The headlines in the past few weeks have been a bit rough toward Hayden Panettiere, with one magazine accusing the Heroes star of lashing out at a reporter during an event in Hawaii and with sources telling OK! of on-set tension between her and former boyfriend Milo Ventimiglia.
However, when OK! had the chance to get Hayden’s side of both stories, we jumped at the chance.
"Milo and I are very close," the 19-year-old beauty explains to OK!. "We have enjoyed and continue to enjoy working together."
OK! also heard from Heroes honcho Tim Kring, who said that his stars’ relationship status has nothing to do with how he and his staff plot the NBC hit. "The final decision about which characters live and die on Heroes rests with me," he tells OK!. "I’ve made no announcement yet as to who will return and who won’t."
As for the alleged outburst against a tabloid reporter in Hawaii, Hayden says it’s all been blown out of proportion.
"I have tremendous respect for the media and reporters – particularly the press who treat the people they are interviewing with dignity," she says. "I am appreciative that the press has supported me, my career, and especially the causes I feel passionately about. While in Hawaii, one reporter grabbed me suddenly from behind and frightened me. It happens. Typically, the press has treated me with great respect."

Heroes’ Hayden Panettiere has decided to take her bitter breakup with co-star Milo Ventimiglia to the small screen. Hayden, 19, is trying to get Milo, 31, kicked off of the show, according to a mutual friend.
“She refuses to be on the set at the same time as him,” the pal tells OK!. “She is making it difficult for everyone involved.” (Her rep denies this).
As for Milo, “He’s not going to play any games or stoop to her level,” says the friend.
Since the split, Hayden has been linked to a string of men including rocker Anthony Kiedis, 46, her ex Stephen Colletti, 23, and Gerard Butler, 39.

Paris Hilton has a new sidekick — a newly single Hayden Panettiere!
Since splitting with Heroes co-star Milo Ventimiglia, 31, last month, Hayden, 19, has joined Paris at L.A. hot spots Apple Lounge and Guy’s, and marked her new BFF’s 28th birthday chez Paris.
And it sounds like the break-up hasn’t left her jaded by older men.
Quite the opposite in fact! With Paris as mentor, she’s coming on to every older man in her path — including Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Anthony Kiedis, 46, and actor Gerard Butler, 39.
“Hayden is really mature, so she goes for guys that are older,” a source tells OK!.
The co-stars, who had been dating for around a year, split last month — apparently because their 12-year age gap was becoming a problem.
Even Heroes Like to Party!

Are you ready for the new season of NBC’s Heroes? The cast sure is, gearing up for the show at a "countdown to the premiere" party last night at L.A.’s Edison Lounge.
Milo Ventimiglia told OK! viewers should be eagerly anticipating their third season premiere on Sept. 22.
“Expect the unexpected,” he said, adding that his character Peter “is not quite himself. He really is influenced by the people around him and may be acting out of character.”
Milo was joined on the red carpet by his co-star and girlfriend, Hayden Panettiere, as well as cast members Jack Coleman, Ali Larter, Masi Oka, Zachary Quinto, and Adrian Pasdar.
Hayden’s TV dad, Jack Coleman, told OK! the recent trouble with Hayden’s real life father, who was arrested for allegedly hitting her mom, has not affected the young actress on the set.
“She said everything’s fine. She’s tough and resilient and so is the family and I don’t think it was quite as big a deal as it was made out to be," he said. "I’m not taking sides but I’m just telling her that I’m there for her if she needs me, but she didn’t [take me up on it]."
Jack had nothing but good things to say about Hayden, who rocked the red carpet in a black velvet blazer, skin-tight black Fendi pants, and red Christian Louboutin heels.
“Her poise is extraordinary," he said of the young star. "I couldn’t handle her life as well as she does. There’s no way I could handle people saying the things about me that they say about her."
How did Ali keep her poise for the party? By eating pepperoni pizza with fiancé, actor Hayes MacArthur.
“I learned very early on that if you don’t eat before you come to these things, you are in such deep trouble," she confessed. "I’m a fainter, so if I don’t eat every couple of hours, they’ll lose me on the red carpet.”
We wouldn’t want that to happen!
