Charlie Sheen Says Twins Are “Amazing”

March 20th, 2009

Charlie Sheen is speaking out for the first time about the birth of his twin sons, Bob and Max.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Two and a Half Men star calls his newborn fraternal twin sons, who were were born last weekend, "pretty amazing. Not a whole lot of sleep, but what parent does at this stage? There’s adrenaline, excitement, fear," he says. And even though they’re not identical, Charlie says he still struggles to tell them apart.

"I can’t tell! They’re not identical, but at this stage they’re similar enough," he admits.

Bob and Max Sheen—not exactly names you’d associate with Hollywood these days merely because they’re so….well, normal! But that’s what Charlie says he and wife Brooke Mueller specifically wanted.

"They’re very short and simple, easy to spell and remember," he says. "Bob is the same frontward and backward. I’m a fan of a short and simple name. Max was literally Nick until about a minute before he came out."

Charlie’s two daughters with ex-wife Denise Richards also have short, sweet names: Sam and Lola. The actor says the girls are thrilled to be big sisters, but that they have their own ideas about the boys’ names. "They’re insisting that they call them Bob and Duke," Sheen says.

"I’m truly blessed," Charlie told OK! at the time. "I’m already the proud father of three beautiful daughters, and I’m delighted that they’ll now have two little brothers… Life doesn’t get any better than this."

Video: Kelly Ripa’s Dirty Secret

February 11th, 2009

Kelly Ripa is serving up cupcakes when she unveils colorful Electrolux appliances during an event to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund held at NYC’s Splashlight Studios on Tuesday.

Moments later, she parades from the red-hot-red kitchen appliances to the washer-dryer set. “I’m taking it all off!” she jokes. “It’s all coming off right now.”

She adds, “With three kids, I do copious amounts of laundry, and it’s the best washer and drier on the market,” she says. “Really, you can wash and dry your clothes in 36 minutes.”

Watch OK!’s exclusive video.* (It feels like you’re at the event!)

Time is of the essence for Kelly, 38, who is mom to Michael, 11, Lola, 7, and Joaquin, 5, with hubby Mark Consuelos, 37. Along with her busy Live schedule and family life, she finds time for working out.

“I feel like if you want anything bad enough, you can make it happen for yourself,” she tells me. “You either have to get up early and do it or wait until the kids go to bed and do it. Or wait until they’re in school and you have time during lunch breaks to do it. That’s what I do. I go during lunch break and I do it.”

Every day, Kelly runs or participates in Physique 57, which is a combination of Pilates, yoga, aerobics and weights set to music.

“You work your front, and it’s using your own body weight to build muscle,” she tells me.

Time for exercise is made possible by the Electrolux washer-dryer combination, which is up for grabs when readers register to send virtual cupcakes here during the Valentine’s Day virtual bake sale to benefit OCRF.

“You send it to a person of your choice, and Electrolux donates $1 to OCRF towards the goal of $500,000,” Kelly says. “It’s fat-free, it’s sugar-free, it won’t cause cavities, and every time you register online, it sends a virtual cupcake – you are automatically entered to win that gorgeous front-loader washer and dryer.”

Visit the virtual bake sale going on through February 28, and enter for a chance to win while helping fight Ovarian cancer.

Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos Enjoy Winter Wonderland

December 26th, 2008

Kelly Ripa defines the word beautiful with “our kids, calmness and honor” while hubby of twelve years Mark Consuelos finds “peace” to be his ideal explanation.

This year the family is starting a new tradition.

“Winter in winter,” Kelly, 38, says. “We’re going to try it. Usually we do summer in winter – a bikini bathing suit destination – and now this year, I’m actually buying a coat. [laughs] It’s never been done before.”

Kids Michael, 11, Lola, 7, and Joaquin, 5, are  enjoying having their mom and dad around more during this time of year.

“I like to take my daughter to the ballet,” Kelly says. “We go to the Nutcracker every year, but I vow every year to do it more. That’s my contribution to cultural society.”

With Christmas and Thanksgiving done and dusted, Kelly offers fitness tips for those looking to drop a few pounds.

“I go to Physique 57, right on 57th street in Manhattan. It’s the love of my life – besides my husband. That exercise program is simple, easy.”

Mark, 37, chimes in. “And it really works.”

With all that exercise, Kelly can even include her favorite junk food – pizza – in the mix.

“I find that as long as you’re keeping your body in motion, you can pretty much eat anything in moderation,” she says. “It works out.”

Kelly Ripa is All Ryka

May 29th, 2008

Kelly Ripa is the draw at an event to celebrate her partnership with Ryka fitness wear held inside the American Museum of Natural History in NYC.

I’m told the publicist is wearing a red dress, so I scan the room in search of a person in a red dress. I bide my time waiting for the only person wearing what could be considered a red dress when voila! I realize it’s Kelly herself. (Whew, saved – that would’ve been awkward.)

Moments later, I join Ms. Ripa herself on the white leather chairs. She’s a rebel — she has a tattoo on her right ankle. The mother of three tells me she can’t get enough of soy cakes as a healthy snack but she loves her pizza, and invites me to her Physique 57 exercise class.

“It’s a great core-fusion sort of exercise class,” she tells me. “You should try it. You would love it. It’s a combination of Pilates, yoga, aerobics, weights set to really high-intense music. You work your front, and it’s using your own body weight to build muscle.”

How does she balance work and family? The Live cohost, 37, is mom to Michael, 10, Lola, 6, and Joaquin, 5.

“My job is not very time consuming – at all. I really am scheduled to pick up the kids from school every day. It used to be very difficult because I had the sitcom and the talk show. It required a lot of patience from my children; it required them to come to me a lot. I like it much better now because I don’t think my kids should be on my schedule. I feel like I should be more on their schedule.”

With which celebrity couple would she and hubby Mark most like to play tennis doubles?

“Probably Regis and Joy Philbin,” she laughs. “They’re very good, and they’re very competitive. I feel like Mark and I are equally competitive, although we’re not very good at tennis. I feel like they would also have the patience to teach us as well as compete with us.”

Ahi tuna sandwiches, Mediterranean eggplant, cherry tomatoes stuffed with hummus and fettuccine flatbread go by.

Time to get serious. Kelly kisses Mark as soon as she’s called to speak. “I’m going to put my wine down so I don’t look like a lush,” she says. Get this — her workout buddy Pam Wakoff appears in the ads with Kelly!

“They said, bring her along … and so she got hair and makeup done. She said ‘this is stupid, I don’t know why they’re making me get hair and makeup when they’re only going to shoot the back of my head.’ I said ‘don’t be ridiculous!’ The back of her head looks good though, right? The back of her head is a phenomenal back of the head.”

Afterwards, I’m invited to try on and choose a pair of running shoes. Nice!

The Kelly Ripa Collection will be in stores this October.

The Real Life of the Ritchies

April 10th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

Despite just being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and her gazillionth new album, Hard Candy about to drop, Madonna insists that life inside her sprawling English manor is really a very quiet one.

"We have chickens and build tree forts there," the Michigan native, 49, says of Ashcombe House, the English countryside estate she shares with her hubby of eight years, Guy Ritchie, 39, and their three children, Lourdes,11, Rocco, 7, and David,2.

The Material Girl tells OK! that she drags herself out of bed every morning at 7:15 a.m. and has breakfast with her kids before sending them off to school. A strict disciplinarian, Madonna says it’s strong-willed Lola who most reminds the singer of herself.

"Lola rules the roost," the singer says. "She is extremely maternal toward David but is in major competition with Rocco. But he’s starting to fight back."

Of not allowing her kids to watch TV or read magazines, Madonna says, "You have to show them who’s in charge. If you give in to them, they’re going to run your life."

The singer tells OK! a typical day for her includes regular Pilates and dance aerobics, shooting, fishing and riding horses. "I love horses," she says. "I think I may have been one of Henry VIII’s knights in another life, riding through a great forest."

At the end of the day, Madge sits down to a dinner of "fish, some kind of grains, some kind of cooked vegetable and salad." An admitted control freak, the singer reveals she and Guy are addicted to their blackberries, even sleeping with them under their pillows!

"We lie right next to each other with our blackberries under our pillows," she laughs. "I often wake up in the middle of the night and remember that I’ve forgotten something so I jump up and make notes. Guy’s always waiting for me to come to bed, so he plays Brick Breaker on his blackberry until I’m ready!"

When asked if she has any advice for people wishing to know her secrets, Madonna tells OK!, "If you want to know how I look like I do, it’s diet and exercise and constantly being careful," she says. "There is no shortcut to being Madonna!"

Denise Richards Wants Her Name Back

March 24th, 2008

Denise Richards is cutting the final ties to her ex hubby, Charlie Sheen.

On Friday, Richards filed papers in an L.A. court requesting that her legal name be changed from Sheen back to Richards. The actress took her married name when she wed Sheen in 2002.

In 2005, Denise filed for divorce but the two later reconciled. They finally parted ways a year later only to then engage in a bitter and often public custody battle over their two daughters, Sam, 4, and Lola, 2 1/2.

The fighting continued this year when Denise announced plans to include their children in a reality TV show featuring her life as a single mom. The one time Bond girl won her court case against Sheen, who filed a claim to keep the girls off of the show.

Denise Richards’ Mother Passes Away

November 30th, 2007 / Author: cwillett

Reps for actress Denise Richards confirm to OK! that the actress lost her mother, Joni, this week to cancer. The 36-year-old star and her two daughters with ex-husband Charlie Sheen, 3-year-old Sam and Lola, 2, was joined by her father, Irv, and other family members during their two-week bedside vigil at the Long Beach, Calif., hospital where Joni lived out her final days.

Her mother’s illness has given Denise reason to think about her own life in recent months. "I was always a people pleaser," she explained. "And I just finally got to the point in my life after having my daughters and going through a really ugly divorce, and… my mother [being] sick with cancer, that I’ve just gotten to the point where life is so short and I just want to be happy."

In this time of grief, one might expect Denise to shelter her daughters from the tragedy of Joni’s death, but as the actress recently told OK!, it’s important for Sam and Lola to see her sad. "Sam walked in and saw me crying about my mom," the actress explained to OK! at the time. "She wiped my tear and gave me a kiss. Then I thought, ‘You know what? This is life. Mommy sometimes gets sad.’ "

OK! extends their sincerest condolences to the Richards family for their loss.
