Michael & Dina Battle in Court

June 3rd, 2008

The Lohan family drama isn’t just playing out on-screen.

Battling exes Dina and Michael Lohan have returned to a Long Island court Tuesday afternoon over custody issues.

Michael claims that his ex-wife has violated their visitation agreement with their minor children, Ali, 14, and Dakota, 11. According to Michael’s attorney, John DiMascio Jr., Dina has forbidden his client from visiting the children.

Dina has primary custody and lives in Merrick, Long Island; Michael lives in Southampton.

While Michael has a lot to say in his OK! blog about his ex-wife and her E! reality show, Living Lohan, he was more reticent about the case at hand.

”There won’t be any more comments from Dina and I,” he said outside of the courthouse.

A follow-up court session is scheduled for July 14, but Family Court Judge Stacy Bennett shared she was pleased with what transpired inside the private chambers.

”I am encouraged to hear that the parties and counsel are working at ways to repair the relationship between the children and the father,” she said.

OK! Exclusive: Michael Lohan Blogs about “Living Lohan”

June 2nd, 2008
Michael Lohan, father of controversial actress Lindsay Lohan, and ex-husband of even more controversial reality star Dina Lohan, continues his exclusive blog on OKmagazine.com, where he provides his unique insight on Living Lohan, the new E! reality series featuring his ex-wife and his youngest daughter, Ali Lohan.

Episode 2: "Burning Down the House," June 1, 2008.

Although I continue to have second thoughts about this blog, I am going to keep my word with OK!. And I’ll continue to do so in a respectful way.

To which, I thank, Mr. T, Mr. L, my attorney and friends for their advice.

I will however call it as I see it and speak from my heart, because "the truth", (which in essence is God) is what matters and I don’t see a lot of it in this show.

What continues to frustrate me is the deception and hypocrisy. As a matter of fact, just this past week there were reports that Lindsay went to the hospital. My question is, if Dina is soooo worried about FALSE tabloid reports, why is it that her own camp lied about Lindsay being in the hospital to visit a friend, when truthfully, she had an asthma attack?

Is it so bad to say that Lindsay did have an asthma attack? Why not just be HONEST and not lie?

[Ed. Note: It was Lindsay's rep who initially said that the actress was visiting a friend. When OK! spoke to Dina last Friday night, she admitted that her daughter had suffered an asthma attack]

The frustration continues when I see my children surrounded by such unscrupulous people, who would rather party with Dina at a Boulevard Magazine party for Dina as "supermom" (that took place last year), than advise her to race immediately home.

Does ego fit in here? To make matters worse, her brain surgeon of a wannabe bodyguard asks, "What the hell are they tawkin’ bout?" — Like he can’t make sense that the house was on fire!!!!!

Is this how a "bear protects its cubs?"

Frankly, I would have driven or even flown immediately home, as we did on numerous occasions when the kids needed us!

As a matter of fact, while I was attending a Christening this weekend in Rockville Center, NY, I got a call that a guy who I had just gotten into rehab had left and was on his way to LaGuardia aiport.

Without question, Erin and I went to LaGuardia and stopped him from leaving. We bought him all new clothes, since he’d lost his, and by the grace of God and with the help of Southampton Mayor, Mark Epley — who is also the Director of Seafield Center in Westhampton — we were able to get this guy immediately place at his facility. This was for a stranger, so how much more should we do for our own children?!

On a more positive note, I have to say, the mask scene wasn’t only suiting, but quite amusing, especially since everyone seems to be wearing one in one way or the other. And although Nana "Sullivan" puts one on, I am waiting for the others to take theirs off!

Speaking of masks, maybe next time Matt Sullivan or Paul Sullivan will appear and reveal themselves!

Until then, or next time, I will continue to hold back on the reins with hope of seeing some daylight.

EPISODE 1: "Mommy Will Fix It", MAY 26, 2008

Soooooo, you want a comment on the first episode of Living Lohan?

Well, let’s see… If I were to look at things from a wordly perspective, I would probably have a lot to say about exploitation, hypocrisy and even deception — and maybe at a later date, I might just do so.

For now, let’s just say I’m still trying to figure out if this show is about managing Ali’s career and being a "real" mother, or reading tabloids.

I’ve had a sneak peek at some future episodes and I will say that some of the people Dina surrounds the kids with still concerns me — again, I can address that when they appear on the show. I just hope Dina takes the high road — like a Lohan would — and rights these wrongs.

If this show is about the being a mother and a manager, the most important thing is to set a good example by instilling positive values, and doing what’s right for the kid’s sake. Not for our own!

I wish Ali, Cody and Dina the best on the show and pray that they get what they want out of it.

OK! Exclusive: Dina Lohan Fires Back!

May 30th, 2008

OK! caught up with new reality star Dina Lohan at the Project Cuddle event in Port Washington, N.Y., on Friday, where she was more than happy to set the record straight on several reports, including the rumor that her daughter Lindsay Lohan is planning to wed d.j. pal Samantha Ronson.

"If she’s happy, I’m happy," Dina tells OK! exclusively. "That’s all I’ll say." Dina adds, "Samantha’s great. I’ve known her and her family for ten years."

As for her ex, Michael Lohan’s new weekly blog for OKmagazine.com, Dina was a bit more passionate, telling OK!, "My ex-husband writes a blog for you–not you, OK!– about my show! I know he’s my kids’ dad. They can talk to him whenever they want, I don’t stop them. I just want him to be respectful. It’s all about respect. You give respect, you get respect."

Dina also addressed today’s reports claiming Lindsay spent 2 hours in an L.A. hospital with d.j. pal Samantha. (A rep says the actress was there visiting a friend.)

"She has asthma. She’s been flying around the world for five days. She was in Cannes. The temperature changes affect her breathing."

Dina continues, "I just talked to her. She’s great. She wanted me to fly out but I have four kids. My 11-year old son just made the New York State Soccer Team."

The Living Lohan star tells OK! that she is eager to clear her reputation as the world’s biggest party mom. "I’m just trying to help my kids," she says. "I don’t want to hang out with 21-year old kids. I don’t even want to go out with the PTA moms once a week–even though they do ask me."

Inside Living Lohan

May 19th, 2008

The Lohan family is misunderstood people!
Dina Lohan, Lindsay Lohan’s controversial mom and the matriarch of E!’s new reality show Living Lohan, has been waxing that line for a long time. But now on the eve of the show’s premiere, show producer Gavin Maloof tells OK! he was pleasantly surprised at the closeness that he witnessed between mama Lohan and her brood.

"My biggest surprise with Dina was how close-knit the family was and how supportive she is with her children," Maloof says. "She treats them all equally."

As for the chatter that she is an over-bearing stage-mom, Maloof says, "100 percent not true. Ali wants to pursue a singing career. She’s not too young. If that’s what she wants to do then let her. She’s got a wonderful voice. You are going to be surprised at how much talent she has."

The show’s premise centers around Dina’s effort to help Lindsay’s sister Ali Lohan,14, make it into show business.

When it really comes down to it, we can’t wait to see how all the Lohan family drama translates to TV. Pass the Milkduds!

Ali Lohan Preps for Reality Debut

March 7th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

Ali Lohan is on the fast-track to fame now that her and her mom Dina’s reality show Living Lohan is set to premiere on E! this summer. Along with that fames comes incessant scrutiny, paparazzi run-ins and tabloid rumors — some things older sister Lindsay knows a little about.

So did big sis have some words of wisdom for aspiring singer/actress Ali?

"She just told me to basically stay strong," Ali tells OK! at the High School Confidential premiere. "Don’t let the [people] tear you apart over what’s said and be sure to keep your head up high and everything, and do what you’re there to do, do what you want to do. Do your singing and everything — don’t let anyone bring you down."

The series will chronicle mom-ager Dina as she makes strides to rear another child superstar in Ali. And though they’ve had their differences in the past, estranged hubby Michael gives the seal of approval to the mom and daughter duo’s new venture.

"I support everything that they do that has good intent and sends a good message, and if that what it does, then great, good for them," he says. "If this is what Dina and Ali want, thumbs up, what can I say."

Fourteen-year-old Ali has a true talent, he believes, and a reality show may be the good platform for her to show it.

"She’s a very gifted child, and I think that she can use it, and she can use it in the right way. If this is the springboard she wants to use to get to where she wants to go, so be it."
