Christina Aguilera: Ready for Baby #2!
December 4th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff
When asked what was the last thing her son Max did to surprise her, Christina Aguilera smiles and says, “He’s a bundle of amazing surprises!” The star, who turns 28 on Dec. 18, and her husband, Jordan Bratman, want to add to their family because she says becoming a mom has been such a great experience. Christina, whose greatest hits album Keeps Gettin’ Better is being sold exclusively at Target and target.com, spoke to OK! about her son, Max, who turns 1 in January.
Any plans for a sibling for Max?
I hope so. We definitely want to have another child. Having Max has been an amazing experience. He surprises e every day. In a year, he has grown so much, now he crawls and is starting to walk.
What makes your marriage work?
I have the most wonderful partner in Jordan. We make it a priority to work on our marriage. You have to take it seriously and respect each other and be a team. We always have date nights as well — it helps to keep the marriage alive after you have kids. My husband and I love to play board games together!
What advice would you give to the 20-year-old Christina?
I would have told myself that anything is possible because it is. Also, work hard and trust your instincts.
Why did you decide to exclusively sell your album at Target?
I had worked with Target in the past and I really loved the fact that they listened to me as an artist. I am very particular with my album, from the music to the photos to the ads. Target really allowed me to give my input and put my stamp on the campaign. I shared with them what my inspiration was and they let me run with it.
You’ve collaborated with Madonna before. She’s another working mom, has she inspired you?
For so many years she has been such a great business woman and a model-type that broke so many boundaries and stereotypes for women, in this business in particular. She was the queen of criticism for her day and age and thank God she was the first to bare it all and she keeps going, so I support her 100 percent. She’s a mom of three and still doing it, on tour. I’m having trouble gearing up for my tour just thinking about how it’s going to be for Max, but we’re a traveling family and that’s just the way it’s going to be.
Do you get nervous before you perform?
I think any good performer does as we want to give it our all for our fans. The biggest worry is living up to the fans expectations. But once you are on stage you let the adrenaline kick in.
What’s your favorite song to sing live?
You can’t ask me to pick — it’s like asking which child is your favorite! They are
all very special to me. “Genie in a Bottle” was my break into mainstream, so I hold a place for it. And I think “Beautiful” is such an inspirational ballad.
If you had a genie in a bottle, like your song said, what would you wish for?
You know what, looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing. I am really blessed.

Kelly Preston Goes On the Record
May 8th, 2008
Kelly Preston is opening up about what makes her 17- year marriage to John Travolta tick, and why she chooses not to live in the vortex of Hollywood.
"We don’t really live in L.A.," Preston tells Extra. "We live in Florida. We’ve got our kids, do a lot of very normal things there. We ride golf carts, swim, rollerblade…We try to keep the family together as much as humanly possible."
The Jerry Maguire star admits to having quite the shopping obession. "I love Target! I’m telling you, they have so many great things," she gushes. "Kirstie Alley’s one of my best friends and we’ve gone in there and walked out with two shopping carts a piece. It’s crazy. It’s bad."
Despite their low-key lifestyle in Florida, it’s no secret that Kelly’s still one half of a major Hollywood superstar couple. But the actress says when it comes to their careers, she and Travolta are on the same page.
"There’s no competition at all," she says. "I married one of the biggest movie stars in the world. To even think about that would be silly. I’m so proud of him. He’s the greatest."
So has their parents’ fame affected the couple’s kids, Ella and Jett? "They think it’s normal," Kelly says. "They’ve grown up on sets. They’ve traveled with us all over the world shooting different locations. They’re very much used to it."
Kelly says the acting bug has already bitten 8-year old daughter Ella. "Ella, Johnny and I just did a movie together that’ll be out next year called Old Dogs," she explains. "We shot with Robin Williams. Had the best time."
The actress says she’s not worried about her daughter being exposed to Hollywood’s negative influences because, "It’s all about choices. About instilling values…We don’t do drugs, I don’t drink. Johnny doesn’t really drink so she’s not around a lot of that, so I don’t think she’ll be as tempted to fall into that…She’s an amazing kid.
Preston, who is perhaps best known for her on-screen love scene in Jerry Maguire with good friend Tom Cruise, dishes on what it was like to shoot that scene.
"There’s always awkwardness!…But he’s a pro. I’m a pro. It was a completely closed set, very well written, shot fast," she reveals.
Kelly defends her friend’s infamous couch jumping stunt on Oprah, saying, "To be honest, I felt sad that I live in a society where we can’t show pure joy if you’re excited. He’s passionate, so he showed some unbridled emotion. Good for him. It was just spun out of control."
Extra’s interview with Kelly Preston airs on Monday, May 12.
Issac and Mossimo Target Hot Holiday Styles
November 26th, 2007 / Author: OK! Staff
At the Modeless Fashion show for Target, OK! spoke to Issac Mizrahi and Mossimo who had cold weather on the brain.
With the holidays hot on our heels, OK! had to know what these legendary designers had in mind for dressing for the holiday season. Mossimo suggested, “Sort of glamorous. A nod to luxury. Very clean.”
Also on his list of must-haves “women’s wear that is fairly men’s wear inspired. A lot of outer wear. A lot of texture in fabric.”
Meanwhile, Issac Mizrahi couldn’t really nail it down for OK! “It’s a very broad and varied thing. I can’t really say one style. Like the holiday collection needs to be seasonless and the right weight that it can move into spring.”
This is the best tip by far: “For me, fashion is something that should be acceptable and should be inexpensive.”
