90210 Storyline Scoop!

November 18th, 2008

There’s been plenty of talk of what ailment Brenda played by 90210 original Shannen Doherty – who returns for the show’s midseason finale tonight – will suffer from when she’s back in the halls of West Beverly Hills High. Is she lying in that hospital bed dying? Not quite.

The TV Fanatic has learned it’s much worse. Sources close the series have revealed to me that Brenda has fertility issues and won’t be able to have kids, though the official CW comment is that fans will have to wait until the show returns Jan. 6 to find out.

Well, if anything, Kelly can take comfort in the knowledge that there’s no way Brenda, who confessed she slept with hot-for-teacher Ryan Matthews in last week’s episode teaser, can be pregnant with his baby. That’s got to be mildly reassuring.

Not really.

Shannen Doherty: Bad Girl No More

November 17th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

Former bad girl Shannen Doherty has a new outlook on old pals, thanks to her turn on the CW’s revamped 90210.

The 37-year-old actress, who recently crashed at the W hotel’s $4,000-a-night Extreme WOW Suite in NYC while hunting for apartments, revealed to OK! what she loves most
about reprising her role as Brenda Walsh on the TV hit.

“Working with Jennie [Garth] this time around has been unbelievable,” Shannen tells
OK!. “I regard her as a true friend.”

Shannen admits that unlike in the past when the pair was rumored to have fought, she now looks forward to acting with Jennie, aka Kelly Taylor.

“Our scenes are always really good. We work really well together, and we just like each other,” she says. "People come to different places in their lives, and you meet up,” she says of her change of heart. “Suddenly, it’s like, ‘Oh, my god. I like you!’ ”

Lori Loughlin: Bring Back Luke Perry!

October 27th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

Full House star Lori Loughlin assures OK! the set of hot TV drama 90210 is a conflict-free zone — even with Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth! Lori, 44, is married with two daughters, Isabella Rose and Olivia Jade, and spoke to OK! at the launch of the Lunchables Million Page Mission, which aims to get kids reading.

Have you worked with the 90210 veterans?

I haven’t worked with Jennie Garth or Shannen Doherty, but I’ve seen them around. They’re great. There’s no conflict.

Will others from the original cast appear?
There’s always hope. If I could choose one person to come back, it would be Luke Perry. Dylan belongs with Kelly!

What are the young cast members like?

They’re immensely talented and have their feet on the ground. I was not that mature when I was their age.

Do you keep up with the Olsen twins?
I get updates from Bob Saget and John Stamos, and in recent photo shoots, I’ve worn pieces from their clothing line. I put it on, read the tag and got excited. I said, “Oh, my goodness! That’s so funny!”

Are you dressing up for Halloween?

My kids won’t let me dress up any more. One year, I wore a blonde afro wig, hippie
pants and love beads and they were mortified. Now they refuse to go out trick-or-treating with me if I dress up.

How did you get involved with the Lunchables Million Page Mission?

I’ve always been an advocate of reading to your children. I’ve been reading to my girls since they were babies, and I still do – it’s one of my greatest joys.

Adam & Jessica: 9021-Oohh!

October 20th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

L.A.’s sexiest zip code just got a little steamier in real life!

90210 stars Adam Gregory, 20, and Jessica Lowndes, 19, flaunted their young love while shopping at L.A.’s Intuition on Oct. 7.  Ohio native Adam tells OK! that he loves girls who are "smart, intellingent, fun and who are happy to wear sweats and watch a game."

Hmm, quite the opposite of the characters they play on 90210, but then again, Adam is a midwestern boy!  Better start brushing up on those Bengals Jessica!

Meanwhile, Jessica, who plays drug-addicted drama student Adriana on 90210, recently discussed her character’s upcoming confrontation with Brenda Walsh, a.k.a Shannen Doherty.

"I’ve got a lot of emotional, confrontational scenes with Shannen coming up," she said, adding that her character’s addiction will become more intense as Adriana becomes crazier, requiring a verbal smackdown from Brenda.

When it comes to playing such a rough character, Jessica says, "Adriana is really into the drugs right now, and the people at Coffee Bean keep asking me why I’m taking so many shots of espresso.  I’m doing it for my character!"

Shannen’s Back in Beverly Hills!

October 15th, 2008

Get excited, Brenda Walsh fans: OK! can confirm Shannen Doherty has signed on to do more 90210!

“She is back for episodes 11 and 12,” a rep for the hit CW show tells OK!.

The star who made Brenda famous on the original ‘90s Beverly Hills 90210 has electrified fans of the current remake on the CW, returning to the popular zip code earlier this season along with fellow Beverly Hills alum Jennie Garth.

Shannen plays a grown a grown-up version of her old character, an actress who comes back to West Beverly Hills High School as the drama teacher. Originally the star was only slated to appear in a few epsiodes, but fans have been crying out for more.

“I’ve worked for 27 years, steadily, thanks to very loyal fans," she said recently. "What’s the one way to say thank you? To play a character that you thought you’d never play again in the one show they want to see.”

Thanks, Shannen!

Shannen: 90210 Has No Luck With Luke

September 25th, 2008

When it became official that Dylan McKay knocked up Kelly Taylor, rumors swirled that the new 90210 may get a visit from fan-favorite Luke Perry. Without trying to step in the middle of the Dylan-Kelly relationship like she did in the old days, Brenda, er, Shannen Doherty says it’s not happening.

“I heard today that he emphatically said no,” Doherty tells OK! at the Rock Band 2 on Xbox 360 launch party at the old 90210 beach house in Hermosa Beach, California.

The actress who just completed her four-episode stint know just how writers can work around Luke’s absence.

“[Kelly Taylor] can be a single mom,” she says. “He’s out of her life, maybe she goes and visits him and comes back and says ‘I want to raise this child on my own.’

Now that her run is over (although she says there is a chance she may return) Doherty is sticking to video games.

“I’m a huge fan,” she says of Rock Band 2. “ I don’t really like to go out anymore, and I live by the beach so all my friends come to my house for the weekend. This is what we do. We’re dorks. We love it and we play our XBOX 360 and just jam.”

TV HUNK DISCOVERED: Adam Gregory

September 23rd, 2008

If Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty aren’t enough reason to tune into the new 90210, here’s another: Adam Gregory.

The 20-year-old actor plays Ty Collins, the hottie Annie snagged for a date during her first week at West Beverly Hills High. (If only all high school transplant dating stories went like that!)

I rang up Adam to find out about his new TV role and just how much of the award-winning musical Spring Awakening the school’s drama club will act out on our screens tonight. (According to Adam, it’s a lot!)

Tell me a little about Ty.
The background on him is he’s the rich mysterious guy at school all the girls wish they could date. He leaves lot a girls broken-hearted.

Really? Annie should watch out then.
But he’s kind-hearted. He opens up a lot of his heart.

Tonight is the high school’s opening night of Spring Awakening.
You’re going to see a few different scenes from the musical, which is pretty cool.

Are you a singer in real life?
I studied musical theater in college. I’m not great, but I’m not bad. I hold my own.

What musicals did you star in?
I was Marius in Les Mis. I did South Pacific and a bunch of classics.

On their first date, Ty flew Annie to San Francisco. What’s the most extravagant thing you’ve done for a girl?
For a girlfriend I had back in Ohio, I laid out all these different mementos to celebrate our anniversary.

Do you have a girlfriend now?
I am single.

What type of girl do you like?
Just a smart, intelligent, fun, charismatic and spontaneous woman. Someone who would wear some sweats, that be would nice.

A girl who doesn’t mind chillin’ in sweat pants? Time to get our own transfer to West Beverly Hills High!

Catch 90210 on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
