Cover Story: Britney’s Slim-Down Secrets

April 2nd, 2008

It seems miracles really can happen. As the world watched Britney Spears debut last week on How I Met Your Mother, it was obvious that the former pop star was looking good, dare we say it, even back to her old self!

"It looked like Britney had lost 15 pounds in four weeks," a source close to the singer tells OK!. And sure enough — gone was the bloat, the ratty hair and the puffy face. In their place, a slimmer, fresh-faced girl with a smile on her face and determination in her step.

So how did she do it? "Britney’s a pro at losing weight fast," a Spears pal tells OK!. "She can drop seven to 10 pounds in two weeks." Although now, in Britney’s case, it’s about adopting a longterm plan she can stick to. Sources say Brit has given up her old unhealthy weight loss habits, like popping laxatives and diet pills.

The 5-foot-4 singer has also replaced soda and fast food with five, small protein-packed meals a day. Doing so has enabled her to peel off the pounds. "Eating five meals a day will boost your metabolism," Dr. David Katzin of Fresh Diet, a meal delivery program tells OK!. "In fact, by eating superclean, Zone balanced foods at each of your five meals, you will find that your metabolism goes into overdrive, becoming extremely efficient at burning calories."

And get this — Brit’s even cut back on her Starbucks Frappuccino fixes! "Britney used to come in every day. Now she just comes in from time to time and orders a lighter version," a barista at a Malibu Starbucks tells OK!.

To complement her healthier eating habits, Britney works out regularly as well, although you probably won’t see her jogging around her neighborhood. The recovering pop star enjoys daily dance workouts at L.A.’s Millennium Dance Complex, where sources tell OK! she does squats along with chair and pole dancing. When she does run, it’s on a treadmill at home, away from the spying eyes of the paparazzi.

"I don’t like to work out because my legs get bulky," Brit has said. "Dancing makes me leaner."

Whatever it is she likes to do, it definitely seems to be working. Britney finally appears to be back on the road to success!

Britney Wows CBS Producers

At Tuesday’s table reading for her small appearance on the CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother, Britney Spears reportedly made such a good impression with producers that they are now thinking of adding her to the show as a semi-regular cast member.

In the episode, Brit plays the role of Abby, a receptionist at a dermatologist’s office. Her endearing, sweet character falls head over heels in love with Ted (Josh Radnor), who is desperate to have a tattoo removed.

After completing Tuesday’s table reading, Brit heads back to work on Wednesday for rehearsals on the set and costume fittings. The actual episode tapes Friday night in L.A.

Brit Gets a $1500 Per Week Allowance

It was back to court on Monday for all parties involved in the custody/conservatorship case of Britney Spears. The recovering pop singer herself was a no show however, despite the urging of her court appointed attorney, Sam Ingham.

"I have spoken to my client and she’s been inconsistent with her position to attend these hearings," Ingham said on Monday. "The last word I got today was that she was not coming. I would categorize her as unwilling to appear."

Despite her failure to show up to court, the commissioner did agree to grant Brit’s father and co-conservator, Jamie Spears, the authority to issue his daughter a debit/credit card, permitting Britney to spend up to $1,500 of her own money per week — the idea being to enable the former pop star to "enjoy herself and have some freedom of choice," said attorney for the conservators, Geraldine Wyle of Luce-Forward.

Commissioner Goetz also heard two reports today regarding Britney’s mental condition. OK! has confirmed that Sam Ingham gave an oral report on her medical and mental health along with a court appointed physician who submitted a written report.
Sam Ingham was also granted "extended powers" over Brit’s trust.

Commissioner Goetz granted the conservatorship attorneys the amount of $25,000 a month to pay a new lawyer in Miami to handle Britney’s reported legal issues there (she is reportedly having Jive Records audited because she thinks they owe her back pay).

All in all, it was a relatively positive day in court, and despite Britney’s refusal to show (partly due to her disapproval of Ingham as her attorney) commissioner Goetz said, "even though it is clear that Ms. Spears is aware of these hearings and chose not to appear, I am holding this hearing as it is neccessary in her absence to prevent harm to her."

Britney must remain in California until the next conservatorship hearing on July 31, on which date the judge will decide whether or not to extend or dissolve the temporary conservatorship.

Britney on “How I Met Your Mother”

March 10th, 2008

In another move highlighting her continued recovery, Britney Spears is set to make a cameo on the hit CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother.

The show’s rep tells OK!, "We are confirming that Britney will have a guest role on the show this season."

Brit’s scenes will reportedly be with the show’s lead character, Ted. An insider says she will most likely play the role of "Abby," a girl who works in Ted’s doctor’s office and is described as "sweet and friendly and scattered and a little nerdy — a female Michael Cera."

The last time Britney showed up on a TV series was almost exactly two years ago to the month — back when she was pregnant with little Jayden James. In March 2006, the singer appeared on NBC’s hit comedy Will and Grace.
