April 21st, 2009

After a long scuffle between networks, Project Runway is finally ready to debut on its new home channel, Lifetime this summer.

Host Heidi Klum, mentor Tim Gunn and judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia are all set to return to the airwaves on Aug. 20, as the show moves from Bravo to Lifetime.

“I am a huge fan of Project Runway and could not be happier that Season Six will be premiering on Lifetime, the #1 network for women,” says Andrea Wong, President and CEO, Lifetime Networks.  “The talent in this all-new season is nothing short of amazing, and I can’t wait for all of the fans to see the incredible work of these brilliant designers.”

In addition to getting Project Runway back, a new seires, Models of the Runway, will air right afterwards, featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the competition from the models’ perspectives.

Project Runway Secrets Revealed

February 20th, 2009

Although the final designers’ collections from Project Runway were shown this morning during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in NYC, the show still doesn’t have an air date after wrangling between the Bravo and Lifetime Networks.

In the meantime, certain secrets about the show came to light this morning, when a few models who were in the show revealed to OK! that there will be three finalists, all of them women, and two of them blonde.

Doesn’t make for much information until the season starts, but the guy designers apparently have no hope of a win this year.

That magic number of three finalists was a relief to Season 4 winner Christian Siriano, who says Heid Klum told him there would be a whopping 10 collections shown from the contestants!

"I thought it was going to be like ten shows coming down the runway," he says. "[Heidi) told me that too. She lied. She’s got to twist the stories.”

Christian liked the third collection best, adding, "I thought there were pieces I could do without but I thought they were really strong.”

Judge Nina Garcia, however, wouldn’t pick a favorite, but did reveal that the winner would be chosen today.

"We’re judging this afternoon," she tells OK!, adding that they didn’t have any information as to when the show would premiere.

90210’s Noureen DeWulf joins Maneaters

February 18th, 2009

Working on 90210 seems to be a great jumping point into film and mini-series.

Along with the news that series stars Annalynne McCord and Brandon Michael Vayda are up for roles in the Twilight sequel, (read more Twilight secrets in the new issue of OK!, out Thursday), the TV Fanatic has learned that 90210 guest star Noureen DeWulf has been cast in Maneaters, a Lifetime mini-series about to start production in Arizona.

Based on a book by The Starter Wife author Gigi Levangie Grazer, Maneater tells the story of Clarissa (played by Scrubs’ Sarah Chalke) who’s used her beauty and wits to land the hottest producer in Hollywood.

Noureen plays Polo, a stunning young woman who believes she is suffering from a myriad of medical ailments and is always seeking out the hottest new cure.

No doubt, we’ll be taking a bite of out this mini-series!

Project Runway Changes Its Cover

September 26th, 2008

After five seasons, there are plenty of changes in store for the next go-around for reality hit Project Runway. In addition to the previously announced move from NYC to L.A., and from Bravo to Lifetime, OK! has learned that the show will be taking its magazine partnership away from Elle, who has featured all the previous Runway winners’ work in its pages, and moving to Marie Claire.

The change in masthead shouldn’t come as too huge of a shock — Runway judge (and former Elle fashion director) Nina Garcia recently made the same move herself when she was named Fashion Director for Marie Claire.

OK! caught up with Nina at a Marie Claire party on Thursday to celebrate her joining the magazine, and the opinionated fashionista was just gushing with good things to say about her new gig. "I’m very excited about Marie Claire," she told OK!. "It’s a magazine that is deeply passionate about women’s issues. It offers practical, yet beautiful fashion. That ties very much into my philosophy, my books. It’s the perfect match."

The two-part finale for the current season of Project Runway airs Oct. 8 and 15 on Bravo.

“No Injuries” says J Lo’s Trainer

September 12th, 2008

At the opening of the Project Runway finalists’ show in Bryant Park during Fashion Week in NYC Friday morning, Heidi Klum announced that the much buzzed about appearance by Jennifer Lopez as a guest judge on the season finale will not be happening.

"Jennifer Lopez was going to be our guest judge, [but she] cancelled yesterday due to a foot injury," Heidi told the audience.

Despite Heidi’s comments, Gunnar Petersen, Jennifer’s trainer, denies any mishap, telling OK! "No injuries, all good."

The show must go on, however, even as it changes networks and guest judges.

"A great five years at Bravo comes to an end today, thank you so much, you did a beautiful job putting the show on the network," she added, as the show is moving to Lifetime.

So if Jennifer is out, who’s stepping in?

None other than fashion guru Tim Gunn!

"I’m happy to fill in last minute and will be impartial and unbiased to the designers," said Tim.

Make it work!

DVR THIS! A Teacher’s Crime

May 3rd, 2008

There’s nothing like chilling at home on the weekend watching Lifetime’s Saturday night thriller, and this one is no exception! The Bold and the Beautiful’s Ashley Jones stars in A Teacher’s Crime, playing an attractive high school teacher who is unwittingly pulled into a con by one of her students.

“She is a very approachable, good-hearted woman, and she becomes a target to a con man’s twisted game,” Ashley reveals. “It’s a really good, guilty pleasure thriller movie.”

The best part of any Lifetime film is when the woman wronged seeks her vengeance.  “There is a point where she is really hurt and she steps outside of her comfort zone to confront what she’s afraid of,” Ashley says. “It’s all right there on camera when she figures it all out. I definitely had my moment.”

I know you did, girl! Don’t let any man treat you wrong!

A Teacher’s Crime airs Saturday, May 3 at 9 p.m. on Lifetime.

OK! Interview: Ricki Lake

October 22nd, 2007

New body, new look and new movie — things are looking good for Ricki Lake. OK!’s current cover girl opens up about life, work and the world’s hottest Prime Minister.

Describe your Lifetime movie Matters of Life & Dating (premieres Monday, Oct. 22).
It’s an inspirational story about a breast cancer survivor. I play a woman who’s in her 30s and single and trying to deal with her sexuality while going through a mastectomy and I thought it was a really great concept about dating and dealing with the reality of going through cancer treatment.

What could you relate to about the character?
She’s dealing with the scarring and what her breasts would look like. That’s what I could relate to because I was in my early 20s when I had a breast reduction. You do have scars from that. I was definitely self-conscious—are guys going to be attracted to me? I was also extremely overweight. I remember I had the surgery and I lost seven pounds of breast tissue. I wouldn’t have lost weight without doing it because I couldn’t exercise.

I understand your grandmother had breast cancer?
She died when I was nine; when she was 58, which, as you get older, you realize how young that is. Now that I’m nearing 40, that’s really young. I think everybody, that’s the scary thing about that disease; more and more people know people directly really close to them that succumb or are dealing with surviving breast cancer.

You spoke at the UN. What was that all about?
Yeah, I spoke at the UN. It was a new intiative, Deliver Now, looking at the maternal and infant death rates around the world and I led a rally in Bryant Park on this new initiative and then I moderated a panel with the heads of UNICEF, the World Health Organization, the UNFTA, the Prime Minister of Norway announced he was giving a billion dollars to take on this issue because—it’s amazing I’m now this advocate for women and children and midwives, in particular but then they asked me, I feel like I can’t be articulate, I’m so—but I got to kind of do something that takes me further, like dealing with world issues, globally looking at why, in Somalia, one woman in six dies during childbirth and it’s so easily preventable so this guy, this hot Prime Minister, he’s hot! I was like, “I’ll have your baby, I’ll move to Norway and have your baby.” He was amazing so he’s pledged this amount of money until 2015 and hope that other countries come on board as well. It will hopefully change the numbers.

And what else is going on career-wise? You had a pilot for ABC.
Yeah. I don’t know what’s happening with it. We could get a call any day. I don’t know how the other shows on ABC are performing. I think that’s so out of our hands but we did a pilot that was really great. It’s called The Middle. But it’s ironic because I play a woman who’s in her late 30s who’s let herself go, like physically, in every way. And that’s what I play and it’s so funny because I couldn’t feel better about myself. So they had to make me all frumpy but it was a really fun job. I have a movie Park also opening Nov. 2.

What’s that about?
It’s a feature I did actually two years ago with Billy Baldwin about ten people in a park in one day in L.A. It very sort of Robert Altman-esque, like we’re all connected in a weird way. I play Billy Baldwin’s wife and I find him cheating on me and I kind of go to great lengths to make him pay.

Would you do a talk show again?
I’m not planning on it. I’m a guest on The View, but there were all these weird rumors that I was going on The View and that—people were saying, oh, you’re the new host of America’s Funniest Home Videos. I’m like, no, I was never even asked.

You recently celebrated a birthday.
I just turned 39 and I brought six of my best girlfriends to Vegas with me on a private plane. The best part is I hit an $8,000 jackpot on a slot machine. I [never] win like that but on my birthday weekend, with my friends, bells went off and I screamed like it was a million dollars.
