Motherhood is Sexy for Rebecca Romijn

May 15th, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

New mom Rebecca Romijn still hasn’t managed to shed the last bit of weight she gained while pregnant with twin daughters Charlie and Dolly. And the blonde beauty isn’t in any hurry to get back down to her original supermodel size.

"I feel as sexy as I have ever felt," Rebecca reveals in a new interview with InStyle. "I’m a jeans size up from where I usually am, but there’s nothing about it that freaks me out — I’ve always said that sexy is having a really strong sense of yourself and never taking yourself too seriously.”

And though the twin girls aren’t even six months old, Rebecca and husband Jerry O’Connell are already beginning to see the personality differences. She says that Dolly is "all baby and wants to have one-on-one relationships with people," while Charlie "is always looking around. She can’t wait to be out of this baby body because she’s got a lot to do… Dolly looks just like me, and Charlie looks like Jerry. We got one of each.”

Rebecca Romijn’s Secret to Shedding Baby Weight

April 30th, 2009

In addition to keeping up with your baby, the hardest part of being a new mom for any woman is shedding those extra pregnancy pounds. Well, Rebecca Romijn has a secret workout that’s allowed her to rid herself of almost all 60 lbs. she put on while waiting for her twin daughters to be born — nothing!

"I think within the first three weeks, I took off like 35 pounds without doing anything!” Rebecca tells Extra in her first interview since giving birth to little girls Charlie and Dolly. “I haven’t been able to work out that much because I have twins. It’s impossible to get back into a regular schedule."

And just like Angelina Jolie, Rebecca says that the one thing that has helped her lose weight is to keep her daughters well fed. "Breastfeeding is the very best diet I’ve been on," she reveals. "It’s amazing. It’s like you have to eat 5,000 extra calories a day or you can’t produce enough food for them.”

While the actress and model has a body that any new mom can envy, she’s being realistic about her expectations: “I’m not pretending to be back to the shape I was in beforehand anyway. I still have a ways to go…We’ve got Spanx underneath almost everything.”

So does Rebecca have any problems telling the twins apart from each other? “No because they look completely different," she explains. "One looks just like Jerry. Her name is Charlie and the other one looks just like me. Her name is Dolly. She’s a blonde and Charlie is a brunette and I think they are both just gorgeous.”

Be sure to watch Extra tonight and Friday to see the full interview!

Ana Ortiz to Name Her Baby ‘Bowl?’

March 20th, 2009

Ugly Betty star Ana Ortiz may only be six months pregnant, but her co-stars are already having fun coming up with the perfect baby name!

OK! caught up with Ana’a pal and Betty co-star Mark Indelicato at the West Side Story Broadway opening on March 19, where he shared some of his favorite monikers.

"We always joke on set about how we’re going to name her child one of those ‘Hollywood’ names," Mark told OK!. "So we pick inanimate objects. My name for Ana’s baby is Bowl. Because Bowl was the first thing I saw. I was like, ‘Oh my God, Bowl – perfect!’ Bowl Thread. That is the name of Ana’s baby."

Another Betty star, Rebecca Romijn, just had twins with her husband Jerry O’Connell. Has the new mom brought her babies to the set yet?

"She hasn’t," Mark tells OK!. "She’s in L.A., I want to see them so bad!"

Ana Ortiz Gets Top Notch Baby Advice!

February 19th, 2009

The set of Ugly Betty is no stranger to mommies-to-be, which is a blessing for star Ana Ortiz who’s reaping the benefits of Rebecca Romijn’s experience.

"Rebecca has this favorite pillow that she told me about," Ana dished to OK! at the 61st Annual Writers’ Guild Awards on Feb. 7 in NYC. "And also coconut water. Rebecca was like, coconut water, which is bizarre. I didn’t know it had natural electrolytes in it. It’s really good. She swears by that."

Another thing the cast and crew of the show are already used to is working with pregnancies, which in Ana’s case, means doing a little creative costuming.

"My character wears such hoochie, cha-cha clothes, so it’s going to be interesting to see that sort of adjustment. They’re going to do more cleavage and more legs," she tells OK!.

And when costumes don’t quite cut it, conveniently placed props –or actors! – can do the trick.

"Yesterday on set I actually did have to hide behind America [Ferrera] at one point," Ana reveals "But luckily, my character works in a salon so I can kind of stand behind the big Queen’s hair and tease it up really high."

The craft services table better make sure to have plenty of sweet treats around, however, or Ana might have to take matters into her own hands when it comes to her cravings.

"For me, I’ve always been a savory person but now I’m just a total sweet tooth," she adds. "If I see tiramisu, like I will knock you out of the way to get to it."

Since they’re hiding it on the show, I’m trying to maintain some dignity about it," she adds of eating anything she wants. "But it is fun. You do sort of have an excuse."

Guess Who Wears Becki Newton’s Pants

February 17th, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

Like most groups of friends, the Ugly Betty cast like to share clothes.

But which co-star do you think Becki Newton gives her jeans to because they look better on them than they do on her?

America Ferrera? Anna Ortiz? Rebecca Romijn, maybe? No, it’s… Mark Indelicato.

The 15-year-old actor was sporting just one of many pairs of the hand-me-downs at Sex and the City designer Patricia Field’s birthday party on Feb 15.

"These are my favorite skinny jeans by Becki Newton — that Becki Newton gave to me," he said at the bash held at D’Or at Dream Hotel in New York City.

"I have way too many pairs," explained Becki, "and I don’t like to have a lot of stuff, so I said [to Mark], ‘do you want some of my jeans’?

"And when I realized he wore them this well, I started giving him lots and lots of jeans."

So is it just the pants, or does Mark raid her whole closet?

"No — there’s nothing else he’d want in my closet!," said Becki.

Taylor Dayne Talks Surrogacy, Singlehood

February 16th, 2009

Taylor Dayne had a major influence on pop culture when she hit the big time in 1987 with a string of hits that included Tell It To My Heart, Prove Your Love, I’ll Always Love You, Don’t Rush Me, With Every Beat of My Heart, Love Will Lead You Back and I’ll Be Your Shelter.

By 1993, the name Taylor hit its peak in popularity of baby names.

“You wonder where they generated from, right?” she yuks. “It was a very uncommon name in 1987, that’s for sure, but it’s a compliment.”

Perhaps she even inspired the name of country’s latest sensation, Taylor Swift, who was born in 1989. She laughs off the suggestion. “I would say that her mother was a fan.”

Even though Taylor – who was born Leslie Wunderman – has had a remarkable career, she confesses her proudest moment was the surrogate birth of her twins Astaria and Levi, 6.

“I went for it, and I did it as a single mom,” the star of Gone Country, which airs Saturdays on CMT,  tells me. “I’m very proud of this achievement, and I’m very proud they chose me and I’m their mom.”

In this interview, Taylor, 46, opens up about her fertility choice and finding the right man.

Tell me about your surrogacy experience, and why you chose to take this route to conceive.
I did it quite differently than a lot of people. I had a surrogate carry it, and it was my egg. I went for one, and I got two. This is in 2001 right before 9/11 when she was pregnant with the twins, and I was on Broadway. She called me up and they told me.

I’m very proud of the achievement.

I didn’t want to lose the window of opportunity. I’d been through enough relationships where nothing stuck, and somebody mentioned a surrogate when I was thinking adoption.

I said ‘a surrogate? What is that?’ and they go ‘rent a womb.’ I’m like ‘rent a womb?’ And they’re like ‘it’s yours, they look like you.’ It was mind-blowing at the time. This was in the year 2000.

Here in L.A. it was legal, but in New York it wasn’t. I was in New York at the time, and I went back and forth, and then I started doing Broadway. I found an agency in Los Angeles, and it was a real process.

Who is the father? Is he involved in their lives?
[Laughs] The father will remain a mystery, but he is a dear friend. They know who he is, but as an involved parent, he doesn’t live here or near, so he’s not involved in that respect.

I imagine as a single mom, you go on dates. How does being a mom influence the men you choose?
Yes, I do. That’s part of the day-to-day challenge. I’m still Taylor Dayne, I’m still me, I’m still a kid in a candy store, and I think you have to take care of the children that are on board. Sometimes you meet quality people and sometimes you don’t. Sometimes you come up short. Interesting, interesting times.

Do you have someone special now?
I’m currently dating. Let’s just put it that way. That’s basically where I am.

What qualities do you look for?
I wish I could say I have a specific thing like the tall, dark and handsome. But that’s not true. I just think a man’s qualities will shine through rather immediately for me.

I like smooth operators who have a sense of humor, certainly a real sense of themselves, a man who knows who they are. I think it’s important that they admire women and like the challenges opposed to saying they like the challenge and at the end of the day, they run away from the challenge of a woman that is intelligent, that can actually speak with them.

Somebody I talked to the other day who was quite beautiful, actually, it was interesting to hear her perspective. She said ‘listen, I don’t want to be their trophy.’ And she’s clear about that. She says ‘I’m looking for the heart. I’m shooting for the heart.’ I know what that means. A lot of people prefer to be the trophy. You vacillate. You still want to maintain your beauty and your grace, you know, but at the same time to be in a relationship in very difficult. There’s a lot of compromise. I’m learning.

I’m not necessarily looking for man who has such-and-such amount of money in their bank and this, that and stuff. A real connection is always key and chemistry and essence has to happen.

What are your kids into these days?

My children are pretty divine. They’re young. They’re blessings, and they always are. They’re precocious, alive, fantastic, thoughtful and every day they’re bringing home something new and different. They’re into hiphop, dance, skateboarding and dance.

What are your hopes for them?
My biggest hope for them is to make sure they are happy, content, peaceful and satisfied and successful people in this world. Give back, and learn how to live fulfilling lives. Feel fulfilled. I like knowing that in their hearts they feel safe, and yet they challenge themselves. That’s what I hope for.

Would you encourage them to go into showbiz?
I would follow their lead because for me, by this time in my life, at age 6, my destiny was mapped out for me. I was doing solos in school already, and I knew. There’s inner dialogue that you have with yourself. I had my destiny, I knew what I wanted. You have to watch, and so if they desire it – and they show interest in it – I’m talking a real interest – sure, I would encourage it.

What advice do you have for Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell, who also have twins?
Oh, Rebecca and Jerry, they’re going to be just fine. They’re going to have a good old time. There’s a lot of love over there. Good nanny, little sleep and they have each other, so it’s a beautiful thing.
