Star Jones’ Health Scare

Before she was Star Jones, famous TV personality, she was a teenage girl struggling with a weight problem and a scary diagnosis.
"I was diagnosed with a tumor in my chest cavity," she tells Extra in an interview airing tonight of her health scare as a teen. "It left me with some physical scars and some emotional ones and I used to do everything in my power to hide the scar on the center of my chest."
"When they took the bandages off in the hospital, I had a complete nervous breakdown, almost," she adds. "[I wasp] crying because I saw my chest with stitches and sutures and it really devastated me at 19 years old."
Star also says the radiation treatment she underwent affected her weight.
"My thyroid was completely irradiated. So I saw myself balloon over the years and then that coupled with being lethargic and sedentary and overeating and relying on food, it just became an epidemic," says the formerly overweight TV personality.
Star will continue to shed light on her 160-pound weight loss on Oprah tomorrow, praising the daytime diva by saying,"She gives you a very safe place to share and sort of free yourself from demons. Oprah has been very candid about her weight struggles and I think it gave me a little bit of camaraderie to know that I was not just talking to her but I was talking to a number of her viewers who face the same struggle daily."
Madonna, Gwyneth Share Night Out

Gwyneth Paltrow is the belle of the ball during the Valentino: The Last Emperor premiere hosted by Quintessentially and Gilt Groupe held Tuesday at NYC’s Museum of Modern Art.
But the real surprise is when Madonna turns up at the after-party held in the Oak Room at The Plaza Hotel. Anything for Gwyneth, the Material Mom would surely say as she saunters into the party.
“It was hectic getting ready,” Gwyneth, 36, says. “We just flew in yesterday for this, and my kids are really jet-lagged. My son had a breakdown. But it was OK. We got out the door.”
What does she love about the designer?
“He’s from another time,” the mother to Apple, 4, and Moses, 2, says. “He’s one of the last — it’s maybe him and Karl Lagerfeld. They’re from a whole other? era where things were made completely differently. The approach is ?very different – the attention to detail, the perfection. He’s a real? master. It was incredible to see. I had the pleasure of going to his couturier and watching him? work a couple of times. Those are memories that I will really ?treasure. It’s amazing to see.”
Here comes Anne Hathaway. What has Valentino taught her?
“The search for beauty in your life is a worthy endeavor,” she says.
Selita Ebanks admits her style icon is Kate Moss.
“I love her because she’s a genius,” the Victoria’s Secret model, who was once engaged to Nick Cannon, tells me. “She takes something that’s glamorous and mixes and matches expensive, trendy and something that’s out of the box. I think that she’s fearless. I love her.”
What’s a life ‘do’ for Martha Stewart? “Be creative,” she yuks.

Joe Biden’s Wife Spills Secrets During Oprah Taping

Once Barack Obama and Joe Biden take office on Tuesday, they might want to keep the Vice President-elect’s wife Jill Biden away from any top-secret files — at least until she learns to not talk about them on national TV!
Joe and his wife of 31 years were the surprise guests at a Monday afternoon taping of a special inauguration-themed episode of The Oprah Winfrey show. But the real surprise came when Jill accidentally spilled the beans about some campaign secrets.
"When Oprah asked about how Joe being the Vice President would affect their family, Jill told her that he’d actually had the choice between being VP or Secretary of State," one audience member told OK! after the taping at Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center.
According to those inside the theater, the entire audience gasped and the VP-elect himself seemed taken aback by the slip-up.
"He put his finger over his lips and made a gesure like he was shushing his wife," said one witness. "Even after the commotion subsided, he seemed a little uneasy… leaning back with his arms crossed."
Once Oprah got over the shock of Jill’s accidental statement, she was able to continue on with the interview. Taking it in stride, Mrs. Biden explained to the queen of chat that, had her husband taken the job as Secretary of State — which ultimately went to Hillary Clinton — he would have been away from the family, traveling the world all the time. Taking the VP position allowed the entire Biden family to become part of the process, she explained.
When the show took a break following the Biden’s exit, a shocked Oprah turned to the audience and kept repeating, "Oh… my… God!"

Cate Blanchett gave a viewer on the Oprah Winfrey Show some food for thought when she offered up her advice for finding the perfect mate.
When a caller asked the question, "What were you looking for when you found your husband?" Cate revealed, "Someone once said to me, and I think it’s quite true, that if your bodies actually fit together when you’re sleeping together in bed–I’m not going to get into too much detail– you’re in good stead," the Oscar winner said between giggles.
Cate added, "When you can spoon with someone, then you’re okay. Because you might not vote the same way, you might not have the same politics, but sometimes that works for people."
The actress also emphasized humor. "If you’re going to stay together, you’ve got to laugh a little bit. So spooning, humor and self-respect. My husband is a very strong individual. He’s not threatened…He’s happy for my success, and I’m happy for his."
Cate, 39, who appears in the film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button alongside Brad Pitt, has been married to husband Andrew Upton since 1997. The couple has three children, Dashiell, 7, Roman, 4, and Ignatius, 7 months.
Angelina: “100% Authentic & True”

Angelina Jolie may be the hottest actress around, but she doesn’t let the fawning inflate her ego — so says Oscar-winner Ron Howard, who produced her crime drama Changeling.
“As powerful and glamorous a person as she is, she was 100% authentic and true,” he tells OK! at the premiere of his new film, Frost/Nixon, premiere at NYC’s Ziegfeld Theatre on Monday. “She’s great.”
Now that Angelina, 33, is up to six kids – Maddox, 7, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, Shiloh, 2, and four-month-old twins Knox and Vivienne — with beau Brad Pitt, 44, she should be prepared to make sacrifices.
“For anybody who takes on that task and decides to deal with it responsibly, it means that there’s not much time for anything else,” Ron says. “You can love your family and you can love your work, and that had better be the extent of it because they’re both huge undertakings.”
Meanwhile, Pitt appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show (the interview airs Nov. 19), where he shared some of his family’s funnier moments.
Of daughter Shiloh, Brad says, "She only wants to be called John. John or Peter. So it’s a Peter Pan thing. So we’ve got to call her John. [I'll say] ‘Shi, do you want…’ [she'll say] ‘John. I’m John.’ And then I’ll say, ‘John, would you like some orange juice?’ and she goes, ‘No!’ So, you know, it’s just that kind of stuff that’s cute to parents, and it’s probably really obnoxious to other people."
Brad, who was on the show to promote his new film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, tells Oprah that when it comes to the daily routine, Angelina is the the boss.
"It’s like a half-hour just to get everyone buckled in and make sure they’ve got their snacks," he says. "Z.Z. [Zahara] has got a blanket and Shiloh’s got her silky. Angie’s militant about it. She’s right on top of it. Thank God, because I’m always forgetting something."
