Cover Story: Tom & Katie’s Baby News

January 28th, 2009

When Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes exited the Ivy restaurant in L.A. on Jan. 21, the smiles on their faces as they glanced at each other said it all: "We’re in love!" But when Tom gently placed his hand over his beautiful wife’s belly and she clasped his hand and held it there, the message was even louder and clearer — the couple have another baby on the way!

"It was identical to how Tom used to stand with Katie when she was pregnant with Suri," an eyewitness tells OK!. "And the way they looked at each other! You could see the love in their eyes and there was a feeling that they were sharing something very special at that moment."

Although Katie’s rep tells OK! she’s not expecting, everyone who knows the pair believes that if she’s not already pregnant, she will be soon.

"Tom would love to have another baby!" a friend of the actor tells OK!. "There’s nothing that gives him more pleasure than his role as a father."

And, according to a Valkyrie set insider, the couple would be ecstatic if their second baby turned out to be another girl! "Suri has been such a joy for Tom," the insider says. "As far as he’s concerned, he’d be happy to have another girl. Katie feels the same."

Tom Cruise Thanks Berlin

January 20th, 2009

Tom Cruise is in Berlin, Germany, to promote his latest film Valkyrie, where he shared his thoughts about shooting in the famous city.

"I think it’s the most challenging film I’ve ever made," the 46-year-old star said during a photocall for Valkyrie at the Hotel de Rome in Berlin on Tuesday. "The whole time, we carried a huge burden of the responsibility of the history [and wanted] to represent the spirit of the resistance and history in the most accurate way and also deliver a piece of entertainment. We felt very privileged to have that opportunity to shoot there!"

Tom Cruise’s Global Dilemma

January 2nd, 2009

Teachers have taught since the beginning of time that copying is not allowed, but apparently Tom Cruise and his production company, United Artists, weren’t listening too carefully: a man who owns an Adolf Hitler artifact featured prominently in Valkyrie is upset that the star didn’t get permission to replicate it for use in the movie.

Robert Pritkin, who is also the author of "Rice-a-Roni, the San Francisco treat" song and has a $40 million art collection, bought a globe that once belonged to Hitler, and had its image copyrighted as well in 2007, according to Page Six. The globe’s likeness i featured often in Valkyrie, by way of a replicate copy,

"Pritikin believes the globe should be used as a teaching tool so the lessons of Hitler’s nightmare can keep history from repeating itself," Page Six quotes investigator Paul Barresi as saying. Another investigator, Dan Hanks, says, "Tom Cruise’s use of the globe’s likeness without our client’s permission was likely just an oversight. We’re confident this will all be quickly resolved out of court."

"I think it would be a wonderful gesture of good will on Tom Cruise’s part to purchase the globe along with all of the other Hitler artifacts owned by Mr. Pritikin and donate them to the Wiesenthal Center," Barresi said.

Tom Cruise Gets Real

December 17th, 2008

Tom Cruise arrives at 6:50 p.m. for the NYC premiere of his Nazi suspense thriller Valkyrie held Monday at Frederick P. Rose Hall in Time Warner Center.

Because a motley group of fifteen Scientology protesters is stationed outside the venue, the glitzy spectacle is located deep inside the building away from all the hubbub on the bustling street below.

The hysteria makes one feel sorry for the warm, kind, generous man who looks everyone in the eyes and finds joy in making others laugh. But he takes it all in stride. The Top Gun star asks to snap a photo mugging with a fellow red carpeteer, saying, “Give me this, man. Appreciate it.”

He also makes fun of WPLJ’s Brad Blanks by copping a fake snore. “I thought we were having a good time, what happened?” Tom yuks. (See video!)

And when asked about his Golden Globe nod for Tropic Thunder, Tom gets in the zone, cocks his head and starts swaying, saying he learned to dance by watching Soul Train. “They always had the best moves.”

Although the likeable actor, 46, dismisses the question “does Scientology give you power?” that comes from a brazen international TV crew, he’s more than happy to gush about his beautiful family that includes wife Katie Holmes, who turns 30 Thursday, and kids Bella, 15, Conor, 13, and Suri, 2. A few highlights:

*Suri was afraid of the eyepatch he wears in the flick, and would remove it whenever she saw Tom wearing it. “The girls in the makeup trailer had a little teddy bear and put the patch on it, and gave it to her so she would play with it. She got used to the patch on the teddy bear.”

*She was also afraid of her Santa Claus doll. “At first she was like ‘no, dada, no, no.’ She happened to give it another go, and it’s great.” As for Christmas plans? “We still haven’t decided.”

*Suri’s a big talker. “Her vocabulary is incredible.” His favorite phrases? “The one that we love is ‘I love you.’ I love hearing that. ‘I love you mama.’”

*The keys to his relationship with Katie are communication and taking turns. “She’s in there hosting the family and friends tonight, the same way I did when she did her Broadway show — that was my job. That way she can go out and do her thing.”

*Tom enjoys being Mr. Mom. “I always wanted to be a father. I love every moment. Now we’ve got the teenagers and the 2½ year-old. I feel lucky to have that dynamic of they’re going through their things while we’re all surrounding her and enjoying every moment of entertainment that she brings.”

It’s no wonder Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt are the biggest movie stars in the world. They know how to work it. Very impressed.

Valkyrie is in theaters December 25.

Tom Cruise Sued For $11 Million

August 26th, 2008

Tom Cruise is in a whole ‘lotta legal trouble!

12 movie extras from the actor’s upcoming film, Valkyrie, are suing him and his production company, United Artists, after claiming they suffered broken bones, cuts and bruises during filming in Berlin last year.

The extras, who are seeking $11 million in damages, say they were injured when the side panel of a period German army truck burst open as it drove around a corner in central Berlin. Cruise was not on set at the time.

A lawyer for the extras claims the side panel on the truck had not been properly secured when it flew open.

"A new letter has been sent to Tom Cruise, (business partner) Paula Wagner and United Artists, in which we set out the facts of the case again and put a figure on the legal demands of our clients … of $11 million," lawyer Ariane Bluttner told Reuters.

Katie Makes a Mad Dash for Manhattan

October 16th, 2007

Katie Holmes is Big Apple-bound! After spending the last three months in Berlin, where superstar hubby Tom Cruise was shooting his WWII epic Valkyrie, Katie flew into New York today for a top-secret photo shoot. The shoot is tied to the promotion of her upcoming comedy, Mad Money, which will be released in January.

Tom and daughter Suri will be joining Katie in a couple of days, but their stay will be a short one. This weekend they are off to the UK for the London Film Festival premiere of Tom’s new film, Lions for Lambs. The Cruise clan then jets to Rome, Paris and Los Angeles for three more gala openings of the Robert Redford-directed thriller. Then, it’s straight back to Manhattan for Katie’s debut in the Nov. 4 New York City Marathon.

Suri’s Day With the Grandparents

September 21st, 2007

Even though her parents are world-famous superstars Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, little Suri Cruise still occasionally likes to enjoy the company of some more mature folks; the kind who don’t jump up and down on Oprah’s couch.

Earlier today, the adorable 16-month-old went for a stroll through Berlin’s Tiergarten park with Katie’s parents, Martin and Kathleen. The trio stopped at a playground, where little Suri enjoyed herself immensely.

"Martin and Kathleen obviously adore that child," one onlooker tells OK!. "How could they not? She looks just like Katie did when she was a baby!"

The TomKat crew have been living in Berlin for several weeks, where Tom is filming the WWII film Rubicon (formerly called Valkyrie). In addition to having several floors of their hotel renovated to suit their familial needs, Tom has been known to shut down production on the set in order to have some private playtime with his daughter.

OK! Exclusive: Inside the Tom Cruise Lawsuit

September 17th, 2007

Last month, 11 extras were hurt on the set of Tom Cruise’s lastest flick, the WWII drama Rubicon (formerly known as Valkyrie), and a lawsuit was filed in Germany against United Artists, in which Tom heads with producing partner Paula Wagner.

OK! sat down with Ariane Bluttner, the lawyer suing Tom, to get her take on the whole situation.

“It’s not Tom Cruise, it’s United Artists," Ariane explained. "They are responsible because the safety of the set was not as well secured as it should have been and Tom Cruise is just one man who gives the money to the production.”

Currently United Artists and Bluttner are in negotiations, instead of taking the suit to trial. “First we try to settle before suing… with Babelsberg too… United keeps trying to say that Babelsberg is responsible because its the production company, but this small German firm is not the one supporting an $80 million film,” she said.
