Jess Sees the Funny Side of Weight Gain

It seems that Jessica Simpson’s reported weight "scandal" is weighing heavily on her mind - even influencing her wardrobe decisions.

When she took the stage tonight at NYC’s Madison Square Garden, there were no more tight jeans and tops like the ones in those now infamous snaps from a Jan. 25 chili cookoff in Pembroke Pines, Florida.

Instead she wore shorts covered by a long, loose top in slimming black. Jess even joked with the audience that she had decided not to wear pants because she was worried they would tear!

"I was worried my pants would rip tonight!" she joked with the crowd.

Supporting country hitmakers Rascal Flatts, Jessica seemed back on her game after a shaky performance last week in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

There were no more of the fumbled lines or do-overs that her rep had explained away as Jess being a "perfectionist." But she did seem at pains to silence the rumors that she and boyfriend Tony Romo had split. Jess peppered her nine song set with lovey-dovey references to her Dallas Cowboys quarterback beau, who didn’t seem to have made the trip to the Big Apple.

Introducing "You Are My Sunday," she said, "You know there’s something about being in love that makes you happy to be alive every day. It’s OK if it’s Groundhog Day if you’re in love. Well, that’s kind of how I feel right now."

And in what seemed to be nod to the recent gossip about her weight, Jess told the audience that when she’d played Madison Square Garden in the past, her pants had ripped.

"So I wanted to wear something tonight that I knew wouldn’t split!," she laughed.

That’s it Jess - don’t let the haters get you down!

Madonna Takes Over NYC

Singing at Madison Square Garden in New York City is nothing new for Madonna, but for Kelly Ripa, it was certainly a first!

 

Kelly gushed ahead of her shows, "I’m going to three nights. She gets better with age — she’s perfect!”

 

And the mom-of-three’s loyalty was rewarded at the Oct. 11 and Oct. 12 performances, when the Material Girl, 50, gave her the microphone to sing along to "Give It 2 Me.”

 

Kelly was front row, center when Madonna handed her the mic,” a fellow concertgoer tells OK!, adding, "She sounded good!”

Meanwhile, two men linked to Madonna, Alex Rodriguez and Dennis Rodman, lunched at NYC’s MARKT on Oct. 10, while Dennis films Celebrity Apprentice. A source tells OK!, “They talked about how much they respect Madonna.”

For Alicia Keys, something actually is in the water. The music superstar is the latest to join the growing list of celebs – including 50 Cent and Jennifer Aniston – endorsing Vitamin Water.

"I don’t partner with anybody, but this really was natural for me because I’ve been a fan from the beginning," she told OK! at Madison Square Garden before departing on her European tour with Jordin Sparks. Her signature flavor is the lemonade-like Multi-V, which touts vitamins from A-Z. But Alicia has a deeper reason for signing with the beverage company.

"I love their personality," she said. "Have you ever read the bottles? Don’t you just feel naturally smarter when you read it?"

To stay fit, the singer sticks to a diet of egg-white omelets, oatmeal, fish, veggies and brown rice, but she has to be careful about when she eats.

"One time I ate right before going on stage and I had to hide my belches from the microphone - that was funny!"

Alicia took a more serious approach when OK! asked her about her trip to Africa and her involvement with AIDS prevention organization Keep a Child Alive.

"There are so many stories to tell and so many things going on in the world, and when you’re able to see it first-hand, I think it gives you a more empathetic feeling about it. I felt like I want to dell everybody I could about what I’d seen and the way we could erase it and prevent it."

OK! Exclusive: J.Lo Having Twins — Confirmed!

After months of the "is she? or isn’t she?" controversy, Jennifer Lopez, 38, is set to announce her impending motherhood during one of her upcoming concerts — perhaps as early as her Madison Square Garden concert in NYC on Oct. 7. More importantly — La Lopez has a bigger surprise up her sleeve — she’s having twins!

"Jennifer is having twins, and she’s over the moon about it," a source close to the singer reveals exclusively to OK!. "She is absolutely glowing with happiness. She’s spending time relaxing with Marc and enjoying being pregnant, which is something she has always wanted."

The babies will be Jennifer’s first (and second) children, and numbers four and five for the fertile Marc Anthony. And although the babies’ genders are not yet confirmed, one can only hope for two little lady Lopez’s in training.
