Brad & Angelina on Being World Travelers

January 26th, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

Here’s a tip for Hollywood studios wishing to save some money on international shipments — just hand them off to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. From L.A. to Berlin to NYC to Tokyo, there’s a good chance they’ll be heading there soon.

In fact, the pair — and their six children — are jetting off to Japan Monday morning, only hours after Brad and Angie put in appearances at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night.

"Our kids are always packing," Angelina told Entertainment Tonight about globetrotting with six young children. "They like to pack; it’s a game in our house."

However, all that back and forth across time zones can wreak havoc with a family’s daily routine. "It can get very hard trying to find 20 minutes to close your eyes if you’ve been up since four in the morning," revealed Angie. But rather than trying to use sleep to make up for all the time differences they experience, she says, "We travel so much, we never have to adjust. We change school time to four in the afternoon in we have to!"

Meanwhile, both Brad and Angelina, who were still attempting in vain to hide her pregnancy this time last year, agree that it’s been a wonderful time for them since.

"We have two healthy little babies," says Angelina. "That’s made this the best year."

Jokes Brad: "At some point, we’ll sit down and take inventory!"

Angelina Reacts To Oscar Nomination

January 22nd, 2009

The well-worn reaction to winning an Oscar is that ‘it’s an honor just to be nominated’.

But Angelina Jolie has upped the humble stakes by reacting to her nomination by saying it was an honor just to make the movie.

"Working with Clint Eastwood was a reward in itself that will last me a lifetime," she told Extra after learning today that she’s up for Best Actress for her work in the Eastwood-directed drama The Changeling.

"To receive a nomination from the Academy on top of that is a privilege beyond any expectation," she added coyly.

"It has been an exceptional year for acting, and I am honored to be in the company of these talented actors whose performances all deserve this recognition."

The superstar also gave a nod to Kung Fu Panda, the comedy for which she voiced a character and which is in the running for Best Animated Picture.

"I am also happy that Kung Fu Panda was noticed by the Academy and proud to be a part of a film my entire family loves so much."

Clint Eastwood: Not Going Anywhere

December 4th, 2008

At an age when most people have retired from their careers and are focused on just relaxing after yaers of hard work, at 78, Clint Eastwood says he’s not done making movies yet. In fact, he’s ready to take even more risks.

“When you’re young, you’re very reckless,” he tells Parade.com. “Then you get conservative. Then you get reckless again.”

In recent years Clint has moved from leading man on screen to playing tougher roles, as well as taking on the new job of director, a shift that has him far from ready to stop.

“I just ran into a guy a little younger than me,” he reveals. “He says, ‘I’m going to retire.’ I say, ‘Wait for me. Keep going.’ Everybody in my generation, once you get in the seventh decade, they go, ‘Well, what the hell. I’m on bonus time. Let me retire. ‘ "

As for getting older on screen, Clint is the last to shy away from his age, instead, he’s embracing it, with roles like his latest part as a racist Korean war vet in Gran Torino, which he also directed.

“I’d always tried to resist playing the supervirility thing,” he explains. “I liked showing the vulnerability of age.”

And even if his fans might be upset by this latest character, or any he chooses to portray, Clint’s not too worried.

“I’m going to touch a chord, or they’re going to run me out of town,” he says. After all, as The Changeling director says, “What can they do to you after 70?”

"You’ve talked about having more children, adding to the group? Have you considered adopting again?" Matt asked as Angie nodded and murmured in assent.

"Do you have anything in mind?" Matt pushed a little further as the Changeling star smiled and nodded.

"Yeah," she replied, without elaborating further.

"Is it something you’d do soon?" the Today Show host questioned.

"It depends," Angie responded. "You can’t even start the process until any new children are six months old, to understand how the new family has settled to see what you could absorb into a new family," she added of the adjustment.

Angie adds that their family is used to adding new kids, so when twins Vivienne and Knox came at the same time, Maddox, Zahara, Pax and Shiloh were prepared.

"We have so many children, they’re not really stunned any more when kids come home," she said. "Mad is just, he’s the professional big brother," she added.

As for partner Brad, Angie says she’s no longer happy being alone and being without him, saying, "I’ve met the right person."

The Secret to Angie’s Hot Post-Baby Body!

October 9th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

In her first public appearance since giving birth to twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline on July 12,  Angelina Jolie wowed throngs of waiting fans as she strutted her trim, post-baby body in a skin-tight, black strapless Versace dress at the NYC premiere of the Changeling on Oct. 4.

By her side–her ever gallant partner Brad Pitt, who looked proud to escort the mother of his children down the red carpet.  Angie’s amazing figure so soon after having twins would make even the most in-shape mother jealous. So how does she explain her killer post-baby body?

"Genetics," the actress told OK! at the Changeling’s debut at the New York Film Festival. "Certain people are different in their shape. I’m breastfeeding and I think that’s it. That’s how your body naturally responds."

While it’s true that nursing twins can help a woman burn 1000-1200 calories a day, it’s not just Knox and Vivienne helping Angie shed the pounds. The actress, 33, admits running around with the kids is a big calorie-burner. As if to prove her point, just hours before the premiere, the doting mom took Maddox, 7, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, to Lee’s art shop.

"The kids were hyper and happy," says an eyewitness. Angelina is also adhering to a high-calorie, healthy diet. "She’s learned the value of nutrition.  When she wants Pizza she’ll have it. She eats in moderation."

The source adds, "After losing her mom [Marcheline Bertrand died in January 2007] and looking so frail it was a wake up call."

Eating habits aside, it’s clear that Angelina is settled and happy with her brood. "I feel great," she said at the premiere.  "I feel very happy that my kids are healthy."

Special Report: Brad & Angelina in Berlin

October 1st, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

With an Oct. 1 premiere for his comedy Burn After Reading in Berlin and an Oct. 4 premiere for her drama Changeling in NYC, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are back to their globe-trotting ways — but only temporarily. The couple and their brood have happily settled into their new digs outside Berlin.

Angie and Brad, along with Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox, moved to the city’s southern Wannsee Lake neighborhood and are now ensconced in the Palais Parkschloss (Castle in the Park), a 12,000-square-foot villa set amid fairy-tale gardens overlooking the yacht-filled waters of the Wannsee.

“[We] are thrilled that they are nearby,’’ Brigitta Schmidt, 55, who lives down the street, tells OK!. “Normally the most exciting thing we see in Wannsee are roaming wild boars, but this is more exciting!”

The sexiest man alive and his trademark fedora were on display at Al Contadino Sotto Le Stelle on Sept. 24, where Quentin hosted a party for members of the Inglorious
Bastards
cast.

“Brad really loved the Parma ham, mushrooms with cheese and eggplant antipasti,’’ restaurant owner Mimmo Bianco tells OK!. “It was a family atmosphere among the actors, and the thing you feel about Brad is what a warm, generous heart he has, how he just wants to be part of the gang.’’

Brad has similarly impressed his cast mates at rehearsals. “He brought Maddox to the set, and they were holding hands,’’ one co-star tells OK!. “They were cool dudes together.’’

Angie & the Twins: First Days at Home

July 23rd, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

In the wee hours of the morning on July 19, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s adorable twins, Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon, quietly exited Fondation Lenval Hospital in Nice, France, and were welcomed home by their four siblings at Château Miraval in Brignol.

"Everyone is so excited about the twins," an insider tells OK!.

Indeed, the littlest Jolie-Pitts, who were delivered on July 12, were greeted at the $60-million castle by gifts sent from all over the world — plus a few items that Brad, 44, and Angelina, 33, picked out on their own!

"They bought quite a lot of baby clothes," Audrey Arbibe, owner of children’s boutique Bonpoint, tells OK! exclusively of the couple’s impromptu May 19 spree in Cannes, France. "Mostly beiges and whites. Angelina has very elegant, yet natural, taste — nothing frilly."

Frills, or no frills aside, six children is a lot to handle — especially when you add newborn twins into the mix! Angelina’s brother, James Haven, and Brad’s parents, Bill and Jane Pitt — who looked on as their grandchildren played soccer on the grounds of the palatial 1,000-acre estate over the weekend — flew to France for the birth of the newest Jolie-Pitt members, and, according to an insider, "They’re sticking around to help everyone get settled into the new routine."

Still, it’s not like motherhood is a role that Angelina hasn’t already mastered. Jason Butler Harner, her co-star in the upcoming thriller The Changeling, observed the actress with Maddox, Pax, Zahara and Shiloh during filming, and tells OK!, "She’s calm and has a sense of humor. You would think it takes a village, but it’s just her."

Cover Story: Angie’s Twin Countdown

May 21st, 2008

"I never planned on having children biologically," Angelina Jolie said last week while in Cannes, France, for the annual film festival. "But that changes when you meet someone you love."

And things are about to change in a big way for the Oscar-winner, who recently confirmed that she and Brad Pitt are expecting twins. And now, as the clock winds down toward her delivery, OK! can reveal some of the plans the couple are making for the big day.

Though sources say the couple had originally planned on welcoming the latest addition to their growing brood in the United States, it’s becoming more and more likely that the tots will be born in Europe. Angie herself admitted on May 15 that she and Brad "are thinking of France."

So how long will they the Jolie-Pitts remain overseas? "They have access to their villa in France at least through July 1," one source confirms to OK!. Which works out perfectly, because odds are that the actress may give birth in the next four weeks.

Despite her Kung Fu Panda co-star Dustin Hoffman’s assertion that Angie is due in August, one medical expert tells OK! "she’s likely to deliver toward the end of June. Women who are having twins often have their babies early."

Regardless of where the babies are born, insiders reveal to OK! that Brad will definitely be hands-on for the delivery. "Brad will be with Angie during the birth," says the source, "Holding her hand and whispering words of encouragement."
