Becks: “Posh Is the Funny One”

April 2nd, 2008 / Author: cwillett

Though she’s often portrayed as the cold, materialistic character she plays as Posh Spice in the Spice Girls, Victoria Beckham’s hubby David Beckham says she’s actually got quite the sense of humor.

“She’s the funny one in the family,” the soccer stud confessed during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Tuesday, before adding that he was worried about doing the interview because, “I’m really not funny.”

That being said, the handsome L.A. Galaxy guy had the Tonight Show crowd laughing plenty as he rattled off stories of everything about how he and Posh first met — “I like to say she was stalking me,” he told Jay — to how his youngest son Cruz has recently become obsessed with breakdancing. “From the moment he wakes up, he’s spinning on his head,” he explained.

Jay also touched on the touchy topic of David’s revealing Armani ads, which feature him in not much more than a pair of skimpy white briefs. “I was so nervous about doing that,” David recalled. “My wife and friends are going to see it.” As for his parents’ reaction, he says his mother was less than thrilled, but “luckily I’ve not been in the car with her when we drove past one of the billboards.”

David Beckham Plays Historic Soccer Match

March 26th, 2008

On a historic Wednesday night, soccer star David Beckham took the field in France to play his 100th match with England’s National Team, making him only the fifth player to ever achieve the triple figure.

With his wife, Victoria Beckham, his three sons and the entire Beckham clan watching from the stands, David, 32, took to the field at the beginning of the game around 9 p.m. local time, wearing golden boots to mark the match.

"David was so excited to play," a close pal said. "He is still enthusiastic and has a great passion for playing for his country."

Around 38 minutes into the match, Beckham received a yellow card warning for an infraction against the French team. Later, with France leading 1-0, Beckham was substituted out by the team manager, but not before leaving the field to a standing ovation from the crowd.

Although England lost 1-0, Beckham came back out onto the field following the game to applaud the fans.

The entire Beckham clan was expected to celebrate in Paris with a private dinner for the family after the match. But then it’s back to business as usual. Beckham’s first match of the season with the L.A. Galaxy will be on Saturday in Denver, Colo.

Has the Beckhams’ Bubble Burst?

Just eight months ago, David Beckham and wife Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham were the toast of the town at a dazzling "Welcome to L.A." party held by new pals Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. But sources are telling OK! that they might be waking up from their American dream sooner than expected.

"David is very close to his family and would much rather be living in the UK," a source close to the couple tells OK!. "A lot of things haven’t gone the way they thought it would." The insider adds that there are whispers that the soccer stud would be very happy if someone bought out his contract with his current team, the L.A. Galaxy.

Meanwhile, it looks like Posh might be pushing to stay in La-La Land a little bit longer. Just this past weekend, while David was off in Asia on a promotional tour with the Galaxy, Victoria made the most of her Hollywood connections, grabbing dinner first with Eva Longoria and Kate Beckinsale at STK on Friday and then with Tom and Katie at Madeo on Sunday night.

"They couldn’t be happier here," the pop star’s rep Cheryl Maisel tells OK!. "They aren’t having second thoughts." Meanwhile, David’s rep gives a briefer (and perhaps more revealing) summary of the Beckhams’ situation, saying, "He is here to fulfill his contract."
