Natasha Richardson’s Will Released

June 1st, 2009

Natasha Richardson, who was struck down in March after a seemingly simple fall on a ski slope, remembered friends and family alike in her will, which was written in 2005.

The actress set aside $200,000 for half-sister Katharine Grimond Hess; $50,000 to Josephine Burke, an employee and $10,000 to TV costumer Kevin Mark Harris. She also left $20,000 for her aunt.

The bulk of the late star’s estate, however, went to her husband Liam Neeson. He and one of the couple’s closest friends, Aidan Quinn, are listed as executors of her estate.

Natasha would have been 46 on May 11.

Aidan Quinn Says Liam is “Doing Amazingly Well”

April 24th, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

Life will surely never be the same for Liam Neeson and his two sons following the tragic loss of his wife Natasha Richardson in a March skiing accident, but, close family friend Aidan Quinn tells OK! that the family is "doing very well" in the face of tragedy.

"He’s very grateful for all the love and support he’s gotten from across the globe," Aidan said about Liam at Friday’s premiere of his upcoming film The Eclipse in NYC. "He’s got a great family and a great support system of friends, and they’re all doing as well as could be expected under the circumstances."

As for Liam’s two teen sons, Danny and Michael, Aidan says, "They’re really doing amazingly well, considering. I think these things probably take a long time to sink in. You’ve got the rest of your life to take that on board… There’s no timetable for it, you know."

Aidan, who attended a Knicks basketball game with Liam and the boys on April 15, tells OK! that he’s doing whatever he can, especially for the kids. "Danny’s my godchild, so I’d better be there for him," the actor explains. "And Michael means the same to me… We’re very close."

The key, as Aidan sees it, for how Liam is managing to keep his family together is that "he keeps their life very, very normal. They’ve got school, they’ve got homework, they’ve got friends to hang out. They’ve got a Ranger game to go to, they’ve got a Knicks game to go to. I think that’s very important, and that’s what Tasha would’ve wanted. She wouldnt want them moping around. They’ve gotten on with their lives, which is just amazing."

With regard to how he keeps his family happy and together, Aidan — who is married to Sopranos actress Elizabeth Bracco, tells OK! that what’s important is "being very honest and forthright, and having a strong and deep commitment to your love for each other. It’s not that it’s not rough. All marriages have their ups and downs and rocky parts, but you’ve gotta have that love underneath, first and foremost."

Liam Neeson Takes First Movie Since Tragedy

April 9th, 2009

It looks like Liam Neeson is not letting his grief hold him back from his work.

The bereaved husband of Natasha Richardson has signed on for his first role since she died after a freak skiing accident on March 18.

The British-born actor was working on the film Chloe with Julianne Moore when the tragedy happened, and just finished up with that project about a week ago.

Now the Hollywood Reporter says that he has signed up to play opposite Ralph Fiennes, in a remake of Clash of the Titans.

The lifelong friends will play warring gods in the Greek-god epic from Incredible Hulk director, Louis Leterrier.

They’ll be shooting in the UK, which means that Northern Ireland-born Liam and the couple’s children, Micheal and Daniel, will be near their family.

Vanessa Redgrave is grieving the loss of her daughter Natasha Richardson, who passed away unexpectedly last week, so it’s no surprise that she’s chosen to delay a performance of her one-woman show, The Year of Magical Thinking.

Eonline.com reports that the legendary actress was supposed to perform on April 27 at NYC’s Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine.

St. John’s spokesman, Jonathan Korzen, tells E! News that the one-night-only appearance by the 72-year-old Oscar winner is expected be rescheduled by the end of the week and that the church was "deeply saddened" by Natasha’s death.

There is also the possibility of a special memorial tribute to Natasha with the show, which recounts author Joan Didion’s experiences mourning the deaths of her husband and daughter.

Broadway Stars Remember Natasha Richardson

March 20th, 2009

It was a bittersweet evening for Broadway at the opening of the revival of West Side Story at the Palace Theater in NYC last night. Earlier in the night, the lights of the Great White Way had dimmed to honor the passing of one of its brightest stars, Natasha Richardson.

Some of the celebrity guests took the moment to express their sadness and reflect upon the actress’s life on stage.

Patrick Wilson, a Broadway vet who starred on screen with Natasha in 2007’s Evening talked to OK! about his feelings of grief.

"It’s an unexplainable, tragic, senseless loss. It’s just a time for her family to reflect and our prayers go out to her whole family," he shared.

Kathleen Turner, who like Natasha, has worked both on stage and on film was trying to make sense of the tragedy.

"It’s just so damn shocking!" she told OK!, "She’s so young and so good and so sweet. I liked her tremendously. And I know that they’ll [her family] handle as best they can, I feel sorry they have to at all."

Cheyenne Jackson, who was last seen on stage in Xanadu, told OK! how he had worked with Natasha to help others.

"I worked with amfAR a lot and she was tireless in her work with amfAR for people living with HIV," he remembered. "There’s really no words. We’re just walking to our play in the morning, it’s a sunny day and her life is gone. It’s very hard. It’s perspective. It’s unbelievably tragic."

Report: Richardson Hospitalized Hours Later Than Thought

March 20th, 2009

A new report in The New York Times seems to have a conflicting story about when Natasha Richardson was actually admitted to the hospital after her ski accident on Monday.

A resort spokesperson at Mount Tremblant in Canada had said that the actress went to the hospital about an hour after her fall and was laughing and walking off her injury in between.

However, the NYT story says that paramedics didn’t see her laughing or walking from a distance—they saw her sitting on a stretcher, and were told to leave without Natasha. Ambulance records also indicate that she wasn’t transported to the Montreal hospital until four hours after the accident.

A NYC medical examiner’s report said yesterday that Natasha died of an epidural hematoma after blunt impact to the head.

Natasha’s family has requested that donations be made in her name to the amfAR foundation for AIDS research, according to family spokesman Alan Nierob, the Associated Press reports.
