THANKFUL TV WISHES

November 26th, 2008

As I get ready to slip into my turkey day food coma overload, I’m so thankful that I have my family, friends and my DVR remote not too far behind. Just some of the things I’m grateful for this TV week:

That The Fray preformed their latest release “You Found Me” on the 2008 American Music Awards this past Sunday (weren’t they cute in matching outfits from SEW menswear boutique in NYC! ), and I finally put together that the band behind the awesome ditty “How to Save To Save a Life” is rocking their new single in the Lost promo videos. Look for the show to return to ABC Jan 21.

That Model mama Tyra Banks and Project Runway winner Christian Siriano are behind NBC’s Biggest Loser 6 contestant makeovers, which airs Tuesday, Dec. 2. Christian and I both get our hair coifed at Shampoo Salon in NYC’s East Village, so I must be fierce by association!

That Travis Fimmel, who didn’t say or wear much in the short-lived series Tarzan back in 2003, is returning to TV in The Beast opposite a miraculously healing Patrick Swayze beginning Jan. 15 on A&E. Hopefully, Travis will have the same wardrobe from his former series!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving, fellow fanatics!

Beyonce Talks About Getting Justin into Tights

November 19th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

In just a handful of Saturday Night Live appearances, Justin Timberlake has already made more memorable moments than many A-list actors who’ve headlined the long-running sketch comedy show.

The latest water-cooler skit featuring JT aired last Saturday, when a leotard-clad Justin appeared as part of an all-male trio attempting to film a Beyoncé video, much to the displeasure of the superstar singer, who was the episode’s featured musical guest.

So when OK! caught up with Beyoncé at Tuesday night’s party in NYC for Gotham magazine, everyone just had to know: How did they convince Justin to do the skit?

"Justin actually came by, he just happened to be in town," explained Beyoncé, whose new album, I am… Sasha Fierce was released yesterday. "They talked to me about this skit. And I said, you know I’m not sure if I want to do it because I have to hone my performance, but the moment they called and said Justin Timberlake is going to be a part of this, I said I have to do this. He is hilarious, I’m so grateful, we had the best time; it was so difficult to not laugh."

Another person who Beyonce admires is President-elect Barack Obama. And, she said on Monday, you can look for her at his inauguration ceremony in D.C. in January.

"I know I’m definitely going to be there, I want to be there with him," she said. "I’m not sure if I’ll be performing, but I’d love to."

Until then, the newlywed singer has the holidays to look forward to. And for Beyoncé, that means some good home cooking with her family.

"For Thanksgiving my mother usually cooks," says Beyoncé. "It’s just like anyone else’s Thanksgiving. It’s actually my favorite holiday because it’s not about anything but giving back, giving thanks for all our blessings. Hopefully I’ll try to make some type of pie, I’m not the best cook, but I think I’m ready to try something."

Cheetah Girls Dropped from Macy’s Parade

November 18th, 2008

In the wake of recent news that naughty photos of Cheetah Girl Adrienne Bailon had made their way onto the internet, OK! has confirmed that the Disney pop trio is no longer slated to be a part of a huge holiday tradition — the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade in NYC.

Of course, while we’re hearing that it is indeed the nude pix of Adrienne that have removed the Cheetahs from Macy’s roll call of superstars for next week’s parade, the official line from the department store tells a different story.

"Performer confirmations are always fluid and subject to change for any live event," a rep for Macy’s tells OK! in a statement. "In fact we just received confirmations of three new acts this week. The Cheetah Girls were scheduled to appear in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, but due to scheduling issues they could not make it."

Yeah… scheduling conflicts. Because they had something to do on Thanksgiving other than make a high-profile appearance on a parade that is watched by millions of people around the world.

Miley to Perform During Macy’s Parade

November 5th, 2008

Everyone knows the real star on Thanksgiving is that most delicious of stuffed, sleep-inducing birds – the turkey, of course – but Macy’s has also added a few other attractions to distract you from football this year.

The usual helium-filled cartoon balloons will waft down Broadway in NYC on Nov. 27 in the 82nd Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, but keep one eye on the sky and the other on the floats for a string of celebrity performers.

Tweens everywhere are sure to be thankful that Miley Cyrus tops the list of performers who will entertain paradegoers and those watching on TV during the live broadcast.

David Archuleta, Kristen Chenoweth, James Taylor, the Cheetah Girls, Darius Rucker and Trace Adkins will also perform live during the parade, along with 900 clowns. The festivities will start at 9 a.m. ET and continue on until noon, hosted by Today show hosts Meredith Vieira, Matt Lauer and Al Roker.

OK! Interview: Avril Lavigne

November 21st, 2007 / Author: cwillett

Singer Avril Lavigne revealed her husband, musician Deryck
Whibley
, is spending the holidays writing songs while he’s recuperating at
home.

“He’s been writing songs a little bit right now at the house
because he hurt his back so he has to stay at home,” Avril told OK! after
performing on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars results show last night.

“He had to cancel his tour.
I’ll walk in the room and be like, ‘I think you should do this’ and then
walk out,” she added. “That’s kind of the cool thing about doing the same
thing. We can always give advice and be
there for each other.”

While looking after Deryck, whom she married in July 2006,
Avril’s also planning a big holiday season. “I’m going to be entertaining this year. I’ll be the host and having all my family
over and cooking and everything,” she said.

Avril said of her best dish: “I make really good butternut
squash. I put it in the oven with
rosemary, brown sugar and honey on it.
But if you want to be healthy, just put rosemary, olive oil and pepper
on it.”

Her New Year’s resolutions?
“I’ll be on tour next year, so I guess just to work hard and be healthy
and take care of myself.”

And obviously, Deryck, too!

Source: Lindsay to Spend Thanksgiving With Dad

November 19th, 2007 / Author: cwillett

When OK! was the first to report that Lindsay Lohan had returned home for the Thanksgiving holiday, we’d held out hope that the recently cleaned-up star, who managed to patch up her issues with her estranged father during her extended stay at a Utah rehab facility, was extending an olive branch to her hard-partying mom, Dina, and that mother and child would be feasting together happily this Thursday. Alas, sources tell OK! that this is not the case.

“Lindsay will likely be with her dad in the Hamptons for Thanksgiving,” a source close to the Lohan family reveals to OK!. “She’s keeping her distance from her mom right now.”

Since exiting rehab in October, Lindsay has distanced herself from her mom and manager, who many close to the 21-year-old actress feel is a bad influence. With Lindsay all but out of her life, Dina has focused instead on managing the career of her younger daughter, Ali, as well as her own in-production reality show.

Rumor Mill: Lindsay Home for the Holidays?

November 19th, 2007 / Author: cwillett

Though the tip remains unconfirmed, OK! has been told by sources close to Lindsay Lohan that the young actress, who recently spent less than 90 minutes in a Los Angeles-area correctional facility, will be eating her Thanksgiving meal in her native New York.

While it’s believed that La Lohan’s return to the East Coast means she’ll be spending time with her estranged mother, Dina, the 21-year-old actress could also be visiting old hometown friends on Long Island.

Lindsay recently patched up her rocky relationship with her ex-con father, Michael, during her extended stay at a Utah rehab facility, and sources have told OK! that the healed bond with her father has only served to push Dina, who has also served as Lindsay’s manager, out of the picture. So hopefully this trip back home means that the young superstar is making headway in having a healthy relationship with both of her parents.

As soon as we have a confirmation (or even a denial) of this information, OK! will let you know.

OK! Exclusive: Who’s Trying To Break Chace & Carrie Up?

October 31st, 2007 / Author: OK! Staff

Despite online reports that Gossip Girl hunk Chace Crawford was overheard telling fellow partygoers at Monday’s Angel Ball in NYC that he and new gal-pal, country cutie Carrie Underwood, aren’t really a couple, a friend of the steely-eyed actor not only confirms to OK! that “Chace is still happily with his new girlfriend,” but also reveals the rumor’s source.

According to Chace’s buddy, any talk of tension with his American Idol-winning girlfriend was started by a friend of 19-year-old 30 Rock actress Katrina Bowden, who insiders say has a crush on Chace. “They were both at the Angel Ball on Monday, and one of Katrina’s girlfriends started telling anyone that would listen that Chace said he’s not really with Carrie.”

Which, Chace’s friend tells OK!, couldn’t be further from the truth. “He’s really happy in this new relationship and is nice to everyone, so it’s sad when people spread false rumors like this.”

Meanwhile, OK! hopes Chace isn’t planning on bringing Carrie home for Thanksgiving — because it might be a little awkward. When OK! caught up with the 22-year-old actor earlier in the week, he revealed that he plans to go back to Dallas to see his family, where he’ll take part in annual traditions such as “a lot of eating, and maybe watch the Cowboys football game.” Remember, until very recently, Carrie was romantically linked to hunky Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, which may make for some tense viewing around the Crawford household.
