Shania Twain Talks About Writing Through the Pain

June 12th, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

It’s been almost seven years since Shania Twain released her last album of new songs, and if there’s anyone more frustrated than her fans about that fact, it’s the country superstar herself. And in a revealing new letter posted on her official fan site, Shania writes candidly about how the end of her marriage in 2008 has made it even more difficult to be productive.

"Music is the basis of our relationship," Shania writes to her fans. "And I realize I’m not holding up very well on my end of the relationship… I wish like crazy that I had new music by now since I dream of how fun it would be to see you all again out on tour with new songs to sing, but as most of you know, I have been side-tracked slightly over this past year."

While Shania admits that the traumatic split from husband of 14 years Mutt Lange has taken its toll on her ability to work, she’s also trying to see the silver lining on that cloud.

"I’ve been inspired by my pain to write and use writing as a therapy through the suffering," she reveals. "I truly wouldn’t wish this on anybody as a means to get inspired, but it’s been a productive period with so much emotion trying to find it’s way out."

That being said, she also warns that she’s not ready to give anyone a timeline on when they can expect new songs from her.

The country star explains that, as much as she loves her music and her fans, her children take top priority. "I am a mom and all my energy goes to making sure my little man is healthy and happy in every way," she writes, referring to son Eja, who will turn 8 in August. "This is a full time job, as any parent understands, but especially difficult when you are battling your own personal crisis at the same time while trying to spare your child of being affected by your own suffering."

Adds Shania, "Please be patient and I will do my best to continue working on a finished album!"

Kenny Chesney: I Flirted With Shania!

November 13th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

Country star Kenny Chesney knows a thing or two about hooking up — and even more about breaking up — in the spotlight, having met, married and split from actress Renée Zellweger in less than nine months in 2005. So it’s no surprise that he’d have some things to say to fellow country superstar Shania Twain to help her get over her break from ex-husband Mutt Lange.

"I flirted with her!" he joked at the Country Music Awards in Nashville on Wednesday night, where he was awarded the Entertainer of the Year award by Shania, making her first public appearance since splitting from Mutt in May.

In all seriousness, Kenny did have this to share about having your love life be the stuff headlines are made of: "Relationships are hard anyway — for anybody — but it’s even tougher when your life is a spectator sport."

It’s been a rough few months for Shania, who saw her marriage of 15 years crumble amid charges of infidelity with the couple’s longtime personal assistant. "She’s an amazing artist. She can do anything she wants to do," said Kenny. "Great songs are the key."

Shania’s Secretary: I Didn’t Break Up Marriage

May 22nd, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

In the wake of reports that Shania Twain’s 14-year marriage to record producer Mutt Lange ended because he left the country superstar for another woman, that other woman has finally decided to speak to defend herself.

Talking to E! News from her hom in Geneva, Switzerland, on Thursday morning, Marie-Anne Thiébaud, a longtime secretary and house manager at Shania and Mutt’s Swiss estate said, "When marriages break up, they break up for all sorts of complicated reasons, it’s never just one. And those reasons should be kept private."

Responding directly to rumors that she is directly responsible for the split, Thiébaud claimed, "If you’re looking for a person that broke up a marriage then you have the wrong person. I’m not that person."

And while reports allege that she and Mutt are now officially an item, Marie-Anne would only comment that she no longer works at the family estate. "I’m retired," she said.
