Will Ferrell Helps Conan Kick Things Off

When the big handover of The Tonight Show occurs next month, with Jay Leno stepping aside for Conan O’Brien at the desk, funnyman Will Ferrell will be right there to help.

 

NBC announced today that Will is set to be Conan’s first guest on the couch, and Pearl Jam will appear as the first band under his watch.

 

Conan is slated to be Jay’s last guest as the new era is ushered in, with the first Conan-helmed show taking place on June 1. Jay has been the host of Tonight for 17 years, and will step down on May 29.

Jay Leno Returns to TV

Jay Leno wasn’t about to let a case of what he calls the chills keep him from his Tonight Show hosting duties, as he returned to TV last night after a brief hospital visit.

 

"I was freezing and I got chills, and here at NBC we have an `ODN,’ overly dramatic nurse," Leno said, who added that he drove to work that day without a jacket in one of his vinatage cars. The nurse took his temperature and pressured him to go to the hospital. He walked over to nearby Providence St. Joseph Medical Centeron Thursday and was checked in for an unspecified ailment, although he revealed he had a 103-degree fever.

 

He also joked about an incident involving a man claiming to be a Jesuit priest, who tried to enter his hospital room. NBC then posted security outside his hotel room.

 
"So now I’m like in The Godfather," Leno told the audience, referring to the scene in which Marlon Brando’s wounded mob boss is protected from his would-be assassins.  "It’s so stupid. But anyway, we’re back and we’re not gonna be canceling any more shows or appearances."

 

Leno’s replacement on the Tonight Show, Conan O’Brien, who takes over in July, also came by. At the hospital, Leno said, "I had a horrible dream that I couldn’t breathe. I felt like I was suffocating … then I woke up and realized Conan was holding a pillow over my face."

 

Andy Richter Reuniting with Conan on Tonight Show

Conan O’Brien is keeping his new gig all in the family. According to TVGuide, Andy Richter is reuniting with O’Brien as the announcer of The Tonight Show when the Late Night host takes over.

Richter first served as sidekick when O’Brien took over for David Letterman as host of NBC’s Late Night in 1993, but later left in 2000 to focus on acting.

On Tonight, Richter will not be a nightly desk-side presence as he was on Late Night, but will also participate in both live and pre-taped comedy bits.

“Andy is one of the funniest people I know, and we’ve maintained a close friendship since he left Late Night,” O’Brien said. “We have a proven chemistry that will be an incredible asset to The Tonight Show."

O’Brien joked that Richter’s joining the show for practical reasons as well. “He owes me $300,” O’Brien said.

O’Brien and Richter will make their Tonight debuts on June 1.

Jennifer Aniston’s Turning 40 and Fabulous

Jennifer Aniston stopped by the Tonight Show with Jay Leno to promote her latest movie He’s Just Not That Into You on Thursday, but it was the actress’s upcoming 40th birthday, on Feb. 11, that seemed more interesting to the late night host.

Wearing her standard little black dress accessorized with multiple gold necklaces and black stilettos, Aniston played coy about her birthday plans, telling Jay Leno, "I haven’t given it much thought," before adding, "This is going to be a birthday to celebrate."

But off camera, the actress wasn’t quite as confident. "She looked a bit nervous before coming on," an audience member tells OK!. "She kept finicking with her hair."

During the segment, Leno asked Jen about the recent dog rescue that took place in her nearby neighborhood of Beverly Hills that was caught on film by paparazzi. 

Leno held up a copy of OK! Magazine’s cover of Jen titled Good Car-Ma, telling her how "great" she looked. Aniston said the dog was in danger of being hit by oncoming traffic and that a photographer actually helped her rescue it.

"For once a photographer did something right," she quipped. "We are all about change!" The dog actually belonged to the dentist of her hairdresser Chris McMillan.

"Only in Hollywood this could happen," she said.

 

Aniston was rumored to have spent Super Bowl Sunday with her rocker beau John Mayer at a gathering in Calabasas, Calif. While she confirmed she did go to a party, she didn’t quite say with whom, adding, "I’m not going to lie, I went in and asked, ‘Who’s playing today?’"

Scarlett Johansson’s Snotty Tissue Sells for $5,300!

Times may be tough all over this holiday season, but that didn’t stop an anonymous bidder from digging deep into their pockets to place the winning bid of $5,300 on Scarlett Johansson’s used tissue!

Last week, a sniffly and sneezy ScarJo appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The actress explained to Jay that she had likely caught the bad cold from her Spirit co-star Samuel L. Jackson. She told Leno that for this reason, her cold had some "value," and after the host offered her a tissue for a bit of nose-blowing, it was decided that the snotty bit of flimsy paper should be auctioned off on eBay, with all proceeds from the auction to benefit USA Harvest.

With only hours to go before the auction closed, the price appearaed to have plateaued at $4050.00, but then as the final bidding frenzy began, that number increased over $1,200 in the last minute!

According to eBay, there were 83 bids placed during the course of the auction, which began at $.99. All bidders’ names were kept anonymous and anyone wishing to place an offer had to be pre-approved, so as to keep the bidding honest.

Angie Harmon & Jason Sehorn Expecting Third

Seven years ago NFL player Jason Sehorn surprised Jay Leno when he walked onto the Tonight stage, got down on one knee in front of actor girlfriend Angie Harmon, and proposed. She, of course, accepted.

 

Flash forward to today: Angie and Jason are still happily married and expecting their third child, Angie’s publicist announced Wednesday.

 

The new arrival will have two big siblings, Finley, 4, and Avery, 3.

Adam Sandler to Be a Big Daddy Again!

Sadie Sandler is going to be a big sister!

Adam Sandler and his wife Jackie are expecting their second child together, he announced on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Wednesday.

Jackie, 33, is nearly four months pregnant and is overcoming a rough first trimester marked by “all day” morning sickness, according to the comedian.

“She’s very sick. She’s going through a lot,” he told Jay. “My wife gets it very bad, she vomits a lot — morning, afternoon, the whole deal. My little daughter is always looking at her and is nervous to see her mom sick like that.”

Thankfully, Adam, who debunked pregnancy rumors in December, knows exactly how to pacify 2-year-old Sadie’s worries.

“[I say] ‘Mommy’s not bad sick,’” he says. “’She just has something growing in her that’s eventually gonna shoot out her vagina and take half your toys. She’s better now.’”

Getting serious, the 41-year-old You Don’t Mess with Zohan star reveals he’s been doing all he can to soothe and ease Jackie’s pain, reassuring her that it’s all worth it in the end.

“I would rub her back and go, ‘It’s worth it. We’re going to have another beautiful baby. I love you. Thanks for doing this.’”

Ashlee Dances Around Baby News

Though it had been rumored that Ashlee Simpson would use her appearance on Monday night’s Tonight Show with Jay Leno to finally admit what the rest of the world already knows — that she and fiancé Pete Wentz are expecting their first child — it appears that the singer just isn’t ready to talk about impending motherhood.

While many singing celebrities will take some time to talk to host Jay Leno in addition to performing for the audience, Ashlee only appeared during the musical portion of the evening.

Sporting her engagement ring and hiding her baby bump under a loose-fitting black dress, the little sister of Jessica Simpson sang “Little Miss Obsessive,” the second single from her new album, Bittersweet World, which hits stores Tuesday.

While Ashlee didn’t shoot a sit-down interview segment, she did take part in a pre-taped promo for the show that involved her, Jay, hunky animal trainer (and OK! Man Candy!) Dave Salmoni, and a baby black bear. And judging by the way she doubled over in laughter when the adorable furry creature went #1 on Jay, Ashlee will likely find diaper changing a hilarious undertaking.
