LC’s Story Behind the Strands

June 10th, 2009

Lauren Conrad has a look that’s become familiar to fans of The Hills, especially in the most recent seasons: easy, flowy, low-maintenance… and that braid, the ever present hair accessory adorning her head almost wherever she goes.

So if you’ve been wondering what exactly is with that ever-present LC style, she’s explaining the story behind her penchant for the braid.

"I cut my own bangs, so I have to braid it back a lot," she tells BellaSugar. "I have weird Girl, Interrupted bangs going on."

Hey, Angelina Jolie won an Oscar for that movie, so it might be a good movie to cop a style from!

LC Blogs Good-Bye to The Hills

June 2nd, 2009

Well, it’s officially over: after years in front of MTV’s cameras, first on Laguna Beach and then The Hills, resident good girl Lauren Conrad is done putting her life on screen.

The reality TV alum chronicled her feelings about her experiences on the show, writing on her blog after the last episode aired. Kristin Cavallari arrived during the season finale to take over the role of lead blonde.

LC writes:

"Last night was my last episode of ‘The Hills’. It was a bittersweet night for me. A part of me is sad to say goodbye to something that has been such a prominent part of my life, but I know that it was time and I am very happy with my decision. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has watched and supported me over the years. While putting my personal relationships and struggles on television wasn’t always easy, the support I received from people made such a difference. Because of all of you, I was able to accomplish so many aspirations and for that I am very grateful. So, THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!

I have some interesting projects in the works and I will keep you all updated.

From what I’ve heard the next season will not disappoint :-)"

Cover Story: Hills Secrets Revealed

May 20th, 2009

For nearly five years, Lauren “Lo” Bosworth and BFF Lauren Conrad have partied through living rooms across the country on MTV’s Laguna Beach and, most recently, The Hills. But big changes loom: LC is leaving at the end of this season, and Kristin Cavallari, the girls’ former Laguna Beach co-star and LC’s arch-nemesis, is joining the cast — an addition sure to add spice to the already zesty show.

The 22-year-old UCLA grad spills to OK! on how she’ll spend her SoCal summer — Bosworth will kick it off by hosting the MTV Movie Awards preshow with Hills co-star Stephanie Pratt and Frankie Delgado on May 31 — and how she really feels about, well, everything.

OK!: Let’s get right to it. Lauren’s leaving.
It scares me. We really are best friends. We’ve done the show for so long that we know the ins and outs — we know when we’re funny.

OK!: Is the show going to end once she leaves?
I don’t know the answer to that. We’re doing the next few episodes as part of season five, not a new season.

OK!: But your boyfriend Christian is coming on board?
I have a different boyfriend now [laughs]! I keep that separate. My new boyfriend is very happy, but I don’t bring him into this.

OK!’s exclusive summer fashion shoot with Lo:

OK!: What do you think about Kristin joining the cast of The Hills?
I’m excited! I grew up down the street from her and we had a lot of fun together. She knows how to be the center of attention and how to get the party started.

OK!: How do you think she’ll change the chemistry of the cast?
Right now we’re a unit and we all like each other for the first time. We’ve gotten to a point where we know each other well and work together really well. She may stir things up. When anyone new comes into your group, you don’t know exactly what the outcome will be. You never know.

OK!: You and Lauren have been friends since childhood. How has your relationship grown and changed through the years while being on two hit MTV shows?
I feel like we were more wild before. Now I hold myself back and don’t put all my cards on the table. I think that you’d find that we are pretty funny in our everyday life. There’s a lot more to me than meets the eye.

OK!: How have you personally changed since the show began?
I’m more sensitive than I thought I was. We are judged; people say horrible things about you. It really sucks, but you have to look the other way. I’m caring and loving and giving. I don’t think that comes across on the show. It’s more drama and fights.

LC’s First Book Excerpt

May 18th, 2009

Lauren Conrad might be leaving The Hills, but in the meantime she’s all but memorialized it in her new novel, L.A. Candy.

In a new excerpt in Teen Vogue, readers can peek into LC’s head, almost as if they’re right there with her while camera crews set up, lights are set, scenes are filmed and directed and characters are set in motion as she tries to live her real life.

The story follows a young woman named Jane Roberts who moves to L.A. and gets an internship at a popular event planning company. That bright and sometimes bewildered woman appears to be a very thinly veiled version of Lauren herself.

"They had intercepted her in the parking lot, miked her, and filmed her getting out of her car and walking to the lobby of the building. Five times. Now they were setting up in the front waiting area of Fiona Chen Events, filming her ‘arriving for work.’"

And that’s just the beginning! For more of LC’s literary debut, read on at TeenVogue.com.

Confirmed: LC Leaving The Hills

April 28th, 2009

The Hills will still be alive with the sound of familiar voices next season, save that of its starring lady, Lauren Conrad, MTV announced today.

Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Audrina Patridge, Brody Jenner, Lo Bosworth, Justin Bobby and Stephanie Pratt will stay on the reality show.

"Spencer and Heidi will be newlyweds, so the stakes are higher than ever before for the two to make things work," MTV says in the statement. "Viewers will find out life in Los Angeles only gets more complicated as friendships, relationships and loyalties are tested like never before."

Newly married Heidi told MTV earlier that she knew the show could survive without LC.

"I just don’t know if we need her," she said. "I know she hasn’t been wanting to be doing this for a while, and [the life she really leads] is not on camera. So I think it’s a closing chapter for her. I’m sure she’ll have fun and success."
