Robert Downey, Jr. & ScarJo Get Fit for Iron Man 2

April 3rd, 2009

Sure, Iron Man may have saved the world, but more importantly, he’s whipped two of Hollywood’s hottest hotties into amazing shape.

The star of last summer’s hit movie, Robert Downey, Jr., told Entertainment Tonight that he is being forced to transform from the "skinny Brit" he plays in Sherlock Holmes into the "Beefcake Charlie" he plays in the second installment of the super-hero flick, tentatively set for release in the spring of 2010

And not only that, but he reports that his Iron Man 2 co-star Scarlett Johansson is also in "insane shape" for the sequel.

"We’ve been rehearsing and she’s in insane shape. She’s getting lean and mean," he said of the new Mrs. Reynolds, who will play femme fatale Black Widow in the second installment.

As for RDJ himself, he’s now on a diet that while change his physique from Sherlock’s helper, Watson, into Iron Man alter-ego Tony Stark.

"I’m on Beefcake Charlie status," he jokes. "I’ve got to not be the skinny Brit anymore. I have to be the Tony that you know and may have loved," he told the show during and interview about his latest film, The Soloist.

Guy Ritchie’s Reshooting Woes

February 18th, 2009

All seemed to be going well for Guy Ritchie after his divorce from Madonna – he was seen out and about palling around with his Sherlock Holmes stars Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr., and looked pretty happy.

But now Britain’s The Sun is reporting that all is not well in the land of movies for the director. The man behind RocknRolla was seen "fuming" after being told he had to reshoot five weeks’ worth of scenes for his Sherlock Holmes flick. Studio chiefs at Warner Bros. apparently told Guy that one scene was even "ridiculously unrealistic."

One insider tells the paper that the big divorce from Madge distracted Guy on set. Now, call us superstitious, but this definitely sounds like the Curse of Madonna! Hopefully the director can bounce back, as the source adds, “It’s disastrous news, but Guy has promised to fix it.”

Paris: No Plastic Surgery For Me

November 4th, 2008

While Paris Hilton might play a plastic-surgery craving heiress in her new movie Repo: The Genetic Opera, the real-life celebutante says she’s never gone under the knife.

“I love being all-natural,” Paris tells The Daily Beast, adding that those who choose plastic surgery don’t necessarily improve their looks. “They make themselves look older. A lot of girls who are 21, they have a lot of work done and they look 40. It ages you. And you’re going to have to maintain it. By the time you’re 30, you’re going to look like you’re 50. By the time you’re 50, your face is going to fall off.”

Speaking of faces falling off, the socialite and reality TV maven is no stranger to that experience – dramatically speaking, of course, for her role as Amber Sweet in Repo

“Probably the hardest scene to film was when my face falls off," she confesses. "I felt like Freddy Krueger. I looked in the mirror and was like, ‘Ew.’ It was gross.”

As for rumors that she’d be sharing the silver screen in a non-gross way with Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes flick, Paris denies that she’s had any involvement.

“I met him at his little pub in London, called The Punch Bowl,” she says of Madonna’s ex. “He’s very nice. And then all of a sudden there’s some quote in a paper saying that I’m going to be in the Sherlock Holmes movie. I didn’t even know there was a Sherlock Holmes movie and I never said that.”

Madonna & Guy: Moving On

October 30th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

As further details emerge about Madonna and Guy Ritchie’s increasingly bitter divorce proceedings, the exes are finding support in very different areas. While the Material Mom attended NYC’s Kabbalah Centre with children Lourdes, 12, Rocco, 8, and David, 3, on Oct. 25, Guy happily posed with fans outside a Manchester, UK, hotel before letting his hair down over dinner at Stock with celebrity pals Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.

Just two days earlier, Guy partied at London’s White Cube gallery with Jude and Robert, who are both starring in Guy’s new movie, Sherlock Holmes.

“They were in a silly, goofy mood,” an onlooker tells OK!. “It was a guys’ night out, and Guy didn’t look one bit upset.”

Madonna, 50, also found time for some fun, taking her kids to Manhattan’s Chelsea Piers gym on Oct. 20 to play on the trampolines, followed by an Oct. 21 helicopter ride over NYC for Rocco and David.

Guy may be staying far away from his ex, but Madonna’s new man, Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez, is rumored to be looking at $80-million apartments just two blocks from the singer on NYC’s Upper West Side.

Madonna Dresses Rocco in Yankee Blue

October 23rd, 2008

Tongues were wagging on Monday when Rocco Ritchie, Madonna and Guy Ritchie’s son, went out and about in NYC wearing a Yankees T-shirt. And Guy definitely noticed.

The film director and his pop diva wife just recently announced they were splitting after months of speculation over the state of their marriage and rumors of an affair between New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez, so Madonna’s decision to dress Rocco in that particular shirt on Monday could be seen as a direct insult to Guy.

He’s reportedly "in pieces" about it, and has even been crying over it while trying to continue work on the set of his new Sherlock Holmes movie.

Luckily for Guy, there could be someone on set to help him dry those tears – pretty 31-year-old redhead Kelly Reilly, who’s starring in the new movie. Rumors have been swirling that two have become quite close during filming and have even started dating.

Russell Crowe: My Children Tamed Me

September 30th, 2008

Forget the image of an angry, hot-tempered man ready to fight anyone, Russell Crowe says he’s changed, and his children are partly responsible for taming his wild ways.

"The drinking thing has sort of taken a different place in my life since I had kids," he tells Extra of his two boys with wife Danielle, Charles and Tennyson.

"There’s a whole lot of things I don’t do anymore because it affects my level of patience," he adds. "I don’t want to be in that place where I’m exasperated with these beautiful children."

And although he’s been the brunt of a few fat jokes lately as his former Gladiator body appeared to have been expanding, Russell reveals that the extra poundage was all for a role in his upcoming film Body of Lies, in theaters Oct. 10.

"It’s a substantial amount!" he says of the 63 pounds he packed on by eating cupcakes and other fatty foods. He adds that a typical day for him could start with "I’ll have the cheeseburger for breakfast, thank you."

Other rumors surrounding the actor have him working with Guy Ritchie for his upcoming Sherlock Holmes flick; however Russell says the hype isn’t true… for now.

"I’m really interested in working with Guy Ritchie," he tells Extra." I think he’s a stylish filmmaker."

Holmes Sweet Holmes for Robert Downey Jr.

July 10th, 2008

Fresh off his $300 million turn as Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr. is ready to fight more crime, this time as another literary character — Sherlock Holmes.

Warner Bros. has tapped the actor to star in its forthcoming eponymous mystery drama as the world’s most famous detective. The film will also be based on a new comic book about Holmes by Lionel Wigram, one of the flick’s producers.

Guy Ritchie is slated to direct, with production commencing in October.

Robert didn’t have much competition at the box office when Iron Man steamrolled to No. 1, but he may have to do battle with another very, very similar film to get to the top with Sherlock Holmes.

Last week, Columbia Pictures announced their own Holmes project, reteaming Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby stars Will Ferrell and Sacha Baron Cohen. The as-yet-untitled film will feature Borat, er, Sacha as Sherlock and Will as sidekick Dr. Watson.

Borat, Meet Sherlock Holmes

July 2nd, 2008

Sacha Baron Cohen will trim his legendary Borat mustache into a more refined bit of facial hair, don a pipe and spectacles for the upcoming film about fictional English sleuth Sherlock Holmes. Will Ferrell will play his loyal sidekick Watson.

It’s the second time around for the two actors, who first starred together in the 2006 auto racing spoof Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.

The not yet titled Sherlock film will be based on the principal characters created by Scottish-born author and physician Arthur Conan Doyle in the late 19th century.

The character of Holmes, a straight-laced english gentleman with an uncanny knack for solving crimes, seems like a stretch for Cohen, who although was educated at England’s Cambridge University, has risen to fame playing boorish, irreverant characters such as Borat, ali G and Bruno.

Columbia Pictures says its confident the two actors will breathe new life into the roles.

"Just the idea of Sacha and Will as Sherlock Holmes and Watson makes us laugh," Columbia Pictures co-president Matt Tolmach said in a statement obtained by Reuters on Wednesday.
