Prince Charles on Doctor Who?

October 13th, 2008

Who says royalty has to be stiff?

Tune in to the BBC in 2010, and you could see Prince Charles appearing on Doctor Who, a popular British TV show about a time-traveling adventurer.

While the show’s executive producer Russell T. Davies jokingly labeled the Prince a "miserable swine" after Clarence House turned down the TV invite, a spokeswoman for the house, the Prince’s official residence, says Chaz could still appear on the program.

"We did receive a request from Doctor Who’s producers,"  Retuers quotes the rep as saying. "It was not turned down by Prince Charles but by a Clarence House official. We receive hundreds of requests and he doesn’t see them all."

"It’s not uncommon for people to resubmit requests with different criteria and if it was resubmitted we would look at it again," she adds.

Royals Rock Out

September 29th, 2008

Prince Charles knows how to party, apparently, and he’s planning two royal bashes in the upcoming months to celebrate his Nov. 14 60th birthday.

First a formal banquet will be held on Nov. 13 at Buckingam Palace, with guests like Prime Minister Gordon Brown, and then on Nov. 15 the Prince will have an event at Highgrove House, his family home, with 75 guests.

The two parties will be organized by Michael Fawcett, an expensive event planner chosen by Prince Charles’ wife Camilla.

“Camilla has worked extremely closely with the Queen and Michael on the formal birthday dinner. It will be an extravagant event with a lavish banquet," the Daily Star quotes a source as saying.

“Camilla is making the Highgrove party very much her own. She has invited Princes William and Harry and Kate Middleton and Chelsy Davy, as well as her children, Tom and Laura.”

However England, like America, is under a credit crunch right now as well. And just days before the announcement of the parties, the Daily Star says the Queen’s aides were seeking money to add to her 7.9 million pound civil list payment, which pays for upkeep her her household and expenses.

Prince William Gets His Wings

It was a proud day for Britain’s future king, Prince William, who celebrated his graduation from the Royal Air Force on Friday.

Britain’s Chief Air Marshall — who also happens to be William’s dad, Prince Charles — presented the 25-year-old and 32 other graduates with their flying "wings" during a 45-minute ceremony at RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire.

The prince’s uncle, Prince Andrew, was in attendance along with his step-mom Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.

William’s longtime love, Kate Middleton, was also there, and looked on proudly during the entire ceremony. Middleton also attended William’s army college graduation in 2006.

The young prince is following in the footsteps of his father, who also earned his RAF "wings" at the same flight school back in 1971. Prince Andrew is also a pilot, having flown helicopters in the South Atlantic during combat operations in 1982’s Falklands War.

Prince Harry and Chelsy: Back On and Stronger Than Ever!

It looks like fighting the Taliban does have its advantages!
After spending 10 weeks in Afghanistan, 23-year old Prince Harry is heating things up again with his on again/off again girlfriend, Chelsy Davy.

In the wee hours of Thursday morning, the pair was spotted together for the first time in six months leaving the London birthday party of Harry’s pal and former soldier.

Britain’s The Sun is reporting that the couple was overheard laughing and joking inside the party as Bob Marley records played. At one point, Harry burst out with "happy birthday" before he and Chelsy, 22, left the party together at 4 a.m.

Before leaving for Afghanistan, the couple had agreed to a "cooling off" period in their three-year relationship after a series of fights. A friend of the pair said, "Before setting off for Afghanistan, it looked as though their romance was at an end. Chelsy was sick of all the rows."

So what brought the two back together?

“Harry still adores Chelsy and being away only underlined that," says a friend of the prince.

Since Harry’s return on Saturday, the couple spent their first three days together at Prince Charles‘ Highgrove country estate and are planning a romantic Easter break in Chelsy’s native South Africa.

"She has barely left Harry’s side since he got home on Saturday," says another pal. "She has broken up early from university and it looks like they are enjoying a honeymoon period.”

The young prince has also reportedly vowed to give up his hard-living ways.

“They still have a few issues to work through, but they look happier than ever," the friend continues. “He [Harry] wants to stay in the kind of shape he has developed since being at war. He is also keen to remain off cigarettes.”

Prince Harry’s Brief Tour of Duty

February 29th, 2008 / Author: cwillett

Only a day after it was revealed that Prince Harry of England had been secretly serving in Afghanistan with the British military, the UK’s Ministry of Defence has confirmed that the youngest son of Prince Charles and Lady Diana is returning home.

Without being known publicly, the 23-year-old Prince had been fighting the Taliban in Helmand province as a battlefield air controller and Spartan light tank commander for the past 10 weeks. But after news of Harry’s not-so-secret operations were made public, he is now on his way back to England, amid concerns over both his safety and the safety of his fellow soldiers.

In a statement released Friday morning, the Ministry of Defence said: “Following a detailed assessment of the risks by the operational chain of command, the decision has been taken by Air Chief Marshal Sir Jock Stirrup, Chief of Defence Staff, in consultation with General Sir Richard Dannatt, Chief of the General Staff, to withdraw Prince Harry from Afghanistan immediately.

“This decision has been taken primarily on the basis that the worldwide media coverage of Prince Harry in Afghanistan could impact on the security of those who are deployed there, as well as the risks to him as an individual soldier.”

General Dannatt may be a name familiar to those who follow the Royals closely, as he had the dubious honor last year of announcing a U-turn on plans to deploy the Prince to Iraq after military intelligence picked up a series of specific threats to Harry and his comrades in Iraq.

No details are available on when he will arrive home.
