Melissa Rivers: “Celebrity Apprentice Isn’t Fixed”

May 12th, 2009

When Donald Trump told Joan Rivers she was "hired" on Sunday night’s Celebrity Apprentice finale some said the fix was in from the very start. After all, Joan’s fellow finalist, poker player Annie Duke, had actually bested Joan during the final fund-raising challenge, so why shouldn’t she be the winner?

But Melissa Rivers, Joan’s daughter — who had been eliminated as a contestant earlier in the season — tells OK! there’s no way the outcome was anything but on the up-and-up.

"Oh God — it’s not fixed at all! "She told OK! at the launch of John DeLucie’s book, The Hunger, at the Waverly Inn in NYC. "Trust me."

And if you don’t believe Melissa — just ask her stomach.

"I think that my throwing up before going on [to be judged by Donald] proves that we didn’t know what was going on," she confesses. "It’s like when I watch my favorite teams during playoffs — I get a little queasy. I was eating a lot of Tums last night."

Khloe vs. Trump: The Feud Heats Up!

April 8th, 2009

We’ve got a feeling a certain feud is leaving the boardroom and heading for the real world!

After Khloe Kardashian got the boot from Donald Trump on The Celebrity Apprentice, each side has taken to the Internet to air their issues. Khloe recently blogged about The Donald giving her the axe, which she blames on her history with alcohol abuse.

"The Donald fired me off of Celebrity Apprentice last night," she wrote on April 6. "It wasn’t because of my work ethic, it wasn’t because I was slacking — it was because of my DUI, one of the biggest mistakes I’ve ever made that I will forever regret. I will NEVER say that what I did was right, but I think it is completely unrelated to my place on the show and I don’t think I should have been fired for that reason alone. I have tried to bring awareness to how serious DUI’s are and I am trying to make some right out of my huge mistake."

She goes on to skewer Donald for forgiving former Miss USA Tara Conner for her drinking, but not her.

"I find it weird that he can forgive and take back Tara Conner but he can’t do the same with me?!" she adds. "The things people do for ratings!"

And now Donald is fighting back with a blog of his own, titled, "Point Counterpoint."

"There’s been a lot of commotion about alcohol lately. On The Celebrity Apprentice, two of our celebrities have admitted problems with it. One had a DUI conviction. People wonder why I take a strong position on this situation," he writes, clearly indicating Khloe, who was caught driving under the influence in 2008.

"My experience with alcohol is limited, as I don’t drink. Maybe that allows me to have a clearer view of what it can do to people who do not handle it responsibly. Many people can drink and live healthy and productive lives. Others cannot."

He goes on to detail his brother’s struggle with alcohol, before delving into the Tara issue, writing, "Then people got into another commotion because I pardoned Tara Connor for her irresponsible behavior which also included alcohol use. Here’s the difference: She had just entered celebrity, which was a new arena for her, and these contestants have already had professional success as well as celebrity.

So if I take a hard line on this subject, maybe there’s a reason for it. I like and care for these people, and I don’t want to see them hurting themselves. Looking the other way might be an easier way to go, but that’s not the way I am."

The Celebrity Apprentice airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.

Khloe Kardashian: No Third Wheel

October 6th, 2008

Khloe Kardashian’s big sister Kim Kardashian may have gotten all the attention on their family’s reality show–and most recently as a contender on Dancing with the Stars, but don’t think the youngest of the Kardashian sisters feels left behind!

The 24-year-old, who’s desire to take acting classes was captured on E!’s Keeping up with the Kardashians, is taking her own stab at Hollywood, landing a role on The Apprentice.

"I am very excited for The Apprentice," Khloe told OK!.  "I have no idea what to expect and that is the nerve-racking part.  I also have never done a TV show without my family so that will be something very odd to me."

If she thinks that’s hard, wait ’til she meets Donald Trump!  "I have actually never met "The Donald" before," Khloe admits.  "I’m sure we will hit it off.  I’m a very social girl!"

Of her sister Kim’s early departure from DWTS, Khloe says she couldn’t be prouder.

"I think Kim was an amazing asset to the show," she says.  "They will miss her on that show fore sure!  She’s not a dancer what-so-ever…I can’t believe she did as well as she did so soon.  I am so proud of her for even trying. "

As for how Kim took the loss, Khloe says people shouldn’t worry too much.  "Kim is doing great.  She’s so proud of herself for doing the show.  Now she is just busy working on all of her other jobs."

Donald Trump Gives Parenting Advice

September 15th, 2008

He might be a mega millionare real estate mogul who has carved out a spot for himself on reality TV, but neither of those things are what make Donald Trump the most proud – his kids are.

While other rich young things are infamous for drinking, drugging and partying it up, the Donald’s kids – Don Jr., Eric and Ivanka – are known for their business sense, hard-working habits and ambition.

So how did he do it? Donald spoke to momlogic.com and gave these tips for raising "Kick Ass Kids":

1. Be an example. Children watch –and they will emulate what they see.

2. Set the standard high. Challenge is good, and accomplishment creates healthy self-respect.

3. Stress the importance of education, it’s the foundation for success.

4. Let them know they are exceptional, so exceptional results are expected.

5. Exhibit a sense of community through participation and philanthropy. Giving back is a great reward.

We know a few celebrities whose parents could’ve used that advice!

Omarosa & Wendy: Still Fighting!

July 22nd, 2008

The catfight’s not over!

A day after unleashing a tirade of insults at each other on The Wendy Williams Show, Omarosa and Wendy Williams are still going at it.

"I think Omarosa came here with an agenda. She was looking to get her moment. So she got it," Wendy tells Extra following the on-air fight. "Unfortunately for her, she got attention from me."

The controversial hostess and the former Apprentice contestant came to blows when Wendy labeled Omarosa as "the stereotypical black woman," prompting the reality TV star to lash out at Wendy’s appearance.

The whole attack even caught Wendy off-gaurd.

"I was more stunned," she says. "This is a grown woman who calls herself a business woman. I don’t have time for her reindeer games."

Wendy adds, "Omarosa, not nice. One day you’ll learn that you’ll get more with smiles than you do with grimace."

Giving her take on the situation, Omarosa, who was on to promote her new book, The Bitch Switch, says she turned on the switch on Wendy to retaliate at the media queen’s years’ worth of insults.

"She’s been talking smack about me for years. I don’t ever forget," Omarosa says. "So yesterday was my opportunity to call her on all this stuff. I gave her a dose of her own medicine. And she couldn’t handle it."

But the reality contestant everyone loves to hate does see the silver lining in the fight. "My sales are through the roof. And people will learn how to deal with people like [Wendy]."

No Baby for Giuliana Rancic… Yet

January 21st, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

Giuliana Rancic will not be joining the baby brigade.

The E! News correspondent is not expecting a baby with her husband, Apprentice winner Bill Rancic, the anchor tells OK!.

“Those darn pregnancy rumors” are completely false, Giuliana tells OK!. But that hasn’t stopped them from spreading like wildfire around the country, much to her frustration.

“I can add that my parents called me about a week ago asking me if I was pregnant after a customer walked up to my father at his clothing store in Maryland and congratulated him on my pregnancy,” Giuliana says. “My parents couldn’t believe they were getting the news that their baby girl was pregnant from a complete stranger!”

The 33-year-old adds that she proceeded to explain to her parents that she was not with child and “assured them that they would be the first to know when I do get pregnant” after her husband.

Giuliana and Bill tied the knot in Capri in September.

Donald Trump Calls Rosie’s Bluff

January 3rd, 2008 / Author: cwillett

The Donald is back! After a nine-month hiatus and some star-power infusion, The Apprentice returns tonight with Donald Trump taking in celebrities under his wing in a much-anticipated new season. One person who won’t be watching is his nemesis, Rosie O’Donnell.

"I think not," she says sternly while responding to reader mail in a video blog.

That’s just a bluff, though, Donald believes.

"She’ll be watching," he says on The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet after being shown the video. "She won’t say that she’s watching, but she’ll watch it."

The 61-year-old mogul came to blows with the opinionated ex-talk-show host after she chastised him for pardoning the former hard-partying Miss USA, Tara Conner. Their feud played out in the media early last year, but Donald says that’s just because they were egged on to do so.

"I’m here to talk about The Apprentice and you show this unattractive woman on the television and you say you think I play it up too much!" he laughs.

Talk did turn to the reality show, in which such stars as Gene Simmons, Stephen Baldwin and Olympic gold medalist Nadia Comaneci will compete. Also among cast — season one bad girl Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth, who, after undergoing breast enhancements, has "aged beautifully."

"Omarosa changed a little bit," Donald says coyly. "She got a little heavier. She’s fuller."

Helping him in the boardroom will be his business-savvy children, Ivanka and Donald Jr., who made Donald a grandfather last year with the birth of his daughter, Kai Madison. Being a grandfather isn’t that much different than being a father for Donald — his son Barron, 21 months, is just a year older than Kai.

"Barron is one of the youngest uncles in the world — he’s like one month older," he jokes. "Barron is Uncle Barron. Right now, neither can speak. You put these little babies together and it’s like one of those things. I always think of uncles — they were 70! They were old. Barron is on the young side."

The Celebrity Apprentice
premieres tonight at 9 p.m. on NBC.
