Mel Gibson Boots Judge in Divorce Case

It seems things are going full-steam ahead in Mel Gibson’s divorce case – the star has already vetoed the Hon. Rafael Ongkeko from hearing his case. His lawyer BobKaufman filed papers yesterday to that effect, TMZ reports.

 

Each side in the case is allowed to say no to a judge once, within the first 10 days. Wife Robyn Gibson’s lawyer Laura Wasser has yet to respond in kind.

 

However, due to the high-profile nature of the case, it’s doubtful that the Gibsons will appear in an L.A. County Courthouse. It’s more likely that they’ll get a private judge to hear them out away from all the publicity and attention.

 

Mel’s Mystery Beach Blonde

Is Mel Gibson moving on from his marriage already? Just days after his wife of 28 years, Robyn Gibson, filed for divorce, the Braveheart star was spotted on the beach at his Costa Rican ranch with a mystery blonde, Extra reports.

 

Mel came by helicopter on Monday, looking relaxed in a half-buttoned collared shirt and holding Crocs in his hand.

 

A witness tells Extra, "Mel was laughing and joking. He did not look at all worried or concerned. You would never have guessed he is going through what could be a very expensive divorce."

 

While Mel and the blonde pal had fun, laughing and joking on the sand, Mel seemed to pause for some deep thoughts at one point.

 

And he’s got a lot to think about – the "irreconcilable differences" cited in Robyn’s divorce filing and Mel’s response could see half of his $900 million going to his ex-wife. Yikes. 

Russian Singer Denies Mel Gibson Affair

In any divorce there are bound to be some finger pointing, and Mel Gibson’s divorce from his wife of 28 years, Robyn Gibson, is no different. A few reports have surfaced linking the actor romantically to a Russian singer.

 

However, TMZ reached out to the woman, Oksana Kolesnikova, and got a statement from her rep denying any involvement in the Gibson split. Mel’s already said there’s no truth to that story as well.

 

"Sorry to hear about Mel Gibson’s divorce. Somehow Oksana is being linked to Mr. Gibson, but there are no emotional ties between the two that I am aware of," the statement from Kolesnikova’s rep reads. "Oksana has in the past entertained Mr. Gibson with her piano music as he dined at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Yes, I definitely welcome the opportunity to set the record straight, our Oksana is not romantically involved with Mr. Gibson."

Mel Gibson’s Wife Files for Divorce

UPDATE 5:30 p.m.: TMZ reports that Mel Gibson has filed a response after his wife of 28 years, Robyn Gibson, filed for divorce from him this morning.

Mel’s papers give an exact date for their separation, citing August 26, 2006 as the official day, which is less than a month after his DUI arrest.

Mel Gibson shocked the world in 2006 when he was arrested for a DUI in Malibu and launched into a sexist, anti-Semitic rant while being taken into custody. And now, three years later, wife Robyn Gibson has filed for divorce from her Oscar-winning husband of 28 years!

According to documents posted by TMZ.com, Robyn filed the petition for divorce on April 10, citing "irreconcilable differences." Ironically for devout Catholic Mel, April 10 was Good Friday, the day at the center of his controversial film The Passion of the Christ.

In a statement released to OK!, Mel confirms the split. "Throughout our marriage and separation we have always strived to maintain the privacy and integrity of our family and will continue to do so."

The Gibsons, who married in June 1980, were prodigious parents, giving birth to seven children during the course of the marriage. But only one of the Gibson kids, 9-year-old Tom, stands to be at the center of any future custody feud.

TMZ reports that the couple did not have a prenuptial agreement, so under California law all property and assets will be split evenly, meaning Robyn could end up with as much as a $400-$500 million payday at the end of this.

Robyn is being repped in the divorce by Hollywood’s Queen of A-List Splits, Laura Wasser, who most recently found herself involved in the Britney Spears/Kevin Federline custody battle.

Speaking of Britney, it was Mel who reached out to help her in early 2008 when her life went into a tailspin. The pop star even joined the Gibsons on vacation.

Now it’s Brit’s turn to help Mel out — maybe she can offer him a spot as a dancer on her Circus tour?
