The Hills may no longer be alive if producers don’t find a replacement for Lauren Conrad, 23!
“They wanted Audrina [Patridge] but that fell through,” a show insider tells OK!, adding that they met with Laguna Beach alums, including Kristin Cavallari, 22, but “she asked for a dream salary twice as large as LC’s.”
“Better to have one successful show than two sinking ships!” says the insider. But MTV reps counter, “The City will return this summer with a dynamic new season.”

It seems like there’s some serious Audrina envy over at MTV.
Last week a The Hills insider told OK! that Audrina Patridge had kept the negotiations about her new show a secret from her MTV bosses.
And it sounds like the sudden revelation has ignited some fireworks!
Today the New York Post’s Page Six said that the show’s exec producer acted like a real "sore loser" when he ran into his star the day after she announced she was working with Survivor producer Mark Burnett.
When Adam DiVello saw her at a recent cast photo shoot for the MTV reality show he, "completely lost his cool and was anything but professional" with Audrina, a source told the paper.
And apparently, as soon as Patridge left the shoot, "DiVello went on a tirade, cursing her in front of other cast and crew."
It sounds like there’s as much drama behind there scenes as there is on the show!

We called it!
Nearly five months ago, OK! asked, ‘Is Audrina Patridge ready to quit The Hills.’
And it turns out the answer was a big fat ‘yes!’.
Back in November — days after she signed on for the sixth season — the ditzy, darling reality star told us that she wanted to make her own show — but this time it would be about her with her "real friends". (And that makes co-stars Lauren Conrad and company… what exactly?)
Today it was announced that she’s inked a deal to appear in a show produced by Survivor creator Mark Burnett.
According to The Live Feed, Burnett’s new series will follow Patridge’s personal and professional life (her acting career? her life as music video…helper?) and is going to be pitched to networks starting next week.
"We are truly pleased to have the chance to work with Audrina," Burnett said. "She has already proved her star quality, and we can’t wait to show her fans worldwide the next stage of her life and career."
There are no details yet about what exactly it will be about — but this is what Audrina told us she’d like to do last year: "It’ll show me in a different light with my real, true friends who I grew up with. It would be so much fun!"
Fun for Audrina, maybe — but with Whitney Port in New York, and Lauren leaving as well, could this be the last nail in the coffin for The Hills?
