Angelina Posters: Too Violent

September 4th, 2008

How many complaints does it take to bring down a poster for a blockbuster movie? Apparently, 17, if you live in the UK.

After the above number of people complained that images of Angelina Jolie on two posters for her summer hit Wanted glamorized guns and violence,  the ads were banned by Britain’s Advertising Standards Authority.

In an online ruling the ASA says: "We considered, that because the ads featured a glamorous actress, action poses, several images of or related to guns and aspirational text, they could be seen to glamorize the use of guns and violence."

One of the offending posters featured Angelina crouching and pointing a gun skyward and the other showed her splayed across a car hood while wielding guns.

Universal Pictures, the company behind the ads, stood by the posters, saying that they were representative of the film’s comic book style.

However all the to do is apparently about nothing, as Universal also announced the posters were no longer even being displayed and were not going to be used anytime soon.

Angelina Heads Home with Twins

July 19th, 2008

One week after giving birth to twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, Angelina Jolie has finally gone home from the hospital in Nice, France, where she had been staying for almost three weeks.

"Mrs Angelina Jolie left the clinic Santa Maria of Foundation Lenval early in the morning, on July 19," reads a statement on the hospital’s web site. "The mother and her babies are doing very well."

Despite the brigade of photographers and reporters camped outside the hospital, Angelina was able to leave the hospital without being spotted and return to the rented countryside estate she and the family she shares with partner Brad Pitt have been residing in since coming to France for the Cannes Film Festival in May.

It’s a Girl — and a Boy — for Brad & Angelina!

July 12th, 2008

It’s official! After several false reports, Angelina Jolie’s doctor has confirmed that the Oscar winner and her partner, Brad Pitt are now the proud parents of twins — one boy and one girl — named Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline.

According to Dr. Michael Sussman, the doctor who delivered the twins at Lenval Hospital in Nice, France, the children were delivered by C-Section on Saturday evening and weighed in at 5.03 lbs (Knox Leon) and 5 lbs (Vivienne Marcheline).

"Everything is going well," said Sussmann in a statement to the Associated Press. "The mother, the babies, the father are doing marvelously well."

Angelina had checked into the hospital on July 1 in anticipation of the birth.

The babies are the fifth and sixth children for the longtime couple and make big brothers and sisters out of Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 2.

The actress emphatically "announced" she was pregnant at the Independent Spirit Awards in February, flaunting a very pointy baby bump on the red carpet. After months of keeping silent, Angelina finally confirmed reports she would be having two great expectations on the Today show in May when Kung Fu Panda co-star — and new dadJack Black let it slip.

"Poor Jack! Immediately when he saw Brad, he apologized," Angelina has said. "But we both told him very clearly that we had only waited because, as you do with any baby, but especially twins, you wait until all results are in on their health, and that we were past that point and if somebody had asked me directly, I would have said yes. So he didn’t do anything but take the heat himself."

Just two weeks later, rumors swirled that the 33-year-old Wanted star had delivered her babies in France, but were later squashed by her rep.

Though Brad, 44, and Angelina have been quite vocal about expanding their clan, the Oscar winner says they weren’t expecting to multiply so quickly, admitting the dual pregnancy was a "shock." And while parenting six kids may sound difficult to many, the two are up for a challenge and are determined to make it work.

"Our real focus now is: How do we make sure that the babies’ coming is not upsetting to other kids and makes them feel included," Angelina said. "We’re trying to find ways where it can be a fun group thing. But the hard thing is every single day trying to find time for each of them privately. Everybody gets special time so we can make sure we know where they’re at."

Jane Seymour’s Adivce for Angelina

July 8th, 2008

TV icon Jane Seymour, who once gave birth to twins and is the mother of six, has some advice for Angelina Jolie.

"My advice to her is to put some weight on," the Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman star told OK!. "I think she needs to keep putting on weight so she can feed those babies. I don’t think she should think twice. She hasn’t put on enough weight."

Jolie, whose film Wanted is in theaters now, will soon be mother to six children herself when she gives birth to her twins with Brad Pitt.

Seymour,57, says that when she had her twins, John and Kristopher, in 1995, it was a life threatening delivery.

"I nearly died having the twins," she recalled. "I had preclampsia, which is toxemia, and I had to have an emergency C-section and I almost lost my life. So my advice to her [Jolie] is to listen to your doctors and if they say bed rest and they say blood pressure cuff every hour and they say whatever medication they say, you should take it very seriously."

The Dancing with the Stars alum, who was promoting her upcoming Hallmark Channel TV movie Dear Prudence at the Television Critics Association Event in L.A. on Tuesday, has four biological children as well as two stepchildren with husband James Keach. She told OK! six kids is definitely a handful.

They "need me every day," she laughed.

James McAvoy: My Six-Pack’s Real!

June 23rd, 2008

Justin Timberlake’s, um, large Speedo in The Love Guru may or may not be real, but James McAvoy’s ripped six-pack in Wanted definitely is!

"They were not a special effect," the actor tells Parade.com. "It was the result of a lot of time at the gym — which I hated."

Hardly a gym rat, James admits that he’d actually "rather eat dog poo than excercise," but all his blood, sweat and tears at the gym paid off in the end — not to mention flatulence, as well.

"I was also trying to take these super protein supplements and they gave me incredible bouts of flatulence which wouldn’t have endeared me to the rest of the cast," he reveals. "But I’m back to normal. I haven’t worked out since the day, ten months ago, that I wrapped this film."

The 29-year-old plays Wesley Gibson, an everyday Joe who’s transformed into a bad-ass assassin at the hands of Angelina Jolie.

"Working with her was cool," James says. "She’s a nice lady."

Confessing that he’s one of the many whose perception of Angelina was "influenced by the media," the Scot says that all changed upon meeting the actress.

"She’s nothing like the image from all the hype that follows her around and all the stories you read," he says. "Angelina was just completely different than anything I expected. I’ve got a lot of respect for her."

Angelina: I Prefer to Roll Around with Brad!

June 17th, 2008

Angelina Jolie has steamed up films with her share of sex scenes with dishy leading men — the latest of which can be seen in the upcoming Wanted with James McAvoy. But no matter how risque it is, nothing will compare to frolicking with another one of her main men.

"Well, you know Brad [Pitt] was…I’ll always prefer rolling around on the floor with him than any other man," she tells MTV. "You know, in general."

Angelina consciously signed up for the action-packed Wanted, based on a comic book, as a fun, physical contrast to her emotionally demanding roles in A Mighty Heart and The Changeling. It’s her first action thriller since 2005’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and it definitely won’t be her last.

"I think there’s always going to be a side of me … you know, as long as I can," she says. "Harrison [Ford] is doing it, and he’s doing it well. It looks like I’ve got some more time."

After working back-to-back on two films, the 33-year-old is now looking to take a break and prepare for the birth of her twins, due this summer. That means it’s time for Brad to get back to work.

"I love being a mom and I do love traveling and the work I get to do with children in the field and with refugees. Brad and I take turns working," she says. "So instead of it being "I get to work next," it’s "You have to work next, because it’s your turn. I’m staying home with the kids."

But even when she is on set slaving away, her kids, Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 2, are always with her — in more ways that one in Wanted.

"We added a bunch [of tattoos]," Angelina says. "I had "toil" and "tears" based on [Winston] Churchill’s speech. I had binary codes that are actually my kids’ initials. I have "strength of will" in four different languages. "Know your rights" in different languages. It’s things like that. Very few people pick up on it, but it was [something I did] for me."

Angelina: Pregnancy’s “Great for Sex Life”

June 12th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

Jack Black may have spilled the beans about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s doubly great expectations, but don’t think the couple harbors any ill will toward the funnyman.

"Poor Jack! Immediately when he saw Brad, he apologized," Angelina tells Entertainment Weekly. "But we both told him very clearly that we had only waited because, as you do with any baby, but especially twins, you wait until all results are in on their health, and that we were past that point and if somebody had asked me directly, I would have said yes. So he didn’t do anything but take the heat himself."

The actress expects her fifth and sixth children this summer and learning she was pregnant with twins was a "shock" to her and Brad as they’ve "jumped to six quickly." But don’t think the two aren’t up for a challenge.

"The only thing for us when a new child comes home is just balancing the others," she says. "Our real focus now is: How do we make sure that the babies’ coming is not upsetting to other kids and makes them feel included."

Brad and Angelina plan to engage their elder children, Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 2, in rearing the new infants by assigning duties, including diaper-changing and bottle-feeding.

"We’re trying to find ways where it can be a fun group thing," Angelina says. "But the hard thing is every single day trying to find time for each of them privately. Everybody gets special time so we can make sure we know where they’re at."

And how about mommy and daddy time? Don’t worry — there’s plenty of that, though the 33-year-old Wanted star declined to specify their activities of choice.

"Well, certain things are private!" she laughs. "There’s a side of us that’s so mommy-daddy and then there’s a side of us that’s…very man and woman. I’ll leave it at that. We both like to ride motorcycles, we both like to fly planes, that’s the spirited side of us. Then the other side of us is very focused on silly mommy-daddy things."

But one thing she wasn’t reticent about was their sex life, which is hitting all the marks now that she’s pregnant.

"It’s great for the sex life," she shares. "It just makes you a lot more creative. So you have fun, and as a woman you’re just so round and full."

James McAvoy a Priest?

February 29th, 2008

The church’s loss is Hollywood’s gain!

Long before wooing Anne Hathaway and Keira Knightley on screen, James McAvoy was about to go down a different path in life. The 28-year-old Scot admits he was this-close to becoming a priest until he realized a con to that gig.

“For about five minutes and then I quickly realized in order to become a Catholic priest, one would have to give up conjugal rights," he tells Extra.

And James certainly hasn’t done too shabby after going into acting. He earned a Golden Globe nomination for his turn in Atonement, has a new flick out this weekend, Penelope, and got to get it on with the one and only Angelina Jolie in June’s Wanted.

“It was fine," he says of the love scenes they shot. "Those things are always embarrassing.”

One thing acting doesn’t offer though is privacy, and James says he’ll never be comfortable with extra attention.

“Part of you gets used to it [attention] and part of you remains totally freaked out.”

For more on James, tune in to Extra tonight!
