Mickey Rourke Sleeps With His Bird

May 11th, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

Mickey Rourke is moving on after the death of his beloved Chihuahua, Loki, who went to doggie heaven in February.

Although the little dog was often spotted at events with the Oscar nominee, 56, the animal-loving actor has a menagerie of other pets primed to shine.

“I don’t really spoil them,” the friendly star tells me. “I just lost Loki, which was really heavy-duty. I’ve got four other ones, and I didn’t want to go out and replace her, so what I did is I like cockatoos. They have an organization in Utah that takes abandoned animals, and we just got a really great cockatoo that’s named Sunny that’s been passed around through, like, six different homes, so we took Sunny and she’s really cool.”

What nice things does he do for her?

“Just relax,” he tells me. “I like the fact that Sunny’s a bird, and I only had her a week, and she sleeps in bed with me.”

When Mickey’s not playing around with his furry-and-feathered friends, he makes time to talk motorcycles with Brad Pitt.

“I can’t afford to buy the motorcycles that he buys,” The Wrestler star says. “He buys really expensive ones. We both love bikes, but we are supposed to get together and look at some bikes as soon as we can find the right time to do it.”

Another pal is Lindsay Lohan. How is he helping her through her difficult times?

“I think she’s gonna get her s*** together, but I wish her all the luck in the world,” he tells me. “Everybody falls down, you’ve just gotta get back up and put it back together again.”

Would he star in a movie with her?

“I wouldn’t rule it out. I think she’s talented, you know.”

Evan Rachel Wood Denies Romance with Mickey Rourke

January 29th, 2009

Evan Rachel Wood is once again denying rumors that she’s romantically involved with her The Wrestler co-star Mickey Rourke. Especially now that the movie is getting so much Oscar buzz, the actress says she’s sick of the focus being taken away from the film and placed on insignificant tabloid reports.

"I’m upset because I feel disrespected by the press and by Mr. Rourke," Evan tells Rolling Stone. "Just because I’m single doesn’t mean that you can take advantage of me. It’s unfair that the performances might suffer because of all of these distractions."

Wood, 21, who previously dated rocker Marilyn Manson, says there’s absolutely nothing going on with the 52-year-old Rourke.

"He’s too old for me. Nothing ever happened and nothing ever will," she affirms.

Hey, no offense Mickey!

Stallone Says Mickey Deserves the Oscar

January 29th, 2009

Sylvester Stallone is no stranger to hard-bodied, muscly, masculine movies, so it’s hardly surprising that he’s thrown his support behind Get Carter co-star Mickey Rourke in the Oscar race.

“Mickey, if anybody deserves an Oscar, it’s you," he tells Extra. "No question about it. You lived it. You earned it. You deserve it. You’re an incredibly talented man. It’s about time everyone says, ‘You know what. Give it to the winner.’ "

Sylvester who Mickey credits with helping him resurrect his career, also adds that he wasn’t at all surprised to see his buddy getting award noms for his role in The Wrestler.

“I can totally believe it. It was just a matter of time. He’s a tough a** guy," he says. "He’s old school… Eventually someone was going to do a story that captures his heart, his plight and his biography."

As for his own next steps, Rambo funs should get excited – he’s coming back.

"We are doing another Rambo, but the conflict is whether to do it in America or a foreign country," Sylvester reveals.

Evan Rachel Wood Locks Lips With Mickey Rourke

January 27th, 2009

In the continuing real-life soap, The Young and the Wrestler, revolving around 21-year-old Evan Rachel Wood and her 56-year-old leading man, Mickey Rourke, it seems the co-stars are certainly heating things up offscreen, despite their protestations of friendship.

PopTarts reports that the duo were spotted in a lip-lock at the Four Seasons Hotel in L.A. after the SAG Awards on Sunday night. Evan, who played Mickey’s daughter in The Wrestler (ew, ew) and her significantly older man have denied relationship rumors ever since they began working together, saying their interest in each other is far from romantic.

However Evan seems to have a hankering for older men – she just split with rocker Marilyn Manson, 19 years her senior, in December. Mickey is more than double her age, but who are we to judge?

Mickey Rourke’s Life Imitating His Art

January 26th, 2009

Stand back, you out-of-shape frail actor types – Mickey Rourke doesn’t just play a tough guy in The Wrestler, he plans on getting back in the ring for real!

The Golden Globe winner tells Extra he “almost didn’t do the film. [But] things worked out.” And now that he got himself in shape for the silver screen, the wrestling king has come calling!

“Now, Vince [McMahon] wants me to do Wrestle Mania in Houston. Chris Jericho, I’m coming after your a**," he jokes. "You better get yourself in shape brother… I’m going to do it!”

Okay so he can talk smack, but is he really going to take on competitors in the ring?

“You bet your a** I’m going to do it!"

Duly noted.

Mickey Rourke Is Making The Most Of His Comeback!

January 26th, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

It’s got to be nice to be back in the spotlight after all that time in the shadows!

Mickey Rourke, who was once used to having beautiful actresses competing for his attention, is taking advantage of his Golden Globe win to hang out with Hollywood’s younger set.

First the actor, 52, who picked up the award for his career-reviving role in The Wrestler,

grabbed a hug from Natalie Portman, 27, at the Chateau Marmont, on Jan. 10.

Next he accosted The Crow actress Bai Ling, 38. The pair “made out and partied pretty hard,” reports the New York Post.

Meanwhile, he and co-star Evan Rachel Wood, 21, “were very flirty” at Tao in Las Vegas in November, says an insider (which seems just a little creepy, since Evan and Mickey played father and daughter  in the film).

But sadly for them all, Mickey’s heart is already taken — by his Chihuahua, Loki, 17.

"She’s the one I love the most in this life," Mickey has said.

Evan Rachel Wood: I Hate The Gym

January 12th, 2009

Evan Rachel Wood is moving on after the demise of her relationship with Marilyn Manson.

Looking fierce is part of her strategy.

When we meet on a cold winter’s day in NYC, The Wrestler star, 21, is donning green nails. “It’s Emerald City,” she tells me. “I saw Cabaret, and I was like ‘I want those.’”

After splurging on pickles and whipped cream during the holidays, Evan tells me although she gained weight during the season, she doesn’t feel bad about it because she’s stayed active.

“I take ballet, do pilates and yoga,” she tells  me. “I’m lucky. People say I have the metabolism of a hummingbird. I was born and raised in North Carolina, so I’m all about fried everything and carbs. That’s what I do.”

She shies away from the typical treadmill routine.

“I go to dance class. I like that. I hate the gym. I can’t do that. I have to be doing something fun and interesting.”

Moving forward, Evan is attracted to “personality and aura.”

Marisa Tomei Bares All

December 29th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

In the upcoming film The Wrestler, Marisa Tomei strips down as an exotic dancer in a relationship with a down-and-out pro wrestler (Mickey Rourke). It’s not the first time the actress has gotten naked in a film (she has an explicit nude scene in Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead), but Tomei is the first to admit she’s no exhibitionist.

"I’m uncomfortable with exposing myself," she tells Parade.com. "But in these films I think what I did was appropriate and I’m proud of it. Actually, I ‘m concerned with a lot more than how my body looks. I just find it really hard to watch myself in general. But being nude was weird. And now I’m seeiming like the actress who does that, which wasn’t my intention."

Marisa, 44, who bares an amazing figure in the film, attributes good genes and, believe it or not, hula hooping!

"I have a travel hoop. You can twist it in half but it’s adult size, not like a little kids hula hoop," she says. "It’s really good for your core strength."

Tomei says she and Rourke "were on the same page from the beginning" when making The Wrestler and despite reports that he was difficult to work with, she says, "It was like, ‘Bring it on’. We just jumped in with each other and he just slipped into his role seamlessly."

So will Marisa be making any mainstream films in the future?

"I do things like The Wrestler for not a lot of money and then I get p.o.’d at myself and think, ‘I’ve got to make more of a living than this,’" she says.  "I show up a lot when other actors won’t. There’s a lot of downside to it. Not a lot in the scheme of life, but in terms of comfort and money and risk."

She continues, "Sometimes when I get really worried, I think, ‘I can still get a job.’ But a lot of it is luck. There’s all kinds of pressures but if you start really thinking about those pressures you’re really missing the point of why you wanted to act in the first place.

Mickey Rourke Disses Sean Penn

December 29th, 2008

One might think critical acclaim would be enough to keep stars happy these days? Apparently Mickey Rourke, whose performance in The Wrestler has garnered Oscar buzz already, still feels a bit threatened by Milk star Sean Penn, according to The Daily Beast.

The blog reports that an L.A. entertainment honcho received this text message from Mickey regarding his Oscar rival: “Look seans an old friend of mine and i didnt buy his performance at all—thought he did an average pretend acting like he was gay besides hes one of the most homophobic people i kno [sic]."

However Mickey’s publicist says “there is no Oscar feud between Mickey and Sean. They have known each other and been friends for a very long time. Mickey attended the New York premiere of Milk to support Sean and only has the greatest respect for him.” She adds that Rourke is ”completely unaware of the text.”
