Watch What You Say About Toby Keith!

April 6th, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

Word to the wise: Be careful what you write about country superstar Toby Keith. That’s a lesson one unfortunate reporter learned on Sunday night in Las Vegas, when an irate Toby opened a can of verbal whoop-ass on him in public.

To give you a bit of back-story, actor/director/novelist Ethan Hawke recently wrote a story for Rolling Stone where he detailed an alleged confrontation between country legend Kris Kristofferson and an unidentified singer, who is quite obviously supposed to be Toby. And then the story got picked up in Nashville’s Tennessean newspaper on Friday — a move that apparently hit too close to home for Keith, who took that anger with him into the press room at Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards.

When Peter Cooper, the Tennessean reporter responsible for Friday’s item, opened his mouth to ask Toby a question, there were more fireworks than the Fourth of July!

“You from The Tennessean? You wrote that article?" asked Toby of the reporter. "You thought that was funny — calling me Moby Teeth? You better watch yourself.”

Witnesses inside the press room tell OK! that Cooper stumbled to answer the questions, but Toby just kept rolling attacking the writer for trying to paint him as the unnamed person in the original story.

“You thought you could dance around it — funny ha-ha – but it was me. Who else wrote a song about bombing enemies? Who else does car commercials?" As for the man behind the Rolling Stone item, he added, "You think Ethan Hawke knows me? You think Ethan Hawke can sing a chorus to one of my songs? Or one of my 62 million spins? Doubt it! So you took the story and you Moby Teethed it and took it to another level."

Attacking Cooper with endless streams of F-bombs, Toby pointed out that Kristofferson has come out in the singer’s defense. "You think Kris Kristofferson motherf***d me? Kris Kristofferson said that sh** didn’t happen. He e-mailed Rolling Stone and said that shit didn’t happen. And you still wrote your story?

“Who supersized the story? You take credit for that?" he continued, grilling Cooper even more. "You and Ethan Hawke are guilty. He doesn’t know me, that di*k didn’t call me [to] ask me what I thought.”

Refusing to let the issue die, he continued, "I’m struggling being here with you in the room. You ran it and took it to supersize French fries and now you have to answer for it."

Glaring at his prey, Toby declared, "You’ve never sh*t in your f-ing ass like you have right now. Do you want to ask me another question?" To which Cooper wisely shook his head "No."

Toby’s tirade had the ACM press room at a standstill. "You could hear a pin drop," one witness tells OK!. "It looked like Toby was going to knock the crap out of Cooper, who looked horrified!"

And, according to another source, that was Toby’s goal all along. The insider explains that the outspoken star had talked on Saturday night about looking forward to the chance to have it out with Cooper at the awards.

Looks like he got his wish.

Brad Pitt: It’s All About Family

December 10th, 2008

Brad Pitt could be doing any number of things with his life right now, but for the star of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, there’s only one thing on his mind: his family with Angelina Jolie.

"I have this fantasy of my older days, painting or sculpting or making things," he tells Rolling Stone in a new interview. "I have this fantasy of a bike trip to Chile. I have this fantasy of flying into Morocco. But right now, more and more, it’s about getting the work done and getting home to family. I have an adventure every morning, getting up."

Work hasn’t always been colored by commercial or critical success for Brad, with a string of duds like Meet Joe Black and The Devil’s Own in the late ’90s—a fact he’ll openly admit.

"I got lost in the wilderness of fame a bit," he says. "There are all of these opportunities you’re supposed to be taking. And I got really discombobulated."

"I normally need my kids to do this," he mutters, as he attempts to connect my iPod into his stereo. "They’re so beyond me in technology, it’s hard to keep up. Our seven-year-old was searching the word ‘weapons’ on Google the other day and ended up on some white-supremacist site. I’m sure now we’re on all kinds of watch lists."

But the busy dad is excited about his latest film, which sees him aging backwards from an old man to a baby.

"I find Benjamin is about those universal things we all share — that 95 percent that makes us all the same, wherever we are in the world," he reveals. "Our loves, our hopes, but also the loss that we all walk around with and hide very well, and the ultimate notion that we’re all expendable. To me, it’s a counterstatement to this divisive period we’ve been in, where we focused on the two, three, four, five percent of ways in which we’re different."

Britney: Scary to Put Yourself Out There

November 25th, 2008

The return of Britney Spears, back from the edge of tragedy, has been building in momentum for months now, and the image of her healthy and glowing on the cover of the new Rolling Stone is just one more strong reminder that she truly is back.

This cover and story is in stark contrast to her last one, an article chronicling the tragic downturn her career and personal life had taken. The pop star seems to be back to her old self.

"I feel like an old person now," she says in the interview. "I do! I go to bed at, like, 9:30 every night, and I don’t go out or anything, you know what I mean? I just feel like an old fart."

Old fart or not, the Britster is definitely going for it full force with her new album Circus, as well as a 90-minute documentary on MTV, set to air Nov. 30.

"It’s scary to put yourself out there and be like, ‘Oh, God, is that cool?’ If you’re not going to really go for it, you can’t just go there halfway.," she reveals. "But sometimes, when you go for it, you can’t lose."

Her life these days isn’t all about engineering her return to the pop scene, however, as she’s spending more and more time with her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, whom she lost custody of earlier this year to ex-husband Kevin Federline.

"Every time they come to visit me, I think about how they’re such special people," she says. "Like, they’re going to preschool now! I went there to pick them up on Friday, and seeing them in their little classroom and seeing Jayden being bad or not listening? It’s like, those are mine, and it’s just crazy, you know what I mean? And the things that are coming out of their mouths right now — they’re learning so much, and it’s new, and you never know what they’re going to say, and they’re so smart yet so innocent."

Being away from her boys is the toughest thing for Brit, and she seems determined to hold onto them this time.

"I didn’t think my husband was gonna leave me," she confesses in the interview. "Otherwise, I’d be with my babies 24/7. But since they’re almost like twins, they both take care of each other. I think they look like me. They don’t look like their father at all," she continues. "And it’s weird ’cause they’re starting to learn words like ’stupid,’ and Preston says the f-word now sometimes. He doesn’t get it from us. He must get it from his daddy. I say it, but not around my kids."

Kid Rock: Pam Lied About Miscarriage

October 4th, 2007

While Pam Anderson is busy preparing to marry "poker player" porn star Rick Salomon, her most recent husband, Kid Rock, is claiming that the miscarriage that is rumored to be the reason they ended their marriage after only a few months was, in fact, a lie.

According to an interview in Rolling Stone, the blonde Baywatch babe, who was filming a movie in Vancouver, Canada, at the time, used the miscarriage as a way to lure him away from his good-time life in L.A. and to her side. "When I get there, she’s partying at this restaurant, drinking
champagne, jumping on the tables. I’m thinking, ‘That’s a quick
recovery from a miscarriage.’ ”

Meanwhile, Pam recently had some words of her own for her ex on her site. "He’s bitter," the 41-year-old writes in her online diary. "It’s sad to see." Though Pam does go on to say "I don’t want to battle with him. I wish him the best."

OK! Exclusive: Britney’s Sexy Secret Plan Revealed

September 14th, 2007 / Author: cwillett

Unless you’ve been vacationing under a particularly large bit of stone this past week, you’ve seen, read about and likely expressed your opinion about Britney Spears‘ disastrous performance at last Sunday’s Video Music Awards. Even if you’ve managed to avoid this particular bit of news, you’re certainly aware of the beleaguered pop star’s year of divorce, partying, rehab, head-shaving, more rehab and custody battles. Of course, the one person who knows best about all the negative news is Britney herself.

So what is this former champion of the charts doing to lift herself out of her current abyss? "Brit’s in damage control mode now. She’s been talking to the folks at Maxim about doing a photo shoot," a friend of the pop princess tells OK! exclusively, referring to the popular men’s magazine that has been a career-boosting showcase for celebrities like Jessica Alba and Eva Longoria. "She wants to be on the cover as quickly as they can shoot her."

Britney’s decision to go for men’s magazine cover stardom is based solely on her past success with selling herself as an object of desire. "It’s worked for her since the video for ‘Baby One More Time,’ " an industry insider explains to OK!. "The last thing she did that really reminded America of her allure was her sexy Rolling Stone cover from October 2003, so the idea of another high-profile cover is completely logical."

And considering that Lindsay Lohan, the only celeb in Brit’s age range who could argue for having had a worse 2007, was the unlikely choice to top Maxim’s Hot 100 list this year (Britney didn’t make the cut), she sees the magazine as being a welcoming place for her right now. "She sits around reading Maxim all the time," the friend reveals to OK!.

Of course, if Maxim does decide to go ahead with the shoot, OK! would like to remind them of the complete meltdowns she experienced at the planned fashion shoot for the pages of our magazine.

Let’s just say… keep her dog away from any pricey designer clothes.
