Regis’ Lil’ Kim Dream to Come True

May 6th, 2009

Bestill your beating heart, Reg – your crush, Lil’ Kim is heading your way!

The Dancing With the Stars contestant will meet up with her admirer Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa on Live with Regis and Kelly tomorrow morning at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach.

Lil’ was bounced from DWTS last night in a move that upset her devoted fans, who booed the results and gave her a standing ovation as she left.

Regis’ sidekick Kelly spilled the beans on his crush recently, telling OK!, “If anybody can get Regis to do the samba or the pasa doble, it is Lil’ Kim. He is really in love with her. He’s been in love with her since before Dancing With The Stars."

Lil’ then promised OK! she had a surprise for her devotee, and Kelly made a guess as to what it could be.

“What would make him really happy is if she came on our show and maybe if she dedicated a song to him,” Kelly said. “Maybe if she incorporated his named into a song? Or maybe if she tattooed his face somewhere on her person.”

Guess we’ll find out tomorrow!

Regis Insults Ragu or Horses?

January 21st, 2009

Regis Philbin is known for flubbing names and movie titles on his show Live with Regis and Kelly—it’s part of his schtick. But on Wednesday’s show, the legendary TV host really put his foot in his mouth!

During the opening segment of the show, Kelly Ripa recounted an audition she went on for a Ragu commercial in the early 1990s. Ripa said she was asked if she could ride a horse, which she said made her wonder ‘why would they ask that?’ It’s a spaghetti sauce commerical, what would they use a horse for?’

Regis then cut in and said, "Because the horse probably ends up IN the Ragu!"

Hmm, wonder if the show will be getting any letters from the Ragu people!

Responding to gasps from the audience and a visibly disturbed Kelly Ripa, Regis said, "What? I thought it was funny!"

Yeah, hilarious! And gross!

Regis Draws a Blank On Stage

November 9th, 2008

It sounds like Regis Philbin was up a little past his bedtime on Nov. 5!

Hosting the Stand Up For Heroes benefit in New York, the chat show veteran left a packed house cringing when he tried his very best to call Saturday Night Live’s longest-serving star, Darrell Hammond, to the stage.

The Live With Regis and Kelly host, 77, welcomed him out saying, “He’s America’s best impersonator," before stammering, "…and I don’t know why I can’t remember his name.”

And it was left up to an audience member to bail poor Regis out by yelling Darrell’s name from their seat.

Lucky for Regis, great performances from Whoopi Goldberg, Bruce Springsteen and Ricky Gervais meant his embarrassing gaffe was quickly forgotten.

It’s safe to say it wasn’t the highlight of Darrell’s night though.

The comic, who has done more than a hundred different celebrity impressions on SNL since 1995 — including Regis Philbin! — opened his set with a dejected, "I’m feeling pretty good about myself right now."

The event was held to raise funds for the Bob Woodruff Foundation, and their new campaign, Remind.

Kelly & Mark’s Sizzling Summer Plans!

June 9th, 2008

Kelly Ripa is one of Hollywood’s hardest working moms. With a happy marriage, three kids and a successful co-hosting gig on Live with Regis and Kelly, Ripa has her hands full!

But come this summer, it will be all smooth sailing for this happy homemaker — literally!

The talk show host is spending the fourth of July on the water with hubby Mark Consuelos,38, and their children Michael,11,Lola,7, and Joaquin,5.

"We bought a boat," Kelly,37, told OK! at the opening of luxury boutique Bellhaus in Wainscott, NY. "We take that around the harbor now. We’re learning to drive it." Kelly will also take time to unwind at the family’s home in the Hamptons. "I love the colors of the sunsets more than anything," she says.

Ringo Starr Walks Out on Regis and Kelly

January 22nd, 2008 / Author: cwillett

No one bosses Ringo Starr around — not even Regis Philbin.

The former drumming Beatle gave Live With Regis and Kelly the shaft on Tuesday morning after he was asked by the talk show’s producers to shorten one of his songs.

While it has long been a Regis and Kelly (and Kathie Lee) standard that musical performances clock in at 2 1/2 minutes max, Ringo was unaware of this rule and refused to cut down his 4 minute, 15 second-long song "Liverpool 8" — from his new album of the same name — any shorter than 3 minutes and 30 seconds, his publicist Elizabeth Freund reveals.

”We offered to cut back our chat time and asked them to fade or go to commercial," she says. "They were not willing to do that and Ringo was not willing to cut it further, so without a compromise we were not able to stay."

But don’t think the 67-year-old rocker, who had been booked to appear since November and reportedly informed of the time requirements according to a Live spokesperson, left on bad terms.

"Ringo left saying, ‘God bless and goodbye. We still love Regis,”’ Elizabeth says.

In his absence, interview segments with fashion designer Michael Kors and The Amazing Race winners TK Erwin and Rachel Rosales were extended.

Kelly Ripa Falls Sick on Live!

Was there something in the water?

Live With Regis and Kelly
became Live With Regis and Tim on Tuesday morning
when the petite actress fell ill during the taping of the show at the Atlantis
Resort in the Bahamas and had to be replaced by fashion guru Tim Gunn.

“She had a little stomach flu, I gather,” Regis Philbin tells Extra
afterwards.

Kelly departed the set during a commercial break and was
replaced by Tim, who graciously accepted the last-minute hosting reins. The 37-year-old
bubbly blonde didn’t feel well before the show, but mustered up enough strength
to go to work.

“I thought she was pretty brave to come out and try to
finish the whole show but under the sun and everything,” Regis says. “I guess
she got a little warm but we’re expecting her back.”

For more on Regis and Kelly, tune in to Extra tonight!
