While husband Jordan Bratman hailed a cab outside NYC’s SoHo Grand Hotel on Sept. 2, Christina Aguilera, 27, opted for a limo.
She was hardly a diva the previous night, signing photos of herself for fans. "Her baby Max kept trying to grab the photos," an onlooker tells OK!.
The new mom stirred up old rivalries when it was announced that both she and Britney Spears would be at this year’s VMA Awards. Britney opened the show, and Christina later performed–the first time since giving birth to her son Max, 8 months.
"I’m very excited," she said. "This will be his first time watching me perform on television, but only for a little while because he’s not allowed to watch television yet."
Britney Set for Return to VMAs

One year after nearly killing her career on the MTV Video Music Awards stage, it’s been confirmed that Britney Spears will be returning to the VMAs on Sunday to kick off their 25th anniversary ceremony. Unfortunately, unlike last year where the singer opened up the show with a disastrous, scantily clad performance of "Gimme More," MTV has announced that Brit will not be singing this time around.
“MTV has long played an important role in my career," the pop superstar said after today’s announcement. "How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMA’s? I’m excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated.”
Brit is nominated this year for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year for her hit song, “Piece of Me."
Van Toffler, President of MTV Networks had this to say about the decision to have Brit back. “Britney has done everything from perform with a snake, lock lips with Madonna and prove that what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas. I can’t wait to see what she does to kick off this year’s show.”

Manager: Britney Too Busy for VMAs

With her personal and professional lives finally getting back on track, it had appeared likely in recent weeks that Britney Spears would attempt to make a image-reversing performance at September’s MTV Video Music Awards. But alas, says her manager, that doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen.
"Contrary to media reports, Britney was never slated to perform on this year’s VMAs," says Larry Rudolph, Brit’s manager, who was re-hired earlier this year after months of erratic behavior by the pop star. "She’s in the middle of recording her next album, which is going amazingly well, and her focus remains on the studio."
Last September, a disoriented and distracted Brit took the VMA stage in Las Vegas for an embarrassing lip-synched performance of her single, "Gimme More," and drew mostly gasps and giggles from the audience in reply.
One year later, a much-improved 26-year-old appeared to be opening the door to a VMA performance with a pair of recorded promotional pieces for the awards show with this year’s host, British comedian Russell Brand.
However, it should be noted that, while Rudolph says Britney won’t be performing live during the Sept. 7 broadcast from L.A., he said nothing about her being too busy to make a brief appearance either in person at the ceremony or on videotape. The singer’s hit, "Piece of Me" is nominated for Video of the Year.

MTV is offering one lucky person and their guest to be at this year’s Video Music Awards — and all they have to do is place a winning bid on The Hills star Audrina Patridge!
That’s right, Lauren Conrad’s buxom roomie is up for auction folks. It’s for a good cause, with proceeds going to CharityFolks.com. The winning bid will, of course, get to hang out with Audrina, as well as walk the red carpet at the VMAs and live it up VIP-style at L.A.’s Standard Hotel.

OK! Exclusive: Criss Angel Opens Up About Britney

In the weeks leading up to Britney Spears‘ disastrous performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, rock-star illusionist Criss Angel was not only linked romantically to the beleaguered pop star, he was supposed to be working with her to create a true stage extravaganza for her first televised performance in years.
But, like one of Criss’ infamous illusions, when Britney took the stage that fateful night, he seemed to do a vanishing act. And now, weeks later, the Mind Freak star talks to OK! to clear the air.
“We were supposed to do a creation of stuff that we worked on and it took a lot of dedication and work to do the things that we wanted to do,” Criss, on the set of his new NBC series Phenomenon, recalls exclusively to OK! about Britney’s planned VMA performance. “Unfortunately for me, she didn’t really want to put forth that type of effort.”
Criss, who has also been romantically linked to stars Cameron Diaz and Minnie Driver tells OK! that he just wanted what was best for Britney. “Basically I said, ‘Don’t worry about me. Do what you want to do. This is a big opportunity for you to do the VMAs, so if you don’t feel it, go with something else.’ And she chose to go with something else.”
As for reports that their backstage differences had ruined their friendship, Criss tells OK!, “We’re still friends and everything’s cool.”

At the Las Vegas premiere of Resident Evil: Extinction, newly minted Las Vegas showgirl Pamela Anderson gushed over a new trick she and her magician stage partner, Hans, are working on. “We’re working on an underwater illusion where Hans will be shackled underwater," Pam reveals to OK!. "Then I end up underwater. It’s actually funny. Really dangerous, but a lot of fun.”
And what about that Tommy Lee/Kid Rock fight at the VMAs? “Hey, a day in the life! Just another day at the office.”
Christina Still Quiet About Baby Bump

Despite the predictions of many Hollywood insiders that Christina Aguilera would choose her performance of "Steppin’ Out [with My Baby]" at Sunday’s Emmy awards to finally break her silence of the topic of her now-quite-obvious pregnancy, the soulful songstress instead gave no hint of a big reveal during her duet with music legend Tony Bennett.
This latest bit of standing mute about her bulging belly comes hot on the heels of Paris Hilton revealing it to everyone in attendance at a pre-VMA party last weekend and, two days later, Emmy producer Ken Ehrlich letting it slip to an OK! reporter during a tour of the new Emmy stage.

Unless you’ve been vacationing under a particularly large bit of stone this past week, you’ve seen, read about and likely expressed your opinion about Britney Spears‘ disastrous performance at last Sunday’s Video Music Awards. Even if you’ve managed to avoid this particular bit of news, you’re certainly aware of the beleaguered pop star’s year of divorce, partying, rehab, head-shaving, more rehab and custody battles. Of course, the one person who knows best about all the negative news is Britney herself.
So what is this former champion of the charts doing to lift herself out of her current abyss? "Brit’s in damage control mode now. She’s been talking to the folks at Maxim about doing a photo shoot," a friend of the pop princess tells OK! exclusively, referring to the popular men’s magazine that has been a career-boosting showcase for celebrities like Jessica Alba and Eva Longoria. "She wants to be on the cover as quickly as they can shoot her."
Britney’s decision to go for men’s magazine cover stardom is based solely on her past success with selling herself as an object of desire. "It’s worked for her since the video for ‘Baby One More Time,’ " an industry insider explains to OK!. "The last thing she did that really reminded America of her allure was her sexy Rolling Stone cover from October 2003, so the idea of another high-profile cover is completely logical."
And considering that Lindsay Lohan, the only celeb in Brit’s age range who could argue for having had a worse 2007, was the unlikely choice to top Maxim’s Hot 100 list this year (Britney didn’t make the cut), she sees the magazine as being a welcoming place for her right now. "She sits around reading Maxim all the time," the friend reveals to OK!.
Of course, if Maxim does decide to go ahead with the shoot, OK! would like to remind them of the complete meltdowns she experienced at the planned fashion shoot for the pages of our magazine.
Let’s just say… keep her dog away from any pricey designer clothes.
