opened up the show with a disastrous, scantily clad performance of  "Gimme More," MTV has announced that Brit will not be singing this time around.

“MTV has long played an important role in my career," the pop superstar said after today’s announcement. "How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMA’s?  I’m excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated.”

Brit is nominated this year for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year for her hit song, “Piece of Me."

Van Toffler, President of MTV Networks had this to say about the decision to have Brit back. “Britney has done everything from perform with a snake, lock lips with Madonna and prove that what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas. I can’t wait to see what she does to kick off this year’s show.”

Check it all out when Britney opens up the 25th annual VMAs, live from L.A. on Sunday, Sept. 7  at 9pm ET.

Manager: Britney Too Busy for VMAs

August 26th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

With her personal and professional lives finally getting back on track, it had appeared likely in recent weeks that Britney Spears would attempt to make a image-reversing performance at September’s MTV Video Music Awards. But alas, says her manager, that doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen.

"Contrary to media reports, Britney was never slated to perform on this year’s VMAs," says Larry Rudolph, Brit’s manager, who was re-hired earlier this year after months of erratic behavior by the pop star. "She’s in the middle of recording her next album, which is going amazingly well, and her focus remains on the studio."

Last September, a disoriented and distracted Brit took the VMA stage in Las Vegas for an embarrassing lip-synched performance of her single, "Gimme More," and drew mostly gasps and giggles from the audience in reply.

One year later, a much-improved 26-year-old appeared to be opening the door to a VMA performance with a pair of recorded promotional pieces for the awards show with this year’s host, British comedian Russell Brand.

However, it should be noted that, while Rudolph says Britney won’t be performing live during the Sept. 7 broadcast from L.A., he said nothing about her being too busy to make a brief appearance either in person at the ceremony or on videotape. The singer’s hit, "Piece of Me" is nominated for Video of the Year.

Britney Rocks the Cradle

May 8th, 2008

There was a surprise guest in the audience for tonight’s finale of the MTV reality competition Rock the CradleBritney Spears!

The singer showed up in the audience of tonight’s show, which aired at 10 PM ET/PT on the cable network.

Brit’s former manager and current friend/advisor, Larry Rudolph, happens to be an executive producer on the show as well as the "Overall Performance Judge" (There are four judges in all). So could this be a sign of an even stronger reconciliation between the two?

Britney was also likely cheering on tonight’s three finalists: Dee Snider’s son, Jess Blaze Snider; Olivia Newton-John’s daughter Chloe Lattanzi, and Kenny Loggin’s son, Crosby Loggins.

***Spoiler Alert!!***

Crosby Loggins won the competition in viewer voting, with Jess Blaze Snider coming in second place. Loggins, who has played the keyboards since he was 7, won $100,000 and a recording contract.

Crosby recently told OK!, "The bands that inspire me and make me want to make music are the ones pushing the envelope. That’s my hope, to travel down that path."

Larry Rudolph Breaks His Silence on Britney

April 2nd, 2008 / Author: cwillett

Larry Rudolph, the one-time manager of Britney Spears who she famously ditched and publically blamed for pushing her into rehab, is speaking out about his newly mended relationship with the singer.

In a new interview with Extra, Rudolph reveals he hadn’t seen Britney in more than a year — until this past week. Larry paid a visit to his former client, who he says appears happier than ever.

"After spending a few days with her this past week, we didn’t talk about anything professional. I just sat and talked with her. I think she’s doing great. Her father is doing a great job with her and she’s in a great place right now."

OK! was first to exclusively report that the two were communicating again. As for a Britney comeback, Rudolph says, "People love her. They really love her. People understand what she’s been through at this point. People want to see her come back. I think she’ll get it together. And I think she’ll have a huge career again. I think she’s going to make the biggest comeback in history."

If loyalty counts for anything in the entertainment business, Rudolph wins the prize. But Britney’s one-time manager has a lot more on his plate these days than the recovering pop star.

Rudolph is set to debut his own reality TV show, Rock the Cradle, which premieres April 3 on MTV. The show is centered around the children of legendary music icons who battle it out on stage.

But Rudolph says don’t expect another American Idol. "Each week is going to be different," he says. "The first week is going to be, they have to sing a song that best represents their relationship with their parents, which is very interesting."

OK! Exclusive: Britney Makes Nice with Former Manager

March 31st, 2008

As Britney Spears continues to strive to get her personal and professional lives back in order, OK! has learned she’s turned to a familiar face for help — former manager Larry Rudolph. Though the pair had parted company a year ago, sources confirm exclusively to OK! that the "Toxic" songstress has once again been taken under Larry’s wing.

Larry and Brit share a long and bumpy history. He was the visionary who discovered the young star Britney and shepherded her career from teen pop tart to international superstar. And when her life began to spiral dangerously out of control in the weeks and months following her Oct. 2006 divorce from Kevin Federline, it was Larry who Britney’s parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears, turned to for help getting her into rehab.

After her brief stint at the Promises clinic in Malibu, Brit went public with her ill-feelings toward Larry, chastising him on camera in a bizarre, disjointed rant, for what she viewed as siding with her folks against her.

However, Brit’s dad has always been open about his positive feelings toward Larry, even publicly thanking Larry for his efforts. And now Jamie, who has continued to think the world of Larry both as a manager and as a friend who has Britney’s best interests at heart, has finally convinced Britney to let him take over the reins of her recently resurgent career.
