Jen to Brad: Who’s laughing now?

January 5th, 2009

Say what you want about Brad and Angelina, it looks like Jennifer Aniston is having the last laugh!

Aniston’s film Marley & Me scored top dog at the box office for a second weekend on Sunday, becoming the first Christmas holiday film to hit $100 million.

The heartwrenching movie about a lovable but unruly labrador retriever earned $24 million during the three days beginning Friday, taking its 11-day haul to $106.5 million. It marks Aniston’s second consecutive $100 million-plus film, following 2006’s The Break-Up, which finished with $118.7 million.

The rankings of the top seven movies were unchanged from last weekend.

Jen Beats Brad at the Box Office

December 26th, 2008

Score one for Jennifer Aniston! The actress’s latest film Marley & Me has soared to number one at the box office forcing ex-hubby Brad Pitt’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button into number 2.

Not that it’s a competition.

Both movies opened on Christmas day, pitting Aniston and her infamous ex against each other at the box office. Marley & Me raked in $14.6 million across 3,480 theaters, the highest one-day total ever for a film opening on Christmas.  Button came in second with $11.8 million, opening in 2,988 venues. Interestingly, audiences still chose to see Aniston’s movie, despite critics’ favoring Pitt’s Button.

In the end, both films exceeded box office expectations by 40-50 percent, according to Variety.

Rounding out the top five was Bedtime Stories with $10.5 million,Valkyrie with $8.3 million and Yes Man coming in at #5 with $5.8 million.

Video: Jen Aniston’s “Danny Devito Moment”

December 26th, 2008

Jennifer Aniston is doing a whirlwind of promotion for her new film Marley & Me. The actress, who is rarely seen in the spotlight, was in NYC where she stopped by for a little chat with the ladies of The View where, among other things, she talked about turning the big 4-0 in Feb.

"I’m proud of being almost 40," Aniston joked, adding, "They say it’s just a number and it’s just not how I feel. I feel better than I did in my twenties and my thirties."

Aniston, who said she plans to spend the holidays at home with friends and family, said she feels like she’s in a good place in her life, telling the ladies, "I don’t know how, I don’t know when, but there’s just something that clicks."

Maybe that "click" has something to do with Jen’s rocker boyfriend, John Mayer! The ladies stayed away from questions about Jen’s man but did want to know how she stays so fit.

"I work out like every other day, I run, do yoga, eat well, you know, all the basic [things]" she said.

Whatever she does, it seems to be working. Jen played down her nude photoshoot with GQ Magazine, saying she wasn’t trying to project a new image by doing the cover.

"There were supposed to be different stages of undress," she explained. There were supposed to be men in a tuxedo, and then me in a gown, then all of a sudden I would be wearing the man’s shirt. They were supposed to get naked and somehow I don’t know what happened!"

Ever the jokester, Jen quipped, "They got me bombed! I had a Danny Devito moment!"

Clyde’s in the Dog House!

December 16th, 2008

Hyper, rambunctious and rather lovable are just a few ways to describe Clyde, the
canine who co-stars alongside Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson in the holiday
movie Marley & Me. The 4-year-old American yellow Labrador retriever lives in Venice, Calif., with Birds & Animals Unlimited trainer Mathilde De Cagny, who welcomed OK! into her home to chat about what life is like with Hollywood’s new top dog.

Clyde is headlining a movie. How did he break into the business?

Finding him was a process. We went  to pounds, shelters. Then my boss went to a breeder in Texas who was boarding dogs for hunting, and he was willing to part with Clyde.

How did you train him to be a terror?

We were all about destroying things — tearing up couches, pillows, knocking down people. I built it to the point where he was almost becoming obsessive on wanting to destroy something.

Did Owen or Jen get hurt?

One time he was supposed to grab some pillows, and Owen comes in wanting to grab him, and Clyde whacked him in the face with the pillow! We also had a day when I got reprimanded: Clyde was in a scene with Owen and Jen, and he peed on Owen’s leg.

Did Clyde like Jen better than Owen?

Owen is very playful, so I would say he would tend to go toward him. But what Jen did every morning — she was really sweet — she would always come and pet him. She would say, “Hi, Clyde! How are you?” And she would give him a kiss.

Did they bring their dogs to the set?

Yes, both their dogs were there. Garcia [an Australian cattle dog] is Owen’s dog, and he was there a lot. He was a little protective of his owner and was jealous to see Owen with another dog. Norman [a Welsh corgi-terrier mix] was with Jen all of the time. He is an older dog, so he was usually by the monitors, hanging out.

The film is about romance and relationships. Does Clyde have a girlfriend?

Well, Clyde lives with many other dogs. Come to think of it, they are all males, so I
don’t know!

Jennifer Aniston: No Going Solo

December 15th, 2008

What could be worse than competing with your ex on the day your film premieres? For Jennifer Aniston, going dateless on the red carpet while Brad Pitt squired Angelina Jolie around was a completely unacceptable idea.

Page Six reports that Jen was not ready to do the promotional rounds for Marley & Me alone, especially since Brad’s movie would be in the media eye at the same time, as they both hit theaters on Christmas day.

During her brief split with John Mayer, Jen’s people were apparently looking for suitable red carpet candidates.

"She didn’t want to face the glare of being unattached while Brad Pitt toted Angelina Jolie around," for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Page Six quotes a source as saying, adding that she "did not want to be single when her movie opened."

"A friend of her agent was calling around asking for young men whom they could set her up with," the source adds.

However drastic measures were avoided when Jen and John reunited, and it seems the musician has been playing his part.

"I’m here to support my girl," he told reporters at the L.A. premiere.

Jen & John React to Naked GQ Cover

December 12th, 2008

Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer were in rare form at Thursday night’s premiere of Jen’s film Marley & Me in L.A.

The actress, 39, and her younger beau, 30, were eager to talk about her recent GQ cover, in which Aniston appears naked on the cover.

"I wasn’t naked. I actually had a whole outfit on," Aniston joked in an interview with Extra, airing tonight. "They photoshopped the picture!"

As for Mayer’s opinion of the cover, the singer said, "If you have a problem with that cover, go make bagels!"

Mayer also revealed a secret about his lady love. "Do you know that girl can sing?…She does it when she doesn’t think anybody’s paying attention," he said. "I said to her the other night, ‘There’s a track in there.’ I think she could do this Light of Mine and kill it."

Jen’s Mothering Practice

December 4th, 2008

There’s no doubt that Jennifer Aniston has done some good movies in the past, along with the bad. No matter what, however, her movies are what she wants the focus to be on, not her personal life.

”[Election night] was just so moving, so unbelievable,” she tells Entertainment Weekly. ”And now what do people do? Read my crap! Everything comes to a halt: ‘What did she say?’ Good God. You have to laugh at it all at the end of the day.”

Her newest movie, Marley and Me, has her playing both a mother and wife, something she’s rarely done in the past.

”Sometimes you’re not always so thrilled about the movie you’re pushing,” she admits. ”But this is a good one.”

And while her motherly role came as a challenge, Jen, who adds that she feels everything in her life is "just beginning" says pretending to be a mom was definitely a good thing.

”I feel like that’s in my future and I’m on the verge of it in some way — or it’s something I long for. So it was great to sort of dip your toe in it.”

As for playing a wife to Owen Wilson in the movie, Jen’s opinion on their story echoes with a bit of familiarity, bringing up her own marriage to ex Brad Pitt.

”What was interesting was the story of these two people, how it doesn’t always look so pretty,” she explains of Marley and Me. ”You have your ideas and your dreams when you start out, and you’re sort of wide-eyed and bushy-tailed as a young married couple. Then life unfolds and it doesn’t always take you in the directions you hope that it will.”

Don’t expect Jen to start blabbing about her past romances, however. She’s staying tight-lipped and keeping her life to herself.

”It’s my history," the 39-year-old says. ”It’s my memory. That’s all it is to me: something that happened, something that was really quite poignant and good in the long run.”

And even if she’s staying mum on Brad, she doesn’t harbor any ill will against him, confessing that she wants his next movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, to do well, even though it opens the same day as Marley and Me.

”I’ve seen about an hour of it," she says of Brad’s movie. It’s amazing. Amazing."

Owen Wilson Flirts Up a Storm

May 13th, 2008

One would think that within months of a suicide attempt, you’d be better off laying low. Not for Owen Wilson.

A night after wrapping Marley & Me in Miami, the actor hit the town in New York City with a few ladies — and sans gal pal Kate Hudson.

Joined by Marquee nightclub owner Noah Tepperberg, a male friend and a bevy of women, Owen dropped by Monday night hotspot Butter, where he tried to blend in with the crowd, an eyewitness tells OK!.

“He sat up on the banquette, but tried to remain inconspicuous,” the source tells OK!. “He’d hide behind others at the table and was wearing a baseball cap.

No worries though, the 39-year-old, who is not engaged to Kate , wasn’t hitting the bottle.

“He only drank water,” the eyewitness says. “Everyone else at the table did several shots of Patron, but he stuck with a bottle of water.”

That left Owen plenty of time to chat it up with the ladies. After being introduced to an admirer, the comedian turned his attention to a Kate lookalike next to him.

If you can’t be with the one you love, love the one you’re with, right?

"She definitely wasn’t Kate,” the source says. “She has a bigger nose and looks a bit like a less cute version of Kate Hudson."

Fret not, Kate. Nothing more transpired from the club flirting.

"They got up to leave at 1:30 and the girl followed him, but Owen turned around, spoke to her for a minute, then continued toward the exit with the guys while all the girls stayed behind," the source says.
