Tyra’s Alleged Stalker: We’re Buddies

April 28th, 2009

Note to stalkers: claiming you’re BFFs with the person you’re harassing probably won’t work. A Georgia drifter accused of stalking and harassing Tyra Banks tried that line, a producer from her show testified yesterday.

The New York Daily News reports that Ray Noia checked on the man, Brady Green, after he got into the studio, and started asking to see his "very good friend."

"He wouldn’t leave when they told him Tyra wasn’t there," said Noia.

Green was on the "do not admit" list last March, and prosecutors say he threatened to kill an employee who wouldn’t give him the studio’s address. When he found his way there, he talked up anyone he could to get to Tyra.

"He’d explain, ‘I’m trying to see her. She’s a good friend of mine. Is there any way I can contact her?’" said Cynthia Simpson, a former staffer at The Tyra Banks Show. She added that he tried to get tickets as well. "He came in and asked when’s the show starting, how long would it take, can he get tickets. He said he was a friend of Tyra’s [and] that she knows he was coming to see her."

Another employee, Natasha Randolph, a secretary at the show, testified that Green sent Tyra flowers as well and called somewhere between six and 10 times. "

Green may finally get his face-to-face with Tyra, as she could testify in court tomorrow.

Keanu: I never Hit a Pap!

October 28th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

Keanu Reeves is known for his cheesy one-liners in films (think Point Break: "I am an F-B-I agent!"). But on Tuesday, the actor had a big one-liner for the court:  I didn’t hit a paparazzo!

Reeves took the stand at his civil trial where he says he slowly moved his Porsche forward to get a paparazzo to move out of the way, but never hit him.

He testified about his recollection of a night in March 2007, when a photographer claims the actor seriously injured him with his car.  Alison Silva is suing the actor for damages and lost wages.  He claims Reeves pushed him to the ground with his car while Silva was taking pictures.

Wearing a dark suit and frequently using his hands, Reeves described how he tried to get Silva to get out in front of his car by rocking it and moving it slowly forward, but never hit the photographer.

Still No Verdict in Deadlocked Britney Trial!

October 20th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

The 12 jurors in Britney Spears‘ ongoing misdemeanor trial for driving without a license continued to be deadlocked on Monday afternoon, at the end of their second day of deliberations.

The mostly female jury began deliberations on Friday for two hours at a Van Nuys, Calif., courthouse before taking a break for the weekend. The judge in the case, James Steele, had originally given the jurors until 1:30pm, L.A. time, Monday to come to a decision, but after three votes, they are still unable to come to a unanimous decision.

Shortly after 2:30pm PT, Judge Steele asked the jury into the courtroom and polled them individually on whether or not they thought a unified verdict could be reached. The jury foreman replied, "Personally, I don’t think so," while a handful of others thought that it was still a possibility.

All three ballots cast by the jury during their two days of deliberation have come back the same way, 10-2, though it was not announced whether that vote was leaning toward finding Brit guilty or toward acquitting her.

"Everyone has become more entrenched in their position," Juror #16 told the judge.

At that point, the judge asked the jurors to reconvene one final time in an attempt to work out their differences. However, by day’s end, they were still unable to reach a decision, so deliberations continued on into a third day.

So what’s taking the jury so long to decide?

"There are extraneous issues," explains Britney’s attorney, J. Michael Flannagan, to OK!. "She says she’s a Louisiana resident. She wouldn’t be here right now if not for the fact that she has to be here with her kids right now."

Continues Flannagan, "She considers herself a Louisiana girl. She’s building a new house in Louisiana. She’s maintaining her old house in Louisiana. She wants to go back to Louisiana."

To get some clarity, OK! spoke to its own legal eagle, who explained, "What makes Britney’s case tricky is that she is claiming multiple ‘residences.’ In other words, a jury will have to decide where she spends the most time, which home she actually lives in, before determining a verdict in this case.

"Where a person has several ‘residences,’ and it is disputed which is his or her ‘permanent’ residence or domicile, it will be a matter of proof as to which is the state of domicile or permanent residency."

Although the Britster herself has not appeared in court, a day’s worth of testimony and arguments were presented to the jury last week. The case revolves around charges filed after the pop star hit a parked car and fled the scene. She was later found to be driving with a Louisiana, not California, driver’s license, a misdemeanor in the state that carries a maximum fine of $1,500 and up to six months in prison.

The prosecution claims Brit was obligated to obtain a California driver’s license, but her attorney said the "Womanizer" singer really lives in Louisiana, a state she’s properly licensed in.

Britney’s lawyer previously rejected a plea deal, citing her celebrity status as a reason to target her.

Echoing that sentiment, a court insider remarked, "If she was any other person, she wouldn’t even get a jury," in the court room today.

No Leniency For Anne Hathaway’s Ex

October 20th, 2008

Although Anne Hathaway’s ex-boyfriend, Raffaello Follieri, asked for a reduced sentence in his fraud case, U.S. prosecutors have advised the judge that the Italian businessman doesn’t deserve leniency.

Raffaello, who originally agreed to five years and three months in jail after pleading guilty in September to fraud for various business dealings involving the Catholic church, had asked for his sentence to be lessened to three years.

Court papers submitted in Manhattan today contend that the Rachel Getting Married star’s ex should serve more than four years in jail for cheating investors, according to the Associated Press. His sentence will be handed down on Thursday.

Anne has remained stoic throughout the controversy surrounding her ex and their high-profile breakup, which fell apart after four years together when Raffaello was arrested last June.

"What’s the right thing to do? Do you talk about it? It’s the elephant in the room," she said recently. "I think it’s better to let everyone know that I’m OK. I’m trying to move on and have a sense of humor about everything."

Britney’s Jury Selected

October 16th, 2008

Buckle up, Britney Spears fans – a jury has been selected in her misdemanor trial for driving without a license.

Made up of mostly females, including a wide variety of people in different industries like education, banking and insurance, the panel was finally filled out this morning, after a few bumps in the process. A few prospective jurors were disqualified when they admitted to having strong feelings about Brit’s paparazzi-filled antics, according to the Associated Press.

The "Womanizer" singer, whose single is on the top of the Billboard charts, wasn’t there,  however openeing statments were expected to begin shortly. Britney’s father, Jamie, is among those set to testify, along with police officers and others.

The case will address a charge leveled against the pop star from last year when she hit a parked car and fled the scene in L.A., and was discovered to have an out-of-state license.

Day 1 of Britney Trial Ends, No Jury

October 15th, 2008

And now for the latest on Britney Spears‘ never-ending legal troubles!

Day one of the singer’s misdemeanor driving without a license trial ended on Wednesday without a single juror picked. Britney did not appear at court.

Potential jurors differed on several aspects of the case. One man blamed the paparazzi for Spears’ troubles while another called the idea of a trial "ridiculous." Only one person was dismissed, a woman who claimed she had some previous contact with Brit’s business manager.

This puts a damper on the trial, which was supposed to move forward with opening statements on Thursday.

The charge is the last remnant of a case stemming from an accident last August in which Britney, 26, hit a parked car and left the scene. At the time she did not have a valid California drivers liscence.

Brit’s father, Jamie Spears, may be called as a witness in the case, which is expected to last for three days.

Lindsay Lohan Confesses!

August 23rd, 2007

Lindsay Lohan will not stand trial for DUI. The troubled starlet pleaded no contest to two counts of DUI. By doing so, she avoided a trial. She also pleaded guilty to two counts of being under the influence of a controlled substance– both misdemeanors. On top of this she pleaded no contest to reckless driving charges. But, she will have to serve time. Since she’s a second offender she must a minimum of four days. But the judge had mercy on Lindsay and instead she’ll have to serve 10 days community service as well as one day in jail. As for the substance abuse plea, she was ordered not to use controlled substances and must enroll in a drug program. She released s statement to TMZ earlier today: "It is clear to me that my life has become completely unmanageable because I am addicted to alcohol and drugs. Recently, I relapsed and did things for which I am ashamed. I broke the law, and today I took responsibility by pleading guilty to the charges in my case. No matter what I said when I was under the influence on the day I was arrested, I am not blaming anyone else for my conduct other than myself. I thank God I did not injure others. I easily could have. I very much want to be healthy and gain control of my life and career and have asked for medical help in doing so. I am taking these steps to improve my life. Luckily, I am not alone in my daily struggle and I know that people like me have succeeded. Maybe with time it will become easier. I hope so."
