Nick Hogan Out of Jail

October 21st, 2008

After spending six months in the slammer for reckless driving, Nick Bollea, aka Nick Hogan, was released from Pinellas County Jail in Florida early this morning.

Hulk Hogan’s son was behind the wheel in August 2007 and allegedly racing another car, when he crashed the Toyota Supra, severely injuring his friend and passenger, John Graziano. The former Marine wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and will need medical care for the rest of his life.

Nick was set free for good behavior, and ran right into the arms of sister Brooke Hogan, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Mom Linda Bollea, who is in the middle of a bitter divorce from Hulk, released a statement on Tuesday morning to ask that the media respect the family’s privacy, saying:

"This is our time as a family to come together to support Nick’s adjustment back into the public life, keeping it as normal as possible. Neither Nick, nor we as a family, has any interest in making this anything but private. We respect the media’s role and only ask that they respect our privacy. Nick went into prison as a juvenile and has experienced something that will mold and affect him for the rest of his adult life. His focus is to make a positive difference in this world, media-free. Since his future actions will speak louder than any words, there is no need to speak to the media at this time."

Nick Bollea: Still Confined

June 3rd, 2008

A judge has rejected Nick Bollea’s request to be released from solitary confinement.

The 17-year-old son of Hulk Hogan is currently serving an eight-month jail sentence stemming from an August 2007 car accident that gravely injured his friend. On Monday, his people filed a motion to change his program to home confinement because solitary confinement for up to 17 hours a day was causing him "unbearable anxiety."

However, officials say the reason this isolation is because he’s a minor, despite the fact that he was convicted as an adult.

That’s not the only legal action Nick’s lawyers took Monday. They also sued Florida’s Pinellas County sheriff for violating Nick’s privcay, claiming that the sheriff illegally released private recordings between Nick and his family to the media.

Hulk Hogan’s Son to Serve Eight Months in Jail

May 9th, 2008

Nick Bollea, Hulk Hogan’s son, has been sentenced to eight months in jail for reckless driving, Florida’s Pinellas County Court ruled Friday.

The 17-year-old pleaded “no contest” for the August 2007 car crash that rendered his friend and passenger John Graziano comatose.

In addition to the prison term, to commence immediately, Judge Phillip Federico sentenced Nick to 500 hours of community service, five years probation (during which he must remain alcohol-free), three-year license suspension and mandatory DUI classes to be completed during the first year of probation.

Nick, who was joined in court by his father, mother, Linda, and sister Brooke, could have faced up to five years behind bars, but thanks to the plea agreement, that number was reduced. The Graziano family did ask the court for no less than one year in jail for Nick for having “destroyed my son’s future,” as John’s father, Edward, put it.

Both families spoke before the court, with Nick asking the Grazianos for forgiveness and mercy.

"Everyday I miss being with John," Nick said. "I feel terrible. There is no court punishment that will make-up for what happened to John."

Still, "you can’t undo what happened to John," Judge Federico said.

Nick was driving a Toyota Supra with John, 22, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, in the passenger seat on Aug. 26 in Clearwater, Fla., when the car crashed into a palm tree. According to police reports, the vehicle was traveling at 60 mph – 20 above the speed limit. He was charged with reckless driving with serious bodily injury in connection.
