Brooke Hogan Defends Her Dad

Brooke Hogan has jumped to the defense of her dad, Hulk Hogan, who publically likened the rage he feels towards ex-wife, Linda Hogan, to that of alleged killer OJ Simpson.

Brooke tells The Insider and ET, "I cannot believe how blown out of proportion one small part of a 7-page article has become. It’s a classic case of a quote being taken out of context."

Brooke says she has nothing but the highest respect for her dad. "I look up to my father in every way," she says. "He has been through so much and has taken the high road through it all. The idea that he would condone the OJ situation is just outrageous."

Hulk Hogan Sides with OJ Simpson?

Uh-oh, Hulk Hogan just comitted the ultimate no-no: likening the rage he feels toward soon-to-be ex, Linda Hogan, to that of OJ Simpson.

The former WWF star tells Rolling Stone he understands why Simpson (allegedly) went on a killing spree, violently murdering ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman in 1994.

"I totally understand OJ," he says. "I get it. I could have turned everything into a crime scene like OJ, cutting everybody’s throat."

Yikes! Them’s some fierce fighting words Hulk! But Hogan explains, "You live half a mile from the 20,000-square-foot home you can’t go to anymore, you’re driving through downtown Clearwater and see a 19-year-old boy driving your Escalade, and you know that a 19-year-old boy is sleeping in your bed, with your wife."

He is referring of course to Linda’s new boyfriend, whom he calls "some shaggy haired pool boy 30 years her junior." Linda reportedly forced Hogan out of his $18 million home and started spending his money at the rate of $40,000 a month.

To be expected, the Hulk’s rep was in full damage control mode on Wednesday, telling Access Hollywood that Hogan, "in no way condones the OJ Situation."

 

Hogan and Linda are battling it out in a Florida divorce court, where Linda’s attorney claims she’s entitled to use the car and that Hogan’s claims against her are merely an attempt to control her love life.

Kanye West Opens Mouth, Inserts Foot — Again

Kanye West is known for his out-of-left field comments on everything from politics to personal issues. And during a three hour shoot where he recently performed for VH1’s Storytellers, West shot his mouth off again about Chris Brown, Michael Jackson and O.J. Simpson.

Show producers cut the comments out of the show, but according to Superficial.com, Reuters got the goods.

West asks the crowd, "Can’t we give Chris a break? … I know I make mistakes in life." In the same context, West earned loud applause with his declaration: "Michael Jackson, amazing. Michael Phelps, amazing … He’s a real f—in’ person; he makes mistakes," referring to the champion swimmer’s recent bong pipe brouhaha.

VH1 has cleaned up those comments a bit, and it also included West’s less-popular follow-up observation: "O.J. Simpson, amazing. Is he not? What he did, when he did, what he did. Was he not amazing though?"

Riiiight.   

OJ Sentenced To 15 Years

OJ Simpson is finally going to jail.

The former football star — who escaped prison after he was acquitted of murdering his ex-wife — has been sentenced to 15 years for armed robbery.

According to MSNBC.com, a Nevada judge told OJ today that he wouldn’t be allowed bail pending an appeal, and that he would only be eligible for parole in six years.

Judge Jackie Glass said that he deserved to do time for being the "ring leader" of an armed robbery in 2007, which OJ claimed was just an attempt to get back family momentos.

Minutes before the sentencing, OJ — who was found guilty on Oct. 3 — claimed that when he held up memorabila collectors at the Palace Station hotel and casino in Las Vegas, he just wanted to re-claim his daughters wedding ring and photographs that he felt belonged to his son.

 

"I just wanted my personal things. I was stupid. I’m sorry. I didn’t know I was doing anything illegal," he told the court, his voice shaking.

 

"I thought I was confronting friends. I thought I was retrieving my things. I didn’t mean to hurt anybody and I didn’t mean to steal anything."

But, according to the site, Judge Jackie Glass said: "You can’t take back your own property by force. This is not behavior we can say this is OK, don’t worry."

"You went to the room, you took guns, you used force, you took property," she went on, "whether it was yours or someone else’s, and in this state that amounts to armed robbery."

 

He was found not guilty of killing his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994.

 

His co-defendant, C.J. Stewart, who helped him with the robbery has yet to be sentenced.

OJ’s Attys Ask for Minimum 6-Yr Setence

OJ Simpson’s defense has asked that he receive the minimum sentence of six years in prison for his October robbery and kidnapping conviction, calling a recommendation of 18-years "inappropriate and knee-jerk."

Simpson, who in the 1990s was famously cleared of double murder charges in which his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman were brutally stabbed to death, was found guilty on Oct. 3 in the armed robbery of a pair of memorabilia collectors at the Palace Station hotel and casino in Las Vegas.

The 61-year-old football legend and his co-defendant, Clarence "C.J." Stewart, are scheduled for sentencing on Friday and could face life in prison for their conspiracy, burglary, kidnapping, robbery and assault convictions.

"Simpson has never previously been convicted of a crime. Thus, he now stands before the court as a first-time offender," defense attorney Gabriel Grasso told the judge in court papers.

A report filed by the probation officials has not been made public, but according to the defense, it calls for Simpson and Stewart, 54, to be sentenced to 18 years behind bars.

Mariah Rubs Off On Nick Cannon

Newlywed Nick Cannon has developed Mariah itis judging by his three-hours-late appearance at Operation Smile’s Fifth Annual Smile Event held at Skylight Studios in NYC. (Mariah Carey is notoriously running behind – she was 11 hours late for interviews to promote her new album E=MC2.)

Around 8:30 p.m., Mariah’s bodyguard, dressed in a dapper white jacket, begins scoping out the scene. He’s pacing the street. Photogs crack that she could walk – she lives nearby.

But when her new hubby Nick finally arrives, he makes it all worth it. How is he feeling? “I’m good,” he beams, smiling from ear-to-ear. I’ve talked to Nick on so many red carpets over the years. He’s lapping up the attention.

Operation Smile ambassador Jessica Simspon can’t be here tonight because she celebrating Ashlee’s nups, but gal pal Jamie Lynn Sigler brings her pregnant sister-in-law Whitney and bro Mark. And, it’s Jamie Lynn’s birthday! “I slept in really, really late,” she tells me. “I got a huge balloon bouquet from my girlfriends back in L.A. It was a surprise. I got a lot of nice e-mails and phone calls. Birthdays are a nice time to catch up with people you haven’t spoken to in awhile. Later I’ll meet up with some friends.”

Donald Trump tells me he got into trouble with NBC for saying he’d like O.J. Simpson to appear on the next Celebrity Apprentice, which starts taping in October. “I wouldn’t say NBC was thrilled,” he admits.

And it’s a special night for his son, Donald Jr., who is here with wife Vanessa.

“It’s funny because a year ago at this event, on the red carpet Vanessa went into labor,” Ivanka’s brother tells me. “It’s a pretty special time for us, coming back here. Last year at this time, she was literally about to explode and literally almost exploded on this red carpet.”

Their baby girl, Kai, recently celebrated her birthday. “We had a big party for her and her 25 – I didn’t know babies had – friends. Her 25 closest friends. Vanessa set up a Mickey and Minnie Mouse-themed party. She had a lot of fun. She’s getting big and growing well.”

What are playdates like for the kids of The Donalds? “They hang around and drool on each other and play. Barron’s a year-and-a-half older, so there’s still a bit of an age gap.”

Tinsley Mortimer, sister Dabney Mercer, former Pussycat Doll Carmit Bachar and Olivia Palermo strut through. Turns out, Olivia considers Mariah a neighbor. “She lives right next door,” she tells me. “We’re happy to have her in the neighborhood.”

The Trumps call it a night before – voila – Mariah shows up. She lovingly looks on as her new hubby DJs tunes including her song Fantasy.

O.J. Simpson To Appear on ‘Apprentice’?

Donald Trump courted scandal when asked about his dream guest on Celebrity Apprentice.

“I could tell you but I’d get in trouble,” the judge, 61, tells OK! at the Operation Smile event held May 15 in NYC. “There was an O.J. Simpson theory going out there. I wouldn’t say NBC was thrilled about that. I have a lot of them. We have them all coming.”

The show has been renewed for two more seasons, and begins shooting in October.

Without naming names, The Donald tells OK! “We’ve got really amazing, well-known celebrities. It’s going to be great.”

OJ Simpson Is Not A Celebrity Apprentice

There were murmurs earlier this week that OJ Simpson would be the newest celebrity to try his luck on Celebrity Apprentice in the upcoming season. But OK! can confirm that this is nothing more than rumor.

An NBC Celebrity Apprentice rep confirmed to OK! that OJ Simpson is not in the running to be cast on next season’s Celebrity Apprentice. While casting is underway after America’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan won the last installment, OK! can confirm that the controversial ex-footballer will not be one of those in the running to compete!

How did the rumor start? OJ Simpson approached Donald Trump to be on his show but that’s where things ended. A source close to to the show said, "NBC is not considering OJ Simpson nor have they ever at all for this — Donald Trump was big on the idea for a few minutes but NBC didn’t even consider it!"

An NBC Celebrity Apprentice rep confirmed that OJ Simpson is not in the running to be cast on Celebrity Apprentice.

 

It’s looks like he didn’t even get a chance to get fired!

Fred Goldman: OJ’s a Piece of Trash!

After OJ’s Las Vegas arrest over the weekend, Extra caught up with Ron Goldman’s dad, Fred Goldman. He told the show, "I’m not surprised at this happening. He does what he wants, when he wants. He is sort of like the master puppeteer. He manipulates people as he wants."

"If you think in terms of his behavior, it doesn’t surprise me at all. There’s nothing lower than a person who murders two human beings. There’s nobody lower than him."

OJ was put on trial in 1994 for the double homicides of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ron Goldman. He was found innocent on all charges.

Later in a civil trial OJ was found liable and was ordered to pay the Goldmans $8.5 million in compensatory damages. Of that ordeal, Fred said, “During the civil trial he was found accountable for Ron’s death. The system doesn’t give you the easy opportunity to collect on it, to really nail him. He continues to make money."

He added, "OJ’s a piece of trash. He’s a murderer. He believes the world is his to play with as he wants. He’s never done anything other than play football."
