Sarah Jessica Parker Wanted Girls

May 8th, 2009

Sarah Jessica Parker’s friends are all excited about her baby news, and that includes her hilarious Sex and the City co-star, Mario Cantone, who says he first found out the fashion savvy mama and Mattthew Broderick were having twins by a surrogate after reading about it. And make no mistake about it, the effusive actor is a huge fan of SJP’s mothering skills.

"That kid James Wilkie is so cute and so brilliant and so smart and he’s got such a wit about him," he gushed to OK! at DKMS 3rd Annual Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street on Thursday night in NYC. "I only spent a little time with him but I fell in love with the kid. I just think he’s something else. He’s like a smart, witty, appropriate child and that’s rare.”

Of course, everyone is buzzing over the fact that the fashionista of all fashionistas is expecting girls, who will grow up having a style icon for a mama, a fact that hasn’t escaped Mario’s eagle eye.

"She wanted girls I’m sure and I think it’s good," he told OK!. "And I also think if you’re going to have one child, you should have another. The only child thing is a tough thing.”

Lucky for James, he’s about to become a big brother times two!

SATC Showdown?

November 12th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

She caused tension among her costars by holding out on the Sex and the City movie, and now Kim Cattrall is causing trouble again — by confirming the sequel without
producer Sarah Jessica Parker’s say-so.

On Nov. 4, Kim announced to Spice Girl Mel B on British television, “Yes, there will be a sequel,” prompting Sarah Jessica to retaliate with a statement of her own two days later.

“I’m thrilled to know Kim is excited, but all the deals are not yet done,” the star, aka Carrie Bradshaw, told Access Hollywood.

But Kim’s announcement came as no surprise to her friends: “Kim told me this summer that she was doing another movie,” on-set photographer Steve Sands tells OK!. “They all know they’re stronger together than by themselves. How could they not do a sequel?”

As for the rumors that Sarah Jessica resented Kim’s popularity as the sex-obsessed Samantha Jones? “Things aren’t as bad as people think,” says Steve.

And co-star Mario Cantone scoffs at the notion that the divas were at war: “That stuff is crap. They get along great.”

Sarah Jessica, Kim, Cynthia Reunite For ‘SATC’ Party

September 22nd, 2008

A hot pink light overtakes the New York Public Library setting the stage for the Sex And The City Extended DVD release party. As tunes such as Michael Jackson’s Off The Wall and Sade’s Sweetest Taboo blare, a woman on stilts wearing Carrie’s wedding dress greets partygoers. Talk about a feat!

Indeed, Sex And The City is having its night – again.

“It’s exciting,” Sarah Jessica Parker says. “I’m thrilled anybody showed up.”

What was her favorite part of playing Carrie?

“I loved her,” she says. “She was smart and stupid, funny and a wreck, viable and playful. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I’m happy it ended up in my lap.”

Ironically, SJP lives on the Sex And The City bus tour route.

“It’s pretty funny. I can’t believe I live right there. Everyone is very nice. A few days before the movie opened, I happened to run into a large group. They were very enthusiastic, and I was literally running to an appointment, so I didn’t get to spend as much time with them as I had hoped, but everyone’s always very sweet.”

Here is the lovely Kim Cattrall, who is always super-friendly. How did she pack on the pounds for the scene where she sports a paunch? “I wore jeans that were two sizes too small, and kept sticking my stomach out as far as it would go.”

Does she miss having Patricia Field tell her what to wear?

“Every time I see her, I go, ‘what do you think? Do you like it? Do you like it?’” Kim says. “She’s like [gravelly voice] ‘I like it, but I like the purse better than the last purse.’ She’s always checking in and chiming in. ‘That’s fierce girl, fierce.’”

Cynthia Nixon says she’d like to see the girls “go off on a madcap adventure somewhere” for the sequel.

Meanwhile, Mario Cantone is praying the part of Carrie in The Carrie Diaries doesn’t go to Miley Cyrus. “I just don’t get it. That’s just me, and I’m 90. I’m not a little girl.”

What memento did he keep from the set?

“I kept my tuxedo jacket from the wedding, which I love,” Mario says. “It was a vintage 60s After Six jacket. It was stunning. And the purple tie. I got it. Shellacked!”

Candace Bushnell
says it’s “too soon” to talk about The Carrie  Diaries, opting to dish on her new book One Fifth Avenue, which hit shelves this week. “There’s so many scandals. There’s art theft, there’s real estate, sex. It’s New York, baby!”

Willie Garson has some ideas about Carrie as a 14-year-old, though. “I think she’ll be a smart girl. Maybe more of a studious girl than a big party girl. To get to the point where Carrie is when we knew her, a lot of reading had to have gone on. She’s plugged in, she has a good sense of people. It’ll be interesting to see if Candace does that.”

Sex And The City’s Extended DVD Cut is out Tuesday.

Stars Primp For ‘Sex And The City’ Premiere

May 30th, 2008

Sarah Jessica Parker sparkles at the Sex and the City: The Movie premiere held at Radio City Music Hall in NYC.

“The best part of doing this movie is being back with my best friends again,” she tells reporters. “The sexiest part about tonight is being with you — and all those people.”

The massive crowd gathered across the street certainly deserves the love. Umbrellas perched, the devotees wait through a fierce downpour – and every single woman is dressed up just like Carrie Bradshaw herself. Talk about an ego boost!

While Kim Cattrall strikes a cute pose alone, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon dash into the theater together.

The girls’ significant others fly solo. After posing for photos, Sarah Jessica’s super-sweet hubby Matthew Broderick climbs over the velvet rope and slinks off the pink carpet. After all, this is her night to shine. On the other hand, Kim’s chef boyfriend, Alan Wyse, chats it up. Cynthia’s girlfriend, Christine Marioni, enters an hour earlier. She’s wearing a beige men’s suit!

Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, who plays Carrie’s assistant, makes a pit stop. She has really slimmed down. Impressive! What did she love about the show? “They talk about real things that we all go through.” And, what does she think about the new American Idol David Cook? “I love David Cook but I felt Archuleta should’ve won,” she says. “At this point, they’re both the bomb.”

Fergie, whose tune Labels And Love is the theme of the movie, shows off her engagement bling. How many carats? “I’m not telling,” she jokes. “Guess.” What’s the story behind the song? “It’s a love triangle between fashion, friends, plus love.” Wait, where’s fiancé Josh Duhamel? Home sick! : (

Here come the guys.

What was the sexiest part of making the film? “We got to do it so many times,” Chris “Mr. Big” Noth says.

David Eigenberg can’t believe this movie was made. “I’ve been on the record saying this day would never, ever happen, and it has. I was wrong! Happily I can admit I was wrong.”

Jason Lewis is thrilled to be back with the cast. “It was fun,” he says. “I actually had everyone out for a barbeque. It’s always family.”

Willie Garson, who plays SJP’s gay best friend, slides through. “I love cosmos,” he says.

Donald and Melania Trump make their entrance. Ivanka’s stepmom confesses she loves the SATC style, and Donald says the flick is “great for New York.” … Oh, there’s Jerry Seinfeld and wife Jessica waving. Hi guys! … Idina Menzel is thrilled to be here tonight. … Get this: Destiny’s Child’s Michelle Williams says she’s holding a Sex and the City viewing party, like millions of women around the world. … Donna Karan gives a thumbs up when asked if the SATC women inspire her fashion. …

Lauren Bush, with much older boyfriend David Lauren, won’t talk about cousin Jenna’s wedding, but says she’s well-rounded like Carrie. Emmy Rossum also gives a shoutout to Carrie. “She’s effortlessly cool,” she says. Whoa. Dean Winters loves Carrie, too. “I was Carrie’s **** buddy, so I’m biased. She’s my favorite.” … Surprise, surprise. Lydia Hearst is a Carrie girl. “Every girl in her life goes through heartbreak and hard work and has to overcome obstacles,” she says. “She is definitely the strongest of the characters.” Meanwhile, Lil’ Kim says Samantha is her type. Yep!

It’s showtime. My friend Doree and I are in row Q, a few rows behind Sarah Jessica, Kim, Kristin and Cynthia. Oh, look, there’s Mario Cantone! The movie is great. Get this: On the way out, we bump into Gilles Marini, who is taking photos for revelers. (Spoiler alert: He’s Dante, the guy with the hot shower scene.) How funny. The swoon-worthy actor dropped by the OK! office last week. Jason Lewis Charms at the ‘Sex and the City’ Afterparty.

Sex and the City: The Movie is in theaters now.

Cindy, Eva Are Linked Against Leukemia

May 20th, 2008

Eva Mendes amps up the attitude during the DKMS Links Against Leukemia Gala held at Capitale in NYC. We’re told she’s not talking to print, so it’s time for a shout-out.

As caviar, smoked salmon and champagne go around, my well-connected reporter friend takes the fall. “Scarlett got engaged, are congratulations in order from you?” she says. (They both star in the forthcoming flick The Spirit.)

Eva shoots back, “I call and tell my friends. I don’t need to tell a reporter.”

Luckily, honoree Cindy Crawford is willing to open up because the cause is close to her heart. She tells me she was 10 when her brother Jack died of leukemia at age 4. What a heartbreaker.

“The technology that could’ve saved his life wasn’t available,” the Cavalli-clad supermodel says. (In person, her voice is small, her mole is prominent and her heart is huge.)

Sex and the City’s Mario Cantone urges everyone to “get swabbed in the mouth.”

“I was unaware of the small percentage available to find a match for a bone marrow transplant for leukemia,” he says. “It’s not just about matching a blood donor, it’s about matching the DNA. It’s impossible. And the bone marrow transplant is just a blood thing. The blood comes out, goes back in, they take the nutrients they need and it goes back in. It’s an outpatient process.”

Natasha Bedingfield lights up when she sees my P.A. pal, who also hails from England. “I miss the accents,” she pines. When asked for her first crush, she busts out. “There’s my first crush, right here,” she says to a male reporter. Hahaha!

Outgoing Carol Alt is thrilled to chat about everything under the sun. She’s the best! She says she’s skinnier than ever thanks to a raw food diet. “I have to eat to keep my weight on, and that’s a blessing. I starved as a model. Starved!”

Morgan Fairchild says “hi.” Wait! I have a question for her! The publicist tries to chase her down, but alas, no luck.

Get this – DKMS raises more than $1 million during this event. Woo-hoo!
