Hollywood’s hottest dads including Rob Lowe, Jason Bateman, Clive Owen and John Leguizamo are rolling into theaters this fall with a slew of films.
I caught up with them all recently, and got them to dish on those nearest and dearest to their hearts – their kids!

Rob Lowe still has an entire lawsuit to get resolved, but the actor has won a major decision in the case against his former nanny.
TMZ reports that Laura Boyce’s claim that her confidentiality agreement with Rob and his wife was invalid. The Lowe’s former employee tried to argue that it violated her right to freedom of speech. She claimed that Sheryl Lowe walked around naked in front of her and talked about her boyfriend’s penis, a claim the Lowes deny.
Rob wasn’t too happy about her blabbing about his family, so he’s suing the former nanny for breaching that confidentiality agreement. The judge’s decision means that celebrities can still feel safe with their employees who might otherwise sell information about their famous clients.

Brothers & Sisters star Rob Lowe celebrated his 45th birthday at San Ysidro Ranch’s The Stonehouse restaurant in Montecito, Calif. on March 20. Rob Lowe is one of the lucky ones. The Brothers & Sisters star’s home was one of the many threatened in California’s devastating wildfires–and one of the few that were spared.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actor recounts the terrifying moment when he realized his quiet Montecito neighborhood–and his family, were in danger. With just seconds to evacuate, Lowe recalls, "My wife was already out of the house, so I grabbed my boys and our dogs and that was that."
The actor says 100 homes were lost in his neighborhood alone. He credits a change in the wind and local firefighters for saving his.
"We had winds blowing away from our home and had an amazing response from the state and local authorities," he says. "They did a fantastic job when there was no warning.
A fire that started around 6 p.m. last night in the California town of Montecito, a favorite for celebrity homes, has already destroyed 100 homes and a college dormitory as it’s blazed through the neighborhood, according to the Associated Press.
Rob Lowe’s rep tells TMZ that his home hasn’t been hit yet, but that the actor evacuated his family last night. Oprah Winfrey also has a home in the area, about two miles from the blaze, but her rep tells the celebrity website that her house hasn’t been affected yet either.
The AP reports that around 5,400 homes in the area have been evacuated, with 14,000 residents fleeing the flames.
"We believe 100 plus homes have been destroyed," Santa Barbara County Executive Office spokeswoman Nicole Koon tells the AP. "It’s our best guess at the moment because it’s dark. We’re not counting as much as trying to protect the homes."
Montecito is a quiet town that sprung up around Charlie Chaplin’s Montecito Inn, built in the 1920s. The area has a Mediterranean feel, with Spanish-inspired colonial homes and big front yards that have attracted stars like Rob, Oprah and Michael Douglas.
Saturday night seemed more like a Sunday night to me this week, probably because everyone was suffering post-Halloween hangover, both literally and figuratively. Nonetheless, I motivated to head over to the Esquire House for the Hollywood Entertainment Museum’s Legacy Awards honoring brothers Rob and Chad Lowe and the cast of “Heroes.”
When we walked in the $12.5 million Hollywood Hills mansion outfitted as the ultimate bachelor pad I started by giving my friend Amber the tour – since I was there only a week before I had a pretty good lay of the land. When we were in my favorite room, the open-air ‘fitness room’ that consists of pretty much just a Jacuzzi and oversized exercise contraption, we were two of six people in the room – the others being Rob Lowe, a woman who had her back to us and two bodyguards. After I said, “Wow, Rob Lowe is gorgeous,” Amber informed me I’d make the remark loud enough to attract the attention of the security guards we pondered ‘Why would Rob Lowe have two security guys with him at the fairly intimate party anyway?” When the woman turned around and we realized it was Maria Shriver we realized the security wasn’t for him, they were for her.
A few minutes later we walked downstairs just as Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger walked in. Less than 24 hours after the governor made remarks about Barak Obama’s skinny legs, his wife was up on a podium to introduce the brothers Lowe saying her hair was still tangled ‘from being so teased from being Sarah Palin (for Halloween) last night.’ Imagine a political discussion in that household! Shriver went on to say being in the ultimate bachelor pad on a Saturday when she usually spends weekends at home with the kids made her feel like a Desperate Housewife.
When the Lowe brothers hit the stage Chad said something about at one time never wanting to walk in another person’s shadow but then relented that he’s happy to walk in Rob’s shadow, “My best friend, the person I love most in the whole world, my Hollywood Museum.” Sweet. The former husband of Hilary Swank also thanked his new girlfriend Kim. Rob followed by saying Chad’s accolades were “Better than getting the award” and said, “I would get my ass kicked in Dayton Ohio because acting was for sissies but I knew it’s what I really wanted to do.”
