Brad’s Scuffle With the Paparazzi

November 11th, 2008

The usually calm, cool and collected Brad Pitt definitely didn’t look too happy to see a crowd of paparazzi at the Bruin Theatre in L.A. last night waiting for him outside the theater he was in.

As he left a screening of his upcoming movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, he appeared angry, and it seemed he was being held back by a bodyguard to keep from going at the group of camera-flashing photogs.

And now the Executive Protection Specialist hired to protect the father of six has issued a statement to Entertainment Tonight regarding his role in last night’s brief scuffle.

"We were told by Mr. Pitts’ people that he was being followed by numerous paparazzi that ran a minimum of 20 red lights to keep up with Mr. Pitt. When Mr. Pitt arrived at the theater approximately 7 paparazzi bum rushed the front door of the theater and began to rush inside," the statement says. "It’s security’s sole priority to protect the talent and I removed Mr. Pitt immediately from what could have been a potentially dangerous situation."

Whew, close call!

Keanu: I never Hit a Pap!

October 28th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

Keanu Reeves is known for his cheesy one-liners in films (think Point Break: "I am an F-B-I agent!"). But on Tuesday, the actor had a big one-liner for the court:  I didn’t hit a paparazzo!

Reeves took the stand at his civil trial where he says he slowly moved his Porsche forward to get a paparazzo to move out of the way, but never hit him.

He testified about his recollection of a night in March 2007, when a photographer claims the actor seriously injured him with his car.  Alison Silva is suing the actor for damages and lost wages.  He claims Reeves pushed him to the ground with his car while Silva was taking pictures.

Wearing a dark suit and frequently using his hands, Reeves described how he tried to get Silva to get out in front of his car by rocking it and moving it slowly forward, but never hit the photographer.

Mary-Kate in Fender Bender

October 21st, 2008

A minor fender bender is annoying for anyone, and if you happen to be Mary-Kate Olsen and there are camera around, it’s downright obnoxious, even if it wasn’t her fault .

On a busy street yesterday in L.A., while MK sat shielding her face from photogs in the passenger seat of a Toyota Prius, her friend accidentally reversed into the car behind it as she attempted to pull out of a parking spot.

An El Pollo Loco employee, whose vehicle was apparently bumped by the Prius, assessed the damage with the friend as Mary-Kate chilled in the car.

As for how the hit vehicle fared, it’s unclear, as the video guy kept his camera on the tiny twin through the driver’s side window, which was open.

"Get out of the f—-ng window, are you kidding me?" an exasperated MK mutters to the cameraman. "You guys are…"

"Animals?" the photog helpfully fills in.

"Yeah," the celeb responds.

"Animals! I’m a cow, moooo," continues the ever vigilant paparazzi.

Finally Mary-Kate’s friend returned and the car pulled away successfully.

Woody on Scarlett: “She’s Gifted, It’s Obvious”

August 5th, 2008

While promoting his latest film Vicky Cristina Barcelona, seasoned filmmaker Woody Allen shared his thoughts on the media, the paparazzi and how he’s dealt with living a private life in the public eye.

In an interview with Extra, Allen, 72, says, "It’s not a natural thing for a human being to get out of the car and be photographed a thousand times and hear your name screamed. It’s very unnerving but I do it. I do it because I have a commitment to the movie and the producer."

Allen, who’s been in showbusiness for over 40 years, has a habit of using the same actress in several of his films. His most recent muse is the newly engaged Scarlett Johansson who stars alongside Penelope Cruz in Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

"She’s great. It’s obvious," Allen exclaims. "She’s beautiful. She’s talented. She’s gifted."

As for Scarlett’s view of Woody, the 23-year-old actress says, "I’ve always been a huge fan of his! I grew up in New York. My parents waited in line for his film’s opening night for an hour. I grew up watching his films. We’ve done three films together. It’s a dream come true for me. We make each other laugh and have a good time."

Scarlett starred in 2005’s Match Point and 2006’s Scoop. Both films were written and directed by Woody Allen.

Lindsay Fires Back at L.A. Police Chief

August 1st, 2008

Lindsay Lohan is taking no prisoners to protect her personal life and rumored relationship with d.j. pal Samantha Ronson.

On Friday, in response to L.A. Police Chief William Bratton’s comment that the city’s paparazzi problem is no longer an issue because evidently Lindsay Lohan "has gone gay," the actress fired back with a statement of her own.

And yes, it was to the paparazzi.

"Police, you shouldn’t get involved in everyone else’s business when it comes to their personal life.  It’s inappropriate," she said in a video posted on TMZ.

In the footage, Lohan and Samantha were trekking through the airport on their way to Chicago.

The day before, Chief Bratton said the paparazzi have become less of a problem thanks to Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Lohan leading more moderate lives.

”If you notice, since Britney started wearing clothes and behaving; Paris is out of town not bothering anybody anymore, thank God, and evidently, Lindsay Lohan has gone gay, we don’t seem to have much of an issue,” he told KNBC-TV.

Bratton was speaking about his refusal to participate in a meeting held by elected officials Thursday that was called to discuss new laws to curb problem paparazzi.

He called Los Angeles City Councilman Dennis Zine’s special session — which was attended by the likes of John Mayer, Eric Roberts and Milo Ventimiglia — ”a complete waste of time.”

Bratton later called a news conference outside police headquarters to clarify his position on the paparazzi. When asked about the Lohan remark — which followed months of tabloid speculation that Lohan and Ronson, a DJ, are dating — Bratton said his sister is gay and he is a proponent of gay rights.

L.A. Police Chief to Brit: “Stay Home Airhead!”

February 22nd, 2008

Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton was on a southern California radio show Friday morning, where he had some choice words for Britney Spears. The L.A. County Commissioner wants to pass new legislation that would protect attention-hog celebutants from the Paparazzi. But "Britney’s Law" , which claims to curb over aggressive paps, is not going over well with the city’s police chief.

On this morning’s 89.3 KPCC-FM Radio with Pat Morrison Bratton said:
"What we need is for Britney Spears to stay home instead of traipsing all over town. That would solve the problem. We don’t need additional laws…I’ve got laws coming out my ears to deal with this issue. What you have is several young women in this town and several young men basically making fools of themselves and tying up not only my resources but the resources of the media that would do better covering legitimate stories instead of a bunch of airheads running around out there…Quite clearly some of these characters so favored by the paparazzi are clearly in need of services. Not police services, but psychiatric services."

Whoa Nelly! Tell us how you really feel!

George Clooney Talks About Paparazzi Standoff

November 20th, 2007 / Author: cwillett

After video was leaked yesterday of George Clooney verbally scuffling with photographers who had followed the Oscar winner and his girlfriend during a weekend motorcycle ride, the superstar hunk is now talking about why he responded so viscerally.

“It’s not about shooting pictures, it’s about the risks
they’re taking and driving with reckless abandon,” George
explained to Entertainment Tonight. “I live on a street
where everyone hikes. There are mothers with strollers and elderly
people. What they’re doing is illegal, it’s high-speed chases and
they’re competing with each other. They’re not trying to catch me doing
something stupid, they’re trying to create me doing something stupid.”

He added, “You don’t get to break all these laws and then say ‘I’m just doing my
job.’ The guys that commit all these crimes are rewarded for it. It
creates bounty hunters in a way. They cry poor… then look at the cars
they’re driving… Mercedes and Land Rovers.”

After getting into a motorcycle accident two months ago while driving around New Jersey, it’s no surprise that George is responding so strongly to dangerous motorcycle driving. And, he comes to the defense of other stars who have had famous paparazzi encounters. “You look at the footage of Britney running the red
light… there’s eight guys with cameras at night in the middle of the
street. There are no rules now. It sounds like a bunch of well-off
people whining about how difficult their life is but I really don’t
believe that is the case. It’s getting to a point where people that are
not involved are getting hurt.”

“I’m the son of an anchorman,” George says, referring to his father, Nick Clooney, a noted TV newsman. “I don’t want to restrict
anyone’s rights. Take your pictures but don’t go 60 mph down a one-way
street. Don’t cause injury to people who aren’t involved.”
