The cast of Dancing with the Stars‘ ninth season kicked things off with a party (and in the case of partners Louie Vito and Chelsie Hightower, a kiss) at Coco de Ville on Tuesday in West Hollywood. “Everyone got along great!” an onlooker tells OK!.

June 2nd, 2009
Shawn Johnson’s Dancing With the Stars victory has fallen to pieces… really. While she’s still the champ, her mirrored disco ball trophy is currently being repaired.
"It’s actually in pieces right now," her pro partner, Mark Ballas, said at the MTV Movie Awards. "We had to take them to New York and they shipped them back and when they opened the box, they were in pieces," he continued. "They’re fixing them."
Shawn called her partner up right away with the news. "I was like, ‘My trophy’s broke!’"
Since Shawn nabbed her (now broken) award, she’s been looking into getting some acting done.
"I’ve been offered some opportunities to do movies or TV shows," she said. "I’m not sure what I’m going to do yet."
Ballas, meanwhile, said he will be back on DWTS next season if producers ask him to return. His best buddy and fellow dancer Derek Hough told me early last month that the two weren’t sure they would return.
"If they get a cast full of six-foot women," Ballas said, "then I can’t do it."

Shawn Johnson: I Don’t Know If I Can Win DWTS
May 7th, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff
Even though we’re down to the last four pairs on Dancing With The Stars, contestant and Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson tells OK! she still has no idea if she and partner Mark Ballas can win.
But — speaking right before she launched InterContinental Hotel Group’s "Biggest Free Nights" offer — she told OK! that she’s sure about one thing: she’ll miss ice cream when the show ends and she has to start her gymastics training again!
Is there anything that you always travel with?
My journal. I write, like, once a week. I did it for the Olympics, I do it for big events and for Dancing With the Stars.
Do you still get really competitive even though it’s only a TV show?
I’m very competitive, but DWTS is just for fun. We’re all like family and supporters of each other and we’re just there to have a good time.
What do you think your chances are?
I have no idea. I hope I can make it to the final but I don’t know.
Is it harder or easier than you thought it would be?
It’s extremely hard. It’s physically demanding and exhausting but it’s the time of my life. I love it.
Do you have to do something alongside that to keep in shape for your gymnastics?
I’m just kind of taking the time off completely — enjoying every opportunity I get. This is my first break ever.

What is that like?
It’s definitely different! It was hard to get used to at first, but it’s great. I’ve been in the sport so long I really needed a break to step away and take a breather and get things in check to see what I want to do and then I’ll go back afterwards.
Is there something particularly you’ve taken up doing?
Dancing With The Stars has pretty much taken up 24/7 of my time.
Have you changed your diet at all?
Now that I’m not doing elite training I can splurge and have ice cream if I want. But I still eat healthy just like always.

DWTS Stars Defend Rivals After Fight
December 2nd, 2008
It was a ballroom blitz during the Dancing With the Stars finale on Nov. 25!
After TMZ.com alleged the runner-up, football star Warren Sapp threw first-place dancer Derek Hough — who took the trophy with Brooke Burke — against a wall, their co-stars have come forward to defend them.
The video site claimed that Warren got mad at Derek for showing up late to rehearse the group dance, then complaining that he was having trouble following the routine, although Derek later said that it was more of a war of words than a real fight.
Comedian Jeffrey Ross told OK!, “I happened to be at that rehearsal. They got into a little thing, but it’s about the intensity of the moment.”
Another DWTS dancer, Mark Ballas, agreed. “When you’re working together, sometimes people get heated.
"Sometimes you just talk to each other out of frustration. But both of them are cool now.”
